  1. Ah, got it. That makes perfect sense. Thanks!
  2. I don't understand how Montana doesn't have any of the state of Montana??
  3. #9 gonna get his ass chewed by the ST coach. If he had just looked to his left he could have made the block to spring his teammate into the EZ.
  4. Wow, I feel like Tom Hagen all of a sudden. Tech is out? I didn't think we were bad a consigliere.
  5. Matt Wells doesn't know jack squat. He needs to just focus on football at this point and figure out how to no longer suck. Maybe if he had done a better job coaching the past two years we would have better TV ratings and be in a better spot to land in PAC12.
  6. That site is a beating. I quit reading it years ago. So did a lot of others, apparently.
  7. Somewhat. But the transfer portal, NIL, and the "super league" are going to finish off the job.
  8. Tech checking in. Crickets from Lubbock. The administration either (1) has absolutely nothing going on; or (2) for legal reasons has to keep quiet. My bet is on #1.
  9. Well said. I think what ESPN and the SEC and others don't really realize are the numbers behind the numbers. I think fans of "Tier 2" schools watch their conference mates play in other games because there is a related, vested interest in how those games turnout, or in how one conference is matching up with another. If we are relegated to a 32 team super conference/premier league and then all of the rest, there are going to be a lot of viewers who used to watch those tier 1 matchups who no longer are interested because there is no longer any connection to their team and/or region. I don't think that manifests right away, but over a few short years it could be. And then ESPN is going to wonder why these matchups aren't pulling in the viewership like they used to. CFB doesn't work like the NFL, it just doesn't. So making an NFL junior will not ultimately work. One this is for certain: It's going to be interesting to watch it play out.
  10. You're missing my point. CFB had a unique brand. This will destroy that. It's now NFL 2.0. It's like Coke coming out with "New Coke" to compete with Pepsi by basically eschewing it's recipe for Pepsi 2.0. The fans didn't like it. Full disclosure: I'm an old fart in a relatively young body. I think the jumbotrons were the beginning of CFB giving up it's unique gameday experience. This is just the final step in the complete conversion to a minor league of the NFL.
  11. I can't handle all of the irony in that. ESPN is the architect of this whole thing. Doesn't he understand that the people who sign his paycheck (authorize the direct deposit) are the ones he's upset with?
  12. In my opinion, that would be the only scenario that saves CFB from a fan-interest standpoint. If this happens, you keep a lot more fans and interest. But if the other scenario of only two mega conferences with a total of only 32 teams happens, then I think after a few short years viewership drops dramatically because it's basically NFL 2.0 and CFB would have successfully shot itself in the foot by ruining what made it unique from the NFL.
  13. I'm guessing the AD was Kirby Hocutt (Tech) and the "high-ranking Texas source" was Chris Beard.
  14. If the MWC and AAC had an illegitimate love child...
  15. 1. No, Grandpa Bill. The Big 12 is dead. 2. I'm a Tech alum and do not feel what UT did should be "illegal". At this point, ESPN is the evil truly behind the demise of college football. I'm not going to be interested in a semi-pro league where you have the same basic matchups every single year. Nothing about that sounds appealing to me. I hope Tech lands on its feet in the Pac 12/14/16 whatever, but I am not looking forward to what "college football" is going to look like in the next five years. I already hated the product that is today's game experience (jumbotron that fills every second between plays, blaring loud commercials and music, etc.) If I wanted that, I would go to a pro game. I miss the college football of just 20-30 years ago...where it still felt like you were on a college campus. And if I think it's bad now, just how much worse will it be when there are only 20-30 teams in the new "league".
  16. As someone who is deeply entrenched with SMU and Dallas, I can tell you this is false. Tech outdraws SMU 10:1, except maybe at The Barley House.
  17. 1. I think the legislator from Lubbock is just doing that to make it look like he tried to fight for Tech & Lubbock. I personally wish he would not do that because at this point it's a done deal and Tech needs to focus on making itself an attractive candidate to the PAC-12. 2. Like Yuk said, there is no way the Pac 12 or Tech would do anything publicly until after the UT/OU move to the SEC is official.
  18. The Big 12 will be no more. And that will be a good thing. As a Tech alum, I am hoping we end up in the Pac-12/Pac-16. I would like to see us, Okie St., KSU, and either ISU or KU packaged together to finish out the PAC-16 (either one of KU or ISU is probably headed to the Big10). I hope Baylor and TCU end up relegated to the AAC.
  19. I was drunk and angry and you all were being arrogant assholes, which of course is what we all do as anonymous posters on internet message boards, and so I responded as any red-blooded American male would. I flipped you the bird. That’s what guys do. Don’t be thin skinned about it. I flip the bird to people I like and dislike equally. Right now you fuckers are being insulting to us. A little bit. So I responded. Don’t get so pissy about it. You can flip the bird back at me. I won’t cry about it. In the end I think we may have actually gotten the better end of the deal. Or I might be wrong. Who knows.
  20. They can drink coffee but no alcohol. Good thing about being Lutheran. I can drink whatever I want. We just suck at college athletics.
  21. Not Mormons. I think they’re Pentacostal. Based on how they act in their church services, pretty sure they are well caffeinated.
