  1. And this goes back to us refusing to acknowledge that there could be value in immunity from prior infection. We knew there was value in it and more studies were being done, but set up the system where it would be impossible to "credit" many with it. We are "sending out" free home tests to everyone right now, but in your proposal none of those positive tests would count for shit. You had Covid and were sick, did what we told you and stayed home and quarantined. Go get your blood drawn and prove it. I'm talking about boosters as much as I am initial vaccinations. People who did the right thing, got double vaccinated, had a breakthrough case and do not see the need to get a booster anytime soon. In many cases they are treated beneath those boosted, sometimes as unvaccinated.
  2. No doubt and no one should purposely get infected rather than get vaccinated. But millions have already been infected not by choice. Unfortunately, unlike other countries, we have continued to place zero value on immunity gained from prior infection. And have no plan in place to record or credit those with prior infection. We tell people if they feel bad, don't even bother getting tested, just stay home. Or we now mail out and encourage home testing. So, if we want to incorporate prior infection into our policies/recommendations for many it would have to be based on the honor system. Same thing goes for being boosted as well. The definition of fully vaccinated is slowly changing and is not set up to acknowledge those that have been double vaccinated + prior infection. Instead they are treated as non-vaccinated in many instances, which is absurd.
  3. I'm an idiot. Thought this was Daily Texan
  4. He's expected to be an immediate impact player. Likely weekend starter even before Pallette went down. A few blurbs on him from the D1 preview: Top Newcomer: Take your pick between blue-chip freshmen Stovall and Smith or big-ticket D-I transfers Jace Bohrofen, Chris Lanzilli and Michael Turner. All of them will be huge difference makers. But we already included Stovall in the “star power” section, so let’s give the nod to Smith, a funky low-slot lefty with supreme feel for pitching. Even as a true freshman, Smith might have the best present combination of stuff and pitchability on the entire staff, and we expect him to be a fixture in the rotation right away. From the Fall The fourth top contender for a starting job is true freshman Hagen Smith, the other crown jewel of this year’s recruiting class along with Stovall. Hobbs and Van Horn couldn’t stop raving about Smith, and I saw why in Monday’s scrimmage, when he breezed through three scoreless innings. A loose, athletic low three-quarters lefthander with advanced feel for pitching, Smith carved up the zone at 91-93 mph with heavy sink, a sharp slider at 79-82 that he commands very well, and a very good 83-86 changeup with fade and sink that he’ll throw against lefties as well as righties. Though he’s only a freshman and he has yet to proven himself at the D-I level, Smith might have the best combination of stuff and pitchability on the entire staff, and he’s going to be a big star — sooner rather than later. And his high school track record in Texas is loud: he threw seven no-hitters in his career at Bullard High School. Here is a good pre-draft article on the kid
  5. From the study published by the CDC yesterday The understanding and epidemiology of COVID-19 has shifted substantially over time with the emergence and circulation of new SARS-CoV-2 variants, introduction of vaccines, and changing immunity as a result. Similar to the early period of this study, two previous U.S. studies found more protection from vaccination than from previous infection during periods before Delta predominance (3,7). As was observed in the present study after July, recent international studies have also demonstrated increased protection in persons with previous infection, with or without vaccination, relative to vaccination alone†††, §§§ (4). This might be due to differential stimulation of the immune response by either exposure type.¶¶¶ Whereas French and Israeli population-based studies noted waning protection from previous infection, this was not apparent in the results from this or other large U.K. and U.S. studies**** (4,8). Further studies are needed to establish duration of protection from previous infection by variant type, severity, and symptomatology, including for the Omicron variant.
  6. Is this any different than people saying vaccines don't work because someone gets Covid after being vaccinated? Both clearly provide protection but aren't bulletproof. Studies released yesterday show protection against Delta was ranked: 1. Vaccination plus prior infection 2. Prior Infection only 3. Vaccination only 4. No vaccination and no prior infection https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/prior-covid-infection-more-protective-than-vaccination-during-delta-surge-us-2022-01-19/ https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/71/wr/mm7104e1.htm?s_cid=mm7104e1_w
  7. Big fan of this low carb IPA, too. Less calories even than a Michelob Ultra. 3 carbs per.
  8. They have them at Whole Foods but I just get off Amazon.
  9. I like these. Keep them in the freezer. Even eat them for dessert when not doing Keto.
  10. That’s a weird way to say you agree with what I’ve posted. But I’ll take what I can get.
  11. No. All I’m saying is that I disagree with the statement you made I quoted. Had we had a highly rate of vaccination we could not have avoided Omicron altogether. And what? I disagree with the statement he made that if the US would’ve vaxxed more we could’ve avoided Omicron. Do you believe that? -signed fully vaccinated guy who just had Omicron.
  12. No. All I’m saying is that I disagree with the statement you made I quoted. Had we had a highly rate of vaccination we could not have avoided Omicron altogether.
  13. We represent like 4% of the world’s unvaccinated and like you say, it didn’t come from here. It’s tearing through highly vaccinated communities, states and countries with no regard. If everyone was double vaxxed with fresh boosters, we probably could’ve slowed it a little but only delayed it. We definitely couldn’t have avoided it altogether.
  14. Best role?
  15. That could literally be anyone. I assumed we were talking about the thespian in the video who won an Academy Award for their performance.
  16. Who is talking about Richard Gere?
  17. This, Iron Eagle, Iron Eagle II.....
  18. Not sure the last time I actually saw someone pass a concussion test and return. I figured they held everyone out no matter.
  19. Parsons was in on the FG.
