  1. Actually, he probably should have left at whatever moment precipitated his need to be in the guest bedroom to begin with.
  2. Not at all. I said early on (first 5 pages) that I hate this for Beard and wished it hadn't happened. Still do. No matter how fervent I am towards him as an opposing coach who ditched us, I would never wish this on anyone. You don't want to see someone destroy their life like this. I hate it for everyone involved, but probably most for the student athletes this ultimately impacts. At some point you have to put the fandom and rivalry aside and be a human about these things.
  3. Her recant is on record. She got him fired from probably the best job he will ever have and has ruined his reputation for at least the next few years (though I will go on record he will be back in coaching and this will eventually be forgotten by the non-UT world). He should cut ties with her tomorrow and not look back.
  4. Yep. That simple little two-letter word is all you need to know..."we". "WE have brought negative attention upon...the University of Texas." She didn't bring the negative attention all by herself. Hell, this may be UT's entire defense all rolled up into a single sentence.
  5. I'm beginning to think that Minton's secretary did this one just for the "James Spader" treatment and meant to send the corrected one instead.
  6. I thought Perry Q. Minton was supposed to be some type of super attorney based on what many had posted here early on. The guy sounds like a moron. And yes, Beard will be doing plenty of "couching" for the foreseeable future.
  7. Honest question...do you think if Beard had done nothing at all, she would've called the cops at 2:00 a.m.? Regardless of how much she recants, she didn't call the cops at 2:00 a.m. and have him arrested because he was sitting on his bed reading a book. As the head coach of a University of Texas intercollegiate athletics program making millions of dollars and being one of two national faces of the entire university, you have to demonstrate behavior that far exceeds the standards that the rest of us have to live by. Too much at stake. He did ENOUGH to get arrested for domestic violence. He has a mugshot and video being in handcuffs in front of a judge. He did enough for that to happen. And that is enough for UT to terminate him.
  8. As an opposing fan, I would dread it if UT hired him. He's really damn good and would be a force in the Big 12.
  9. The lawyers here can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they can keep them from the public during the active part of the investigation, and then if it goes to trial, or doesn't go to trial, they become public then? Or something along those lines?
  10. He kept his job because no one knows who he is. His crime didn't make the national news. For that matter, did it even make the local news except for the school newspaper? Beard's incident made national news. That's the difference. Edit to add: I'm not defending it. There shouldn't be separate rules in incidents of domestic violence. I'm just stating why he wasn't fired and Beard was.
  11. I kind of find it humorous that UT gave him a couple of hours to think about resigning...knowing full well there was no way in hell he would (if he resigns, there is no suing UT later for not paying him). It's almost as if the UT attorneys were bored with the lack of competition on the other side of the table and decided to have some fun with it. "Hey, let's offer him the chance to resign....bwahahahahaha".
  12. I don't think they have to, honestly. As someone a couple of weeks pointed out, the UT system has some damn good attorneys. Minton looks way outmatched.
  13. Is it just me, or did Bevo have some insight here. He recoils when Beard walks up...like maybe he's skeered Beard's gonna strangle him? Never underestimate the natural instincts of animals.
  14. Probably more likely the Levelland Middle School PE teacher/7th grade basketball coach.
  15. My sincere apologies to CDC. I honestly didn't think he had it in him to do it.
  16. Maybe so, but when I go to Chicago, I just can't bring myself to eating Mexican food.
