  1. Evidently Bono's son, Elijah, has a band - Inhaler.
  2. While I appreciate this, it doesn't really answer the question. To boil it down, there are a large group of people who say "I already had Covid. It wasn't a big deal." I work with one. The study you link is about reinfection. They aren't really worried about reinfection, because they've "been there, done that." All I'm wondering is if there are studies that show that the 2nd infection is worse than the 1st infection. If you weren't hospitalized the first time, what are the odds you will hospitalized the second time?
  3. Reminds me, I've wanted to watch the movie Backbeat for years. Saw it when it came out but literally cannot find it streaming anywhere.
  4. Mick Jagger in 1969 singing about 13 year olds. Well, the recorded version is *only* about 15 year olds. The live version linked below he changes it to 13. Pretty disturbing lyrics. But does anyone question for second that Mick Jagger (and many others in that era) weren't doing just this. Hell, Jerry Lee Lewis married a 13 year old. I hear the click-clack of your feet on the stairs I know you're no scare-eyed honey There'll be a feast if you just come upstairs But it's no hanging matter It's no capital crime I can see that you're fifteen years old No I don't want your I.D. And I've seen that you're so far from home But it's no hanging matter It's no capital crime Oh yeah, you're a strange stray cat Oh yeah, don'tcha scratch like that Oh yeah, you're a strange stray cat Bet your mama don't know you scream like that I bet your mother don't know you can spit like that.
  5. I thought I'd seen everything, but getting updates on a bomb scare from Nick Pappagiorgio beats all.
  6. Regardless of vaccination status? That's a step above Lollapalooza, which was a success.
  7. I understand that. And it isn't really unvaccinated vs. vaccinated. That evidence is out there. There is a difference. I'm wondering if there is evidence on unvaccinated that had documented hospitalization-free Covid vs. Vaccinated. Is there a difference? Maybe not, but there has to be some information out there. Of all the hospitalizations, ICU, Vents, and deaths on the unvaccinated, what percentage of those had hospitalization free Covid previously? If its a decent %, that's a selling point to those who say "I've already had it. It wasn't a big deal." My gut tells me its probably pretty low or else it would be talked about.
  8. I'm sure this question has been asked over the previous 137 pages, but I'm going to ask. This is a real world example of mid 30's guy in my office who will not get the vax. We all know hundreds of people who have had Covid and ranged from asymptomatic to flu like symptoms, i.e. not requiring hospitalization. Has a study been done on people like that getting Covid for the second time and what are the odds that the second time required hospitalization or worse? I'm not talking about antibodies remaining from the first case. More about people who had Alpha, their bodies handled it just "fine." My gut tells me those people probably have nothing to worry about (from a hospitalization standpoint) if they get Delta the 2nd time. They've already had a test run and their bodies handled it just fine. Will the second time be any different? Has there been a study showing something different? Obviously not everyone is motivated by the "greater good" to get the vaccination. I never had Covid to my knowledge. I got the vaccine for a number of family reasons but the selfish part was because I'm 44 and its possible that a 44 year old can die from this. I have no idea how my body would react to Covid. Would I be the freak case of a healthy guy that died? But lots of people do know how their body reacts to Covid. Like the guy I work with. He had it and it wasn't bad. He's not worried about the greater good. So what's his motivation to get it, outside of punitive rules and laws? Strictly looking at his personal health, is he just as unlikely to avoid hospitalization and death as a vaccinated person? Are there studies that show the 2nd time can be worse for someone like him? Because if not, its a hard sell. For a lot of people, we say "the vaccine doesn't stop you from getting Covid, but it greatly reduces hospitalizations and deaths." Does a guy like this have an argument that he's already at that stage?
  9. And BLM Greg from the White Lotus. He (Jon Gries) was already the perfect example ITT with Lazlo and Uncle Rico, but he just took it up a notch.
  10. FYI, got this from the Windsor Court yesterday. I imagine they don't want to have to worry about checking for this again and again in the bar, restaurant, meetings etc. If you're a guest, you're already cleared. If you're not cleared, you're not a guest. Dear Valued Guest, Effective Monday, August 16th, the City of New Orleans will require proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative PCR test to participate in activities with a higher risk of transmission such as indoor dining and bars, indoor entertainment and meetings, and large outdoor events. As such, Windsor Court Hotel will require all guests and patrons to provide a proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test within 72-hours prior to arriving to the hotel, effective Monday, August 23rd. Please know we are at your service and will be happy to answer any questions or concerns you have. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to welcoming you to Windsor Court for an authentic New Orleans experience! Sincerely, Ralph Mahana General Manager
  11. Thx. Humor my remedial questions for a bit. Using me as an example. Moderna recipient. 2nd shot was early March. I guess I'm due for #3 in November. Is the booster just the same shot again or a different dosage? If, for example, I didn't get a booster until 12, 15 months later, would the same booster shot be effective or would I need to get more than just the booster? Because you know booster turnout is going to be worse even than original vaccination turnout. What will those people who wait have to do to "catch up" with those who get the booster at the recommended 8 months?
  12. I've always assumed we'd need to get another shot...and probably another and.... I was just wondering if 8 months is the natural timeline needed or if that is a "just to be safe with Delta hitting us hard" timeline. If there was no major Delta outbreak in this country, would we still be recommending a booster after 8 months?
  13. If the country had done a better job getting vaccinated and we didn't have the current Delta outbreak, would we still have the 8 month booster recommendation? Or would they have likely waited longer?
  14. It happened and was the catalyst for the Oregon Health Authority to change their guidelines. They were the only state requiring masks for track and field. Maybe I'm just an idiot, but it seems like common sense. We've all worn masks for a year and half. Most of us live in hot humid environments. This isn't a study where people got on an exercise bike for 10 minutes inside and had minimal effect. Did those people even sweat? Did they have unlimited masks? Put on a cloth mask or surgical mask like the study above and tell me how long you make into full pads football practice in Austin before that thing is completely soaked. 15 minutes? Tell me about the studies that show how there's no effect on oxygen flow through a wet mask. There isn't one.
  15. The Boss encored with it during the entire European leg of the Tunnel of Love tour.
  16. All three of my kids played soccer and football outdoors last season with no masks (like pretty much the entire country). They also had no positive Covid cases on the team.
  17. Well, if an Olympian did it, then that translates to kids. Here's a real world example of a high school athlete passing out while running track. https://ktvz.com/news/coronavirus/2021/04/26/summit-hs-runner-collapses-at-finish-line-coach-calls-for-revised-mask-mandate/ BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Maggie Williams, a junior on the Summit High School track team, broke a school record in the 800-meter last Thursday. Her moment of glory has been somewhat overshadowed a by moment of concern – Williams passed out as she stumbled her way across the finish line. She and her coach say the mask is to blame, and now the Oregon Health Authority is updating its guidelines. Williams ran the 800-meter race in 2:08:45, which beat the previous school record of 2:10:54 set in 2019. “I found out a couple minutes after my race, when I had recovered from my fall,” Williams told NewsChannel 21 Monday. “So super exciting for me.” The fall Williams is referring to happened during the last seven meters of the race, just as she was about to finish. “I felt like I just wasn't being able to get a full breath,” she said. “Multiple times of that happening, not being able to get enough air -- I just felt super dizzy, and then eventually passed out."
  18. Wearing a mask while playing or practicing a sport is stupid and dangerous. On the sideline, locker room, etc. is different. While playing football or basketball? Get out of here.
  19. Cant imagine a worse thing to wager on.
  20. I actually am surprised Steven Tyler is only worth $160 million. Aerosmith has sold as many records as the Rolling Stones, with him being the primary songwriter (minus their only #1 song - that song from Armageddon). Plus he does a ton of advertising and TV appearances, American idol etc. Maybe he pissed a lot of it away on drugs.
  21. I would think you're as close to fucking invincible as someone can get. I wouldn't worry about a thing.* *this is not medical advice.
