    TEXAS QB TALK

The fact that a RS freshman is on a level playing field with a RS junior is very telling.
  4. Not sure who these people are so I blocked them out but maybe this alignment will calm some of you down.
  5. $9.95 Hot damn, what a week. In less than seven days, we've gone from will it happen to it's happening to when is it really going to happen? With so much to report, let's just do this rapid fire style. 1. - The Regents will meet on Friday at 9 a.m. and are expected to approve the move to SEC. Tomorrow is all about making the move official. Expect 2025 to remain the date that is mentioned in all official language until it's not. There shouldn't be any surprises on Friday. Every single step of the last seven days has been meticulously planned and executed. 2. One high-level university official indicated that once Texas and Oklahoma officially approve the move to the SEC, the lawyers for both schools will do everything possible to get out of its Big 12 contract and attempt to enter the SEC in 2022. That is the goal and our sources have indicated that they are confident that Texas and Oklahoma have a plan of attack that will allow both universities to enter the SEC next season. 3. Bob Bowlsby's current animosity toward Texas and OU could be a dynamic to watch moving forward. Getting into the SEC by the start of the 2022 will require some clever maneuvering. The easiest way for it to occur will be if the Big 12 settles with Texas and Oklahoma. One of the things to watch closely moving forward is whether Texas and OU offer a settlement and whether Bowlsby faces pressure from the remaining eight schools to accept the deal. Is Bowlsby pulling an A&M right now, knowing that his initial harsh language will be replaced with a desire to do whatever is needed to make the most money? Or will he go out of his way to make every move Texas and Oklahoma try to make as difficult as possible? The expectation is that it will be the former, but two sources Orangebloods spoke with on Thursday indicated there is a little bit of uncertainty with a very scorned Bowlsby. 4. When asked how upset Bowlsby was, one Texas athletic department source asked me if I had seen the movie "Marriage Story." I have and my memories of the movie don't make that a happy metaphor about the divorce that is about to take place. 5. When asked about Bowlsby's stream of commentary throughout the week, one source told Orangebloods. "He's full of it. He's trying to project strength at a time when he's seen by his partners as being very weak." 6. One source stressed that no matter what you hear in the media, the absolute truth is that the remaining eight schools are examining their options. That source indicated that what typically occurs in this situation is that a non-employee associated with each school will start reaching out to other conferences to sell their program. Basically, it'll be a busy time for middle men and women in negotiations. 7. Want to hear a potential power move that has been mention this week as a worst-case scenario that would allow both schools to play as soon as 2022? Texas and Oklahoma could just tell the Big 12 to keep its TV payouts for home football games for whatever time frame is needed and just walk away. Basically, the Big 12 gets the bank account in this divorce, but Texas and Oklahoma can walk away. That isn't expected to occur, but that it has even been mentioned by sources we've spoken with is an indication of how eager the Longhorns are to get out of the Big 12 and into the SEC as soon as possible. 8. The most unlikely scenario, but one that still remains a possibility is the remaining eight Big 12 teams finding new conferences. If that happens, the Big 12 is dead, and I'm told that should release Texas and Oklahoma from any financial responsibility. This could take years to potentially unfold because the remaining Big 12 schools are not as appealing to the remaining Power 5 conferences as some media reports would suggest. Texas officials have some skepticism about whether the Big 12 simply dying will occur in time for the Longhorns to enter the SEC by 2022. "These schools are trying to act like they have options and they don't. The more noise you hear, the less likely that what you're hearing is true," one source remarked. 9. Another source indicated Texas does not expect for LHN to exist when Texas enters the SEC. If Texas wanted to keep ‘traces’ of the LHN alive, it could have gone to the Big 12 and asked to convert LHN into the Big 12 Network, while getting assurances it would have a large percentage of live home games. 10. Another option would see ESPN converting the LHN into an SEC West Network, but that money would spread out to the entire SEC and not go directly to Texas. Keep in mind the athletic department doesn’t get all the revenue from LHN …some goes to the main campus. As it stands, ESPN is reportedly losing $15-20 million per year on rights fees and production costs with LHN. We've been told that ESPN views the situation as Texas asking to get rid of LHN, with ESPN agreeing to do so without any financial penalty. 11. Texas A&M fell into line pretty easily, as everyone projected as soon as it threw its tantrum last Wednesday. The deal was always done. All of the initial noise was theater. The Aggies have been nothing but fodder for laughs behind the scenes. Every single Texas official basically feels like A&M has never been a bigger butt of jokes than it has this week, which has made for an enjoyable experience. "It was a cherry on top of the sundae," one official joked. "About 100 cherries."
  6. For those that went to the spring game, have they started on the new video board in the NEZ upper deck?
