  1. Or...don't fix what isn't broken. The NCAA replay rules are broken. Fix them. Leave the game itself alone.
  2. Jack Daniels is more popular than Crown Royal Black. Doesn't mean I want my Crown Royal Black to suddenly start tasting like Jack Daniels. Some of us like college football's distinctiveness from the NFL and don't want NFL 2.0.
  3. I hate to sound like a broken record, but we don't need any of these proposals to speed up the game. Adopt the NFL replay rules and you will shed 30 minutes off of most CFB games. It's such the obvious answer that it pisses me off the NCAA doesn't even have it on the table. Instead, they rather look at these other options that will fundamentally change the game (not for the better) and will not have near the effect that simply changing the replay rules will have. I feel like Scotty trying to talk sense to Dr. Evil.
  4. No, I get that. But I know what a university president’s schedule and workload is like. Not sure how spending time on your previous school’s message board fits into his priorities.
  5. How the hell does a university president have the time to read fan message boards from a different school? I can see him checking in from time-to-time on a WSU message board to just get a pulse of the people, but even then, that doesn't seem like the best use of a university president's time.
  6. I'm not advocating one way or the other. Asking the question what would it take for him to get the job, and then responding to the answers. I honestly couldn't care less who you all hire because after next year it doesn't affect my team except for a possible matchup in the NCAA's down the road.
  7. I'm not saying it is legit, I'm saying be prepared for the allegations. Black coach gets CoY and Elite Eight and isn't retained? You don't think the media talking heads won't have an absolute field day with that? I can hear Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless already.
  8. Really? Elite Eight even wouldn't cut it? Be prepared for the racism allegations if he gets CoY and EE and still doesn't get the job after all that has happened this year.
  9. You made me literally laugh out loud with that line.
  10. The million dollar question...how deep into the NCAA's does he have to go to get the job? Sweet 16? Elite Eight? How does UT justify not retaining a CotY, who helped guide the ship through some horribly turbulent waters, and got his team to the Sweet 16?
  11. Yeah, once the playoffs expanded to 12 and the Big 12 was most likely assured their champ would have a spot at the table (barring something really crazy like an unranked champion), I was no longer concerned about relegation. The TV deal calmed my remaining fears. A playoff spot and linear TV. You can recruit to that. In the end, the money and exposure is all about one thing: getting recruits and good coaches. And it should go without saying that a Big 12 school could even sell recruits and coaches on the idea that the path to the playoffs is a little less harrowing than in the SEC and BIG. I'm good with where we are. Wouldn't mind adding the 4 corner schools to help entrench the conference in this position a little further.
  12. Not even sure the Pac 12 fans will fork over the money either.
  13. No, they don't. SMU has more people at the tailgates along the Boulevard than in the stadium. When they have ranked teams come to play, the stadium is still half-empty. Last time I saw that stadium full was when Tech played there years ago.
  14. Exactly. Some of us like the distinction between college football and the NFL...what little is left. It's bad enough the schools are trying to ruin what makes college football distinct from the NFL (jumbotrons, commercials, less band playing and more canned music, etc.), let's not change some of the rules that also provide a uniqueness. With the NIL and the Transfer Portal dramatically changing the makeup of the teams from one year to the next, the distinction in the rules is all we have left of the college football that we preferred over the NFL. The only NFL thing I want the NCAA to adopt is the replay rules. That's it.
  15. They have automatic reviews for turnovers, scores, player disqualifications, and plays that start after two-minute warning and all plays during overtime. Any other review has to be a challenge from the head coach. Each team has two challenges per game, each of which requires the use of a timeout. If the challenge is ruled in the team's favor, the team gets its timeout back. A third challenge is allowed if a team wins its first two challenges. THIS is what the NCAA should be adopting post haste. The current NCAA review process is absurd and is the #1 reason the games are so damn long.
  16. I'm talking number of plays, not necessarily length. Worst thing about college football right now is the amount of time they spend reviewing plays. I would like to see college football adopt the NFL's rules for reviewing plays instead of having the replay official buzz down whenever they feel like they need to interject themselves into the game.
