  1. Everyone says they knew the rules. I’m not sure anyone knew the rules yesterday. Nor does anyone show a full understanding today. Also not sure what triggered testing all the vaccinated players. Maybe 2 positives is “significant transmission in the community”. I wouldn’t interpret it that way, but do I know? I would imagine that everyone that “knew the rules going in”, never imagined fully vaccinated players would be ruled out. I’m sure they thought the worst case scenario would be what happened in yesterday’s game.
  2. No way to verify right now, but supposedly per one of the players, they knew about the two positives before the game (was all over social media), and right before the game decided to pull all unvaccinated players from the game and test them. All came back negative. Then after the game, they decided to test all vaccinated players and got the four positives. if true, there’s a lot of explaining that needs to be made for allowing those players to play yesterday. And as to why they decided to test them after the game.
  3. Maybe fucked them over. There’s no reason to believe NCST wasn’t going to be the tougher opponent (had none of this happened).
  4. If we weren’t worried about protecting the unvaccinated, the players would be allowed to play. Which made total sense for about 12 months. But not now.
  5. At what point can we limit personal responsibility to the person? We are well past the point where everyone has had the opportunity to get the vaccine. Time to stop having silly rules to protect those who have chosen not to.
  6. I don’t define risk as a vaccinated person testing positive for Covid. We all know the odds of that having a serious outcome is near zero. That’s why they aren’t even bothering to test fully vaccinated teams. Because it’s not even worth knowing about.
  7. No. I think in the scenario we are discussing, the fully vaccinated players were not tested and allowed to play as they were yesterday. It’s only a comment in response to the “they would’ve lost anyway” posts.
  8. This. The “they would’ve lost anyway” attitude is wrong. They only lost 3-1 to Rocker yesterday and had numerous chances to score more, especially against the relievers. Vandy’s pitching situation wasn’t going to be great today. They could’ve also thrown a pitcher in RF and put their regular 1B back as he was playing LF. And just hope for the best. Also, I find it hard to believe that they wouldn’t get some negative unvaccinated players back for next week.
  9. I’m still dying to know why the fully vaccinated players were allowed to play yesterday without being tested with the other players. But then were tested and ruled out today. Since everyone keeps saying the rules were clear and everyone knew about them going in.
  10. Which had nothing to do with safety/science. All vaccinated players are the same.
  11. Why were they allowed to play yesterday? Why were the vaccinated players not tested during the game like the rest of the team?
  12. And they should be allowed to play with the less than 100% who were fully vaccinated and allowed to play yesterday. Because they have the same coverage as other fully vaccinated players.
  13. Who is really arguing that point? I think we all agree, if you are not vaccinated and test positive you should not be allowed to play. I believe that covers two NCST players. Not enough to make the team forfeit.
  14. This. They could get it from anywhere because they’ve all been rightly told they can ditch the mask and live life. They are of no risk, same as he NCST vaccinated players. But people are enjoying the punitive aspect of this instead of the logic behind it.
  15. What I’m “harping on” is the science behind this punishment. I prefer for rules/punishments to make sense and unfortunately this one doesn’t. NCST has enough fully vaccinated players to play today. They were allowed to play yesterday and should be allowed to play today and next week.
  16. Agreed. But no difference from an actual safety/health standpoint. The only difference is that one group was allowed to be tested and the other not.
  17. Followed rules? There were no rules broken. And certainly not by the fully vaccinated NCST players. But clearly I was talking about both teams’ fully vaccinated players from a health/safety standpoint. There is no difference. There could be multiple Texas players who could test positive for Covid. They haven’t been on lockdown. The CDC guidelines allow for them to rightfully live a normal life. They aren’t tested because there’s almost zero risk. Same for the NCST fully vaccinated players.
  18. It should play out with testing being scrapped. No one is at risk unless they have made the choice to not get vaccinated.
  19. Which is a risk for literally everyone in Omaha. No one is on lockdown.
  20. The “other group” has made the same “personal choice.”
  21. Those are the rules. And multiple posters have huge boners over the punitive aspect of this. But from a health/safety aspect, there’s no difference between the NCST fully vaccinated players and the fully vaccinated players on other teams.
  22. We agree the rules are dumb. I don’t know how clear they are. They certainly weren’t clear to anyone yesterday. I don’t see how any clear rules would allow those vaccinated players to play a game yesterday during a covid outbreak. But then require them to be tested right after and be ruled out for the next day.
  23. But what’s the difference between the vaccinated NCST players and the vaccinated Texas players? Both have the same protection. Both should be allowed to play no matter what. These teams are not on lockdown. They have days off and can do whatever they want. They can “get it” from anywhere. Doesn’t have to be an unvaccinated teammate.
