  1. This is 60% off on Steam, so $24. The season pass is 20% off, so $20.
  2. Geostorm. Holy shit what a bad movie. A-list cast but one of the worst movies I've ever watched start to finish. It's hard to imagine how this got funded.
  3. I recall now why I came to this so late...it was not on Steam for the first year it was released. Not that I love Steam or anything but I am loathe to add more store fronts to play games on the PC since they all suck compared to Steam. I hate the EA one, the Ubisoft one, the Epic one and even GOG with all its free/cheap content is amateur hour compared to Steam. Anyway. I am level 12 and just off the space station with a ton of different quests to do and 4 companions. Pretty wide open and fun at this point. One thing I will say that I hate is the loot. Its diablo style where its mostly randomly generated and 95% of what you pick up you are breaking down or selling. Not cool especially since encumbrance is a problem without perks or high strength. The game also has a Borderlands vibe to it IMO. In that the 'best' gun might not be for you and sometimes its a lot more fun to run with something that has a sight you like or particular effect.
  4. Just started this yesterday. Not sure why I waited so long. I see that the sequel was announced recently? Are the two DLCs for this one worth it?
  5. Fresh Fried and Crispy is pretty awesome. Huge dude that used to review fast food out of his car on YouTube apparently, who got famous enough to get a Netflix series where he goes to a city and eats at 3-4 places and then picks what he liked best. Guy is crazy charismatic and loves food like my dogs if they were people.
  6. With 10 teams and everyone playing each other there is no need for it now. It made sense, I guess, when the Big 12 was 12 teams and two divisions. Now it doesn't.
  7. We started the second season of Dear John last night and it was pretty good. I am not familiar with the real life events it is based on but Amanda Peet is doing a real good job of coming off as bat shit crazy. Christian Slater is the husband.
  8. This was a Kickstarter and in early access on Steam for a while. It got released last week I think. Game is from a small studio and this is their debut title. I started playing it Saturday and it has me hooked big time. It is a turn based CRPG based on DnD 5e. The most recent game I'd compare it to is Pathfinder Kingmaker but in turn based mode. Brand new world, ie. not Forgotten Realms which it seems like hosted every DnD game of the last 20 years. The cut scene graphics are pretty low end but the combat and the game systems are well done. I have not run across any bugs. If you like turn based combat in a fantasy setting this is well worth the $32 they are charging for it on Steam.
  9. Best thing from HBO in quite a while. Their app and service are steaming piles of shit though. We gave up trying to watch it Sunday and even last night it didn't want to load and when it finally did the resolution was bad for longer than normal. What happened at the creek and then later John's confession was exactly what I thought the ending was going to be based on episode 6. So it was pretty satisfying for them to work in a plausible scenario that was not that. Kate Winslet and her mom put in amazing work here. Also John's confession was a nice performance.
  10. Longterm I would like to see 8 and then stay there for as long as possible. I think 5 P5 and 3 at large (no automatic G5) is the way to go...that said, before we get there we have to figure out a way to make the sport more competitive at the top. As much as I hate to say it, every CFP so far it feels like only 1-2 teams has a chance to win it all. Even last year where most people didn't see aOSU wrecking Clemson, anyone with eyes knew Alabama was beating whoever. So in that regard its really no better than BCS so far. Also as far as an expanded playoff watering down the other bowls...they already are. College FBS is by far my favorite sport and I spend 12 hours most Saturdays during the regular season watching as many P5 games as I can. During bowl season, same thing. I find it very entertaining to see two P5 teams play each other who otherwise wouldn't. That isn't changing for me with 8 or a 16 game playoff. I don't give a shit about G5 (or FCS) schools unless there is a hot one like Coastal Carolina or Liberty last year.
  11. Picked up a Zion Z15, IWI's take on a basic AR-15. A little pricey for what it is, I paid $925 total. Typical IWI build quality though and a pretty nice factory trigger. Much nicer than the factory triggers on my Gen1 Ace and X95. It might be years before I shoot it though. Ammo still too steep for me and I want to hold what I have.
  12. I got rid of cable a while back...it was right before YouTubeTV was going to raise their price for the first time but existing subs were going to get grandfathered in. We already had Prime but we have that just for the shipping advantage so I never really considered that a streaming spend per se. So just going from a cable bundle to cable internet + YouTubeTV we saved like $90 a month. Insanity, like why didn't I do this earlier? The only thing I lost out on was LHN and I watched that like 5 times a year so whatever. Fast forward a few years later...YouTubeTV price has doubled and there's really nothing to show for it except for more channels no one cares about. Ironically its closer and closer to the cable bundle we canceled. I briefly ditched it after one of their many price increases and went to PS Vue when that was still around...got LHN back but overall the product was objectively shittier in every other way. Went back to YouTubeTV when Vue was canceled. Every time YouTubeTV hikes the price I check out alternatives but have not found one that is as good and cheaper. I used to torrent anything Netflix vs paying for it. After a while I realized that $20/month was a better deal overall than paying for a VPN and having to torrent. That said, Netflix is definitely getting worse. It's way too much foreign shit now and their new productions suck more often than they don't. The UI and the quality of the steam is top notch though and I don't see myself ever canceling. We have HBO Max as part of an ATT wireless promotion. Paid for it before that, when HBO was an add on option via Prime or YouTubeTV. HBO content is easily worth the price especially now that they have so many first run movies releasing on it. That said, the UI sucks and is laggy as shit and the streaming quality is 3rd world. Every single stream starts at like 240P or whatever the lowest is and then slowly improves from there. The Samsung HBO Max app streams inexplicably had a white line on the right side of the screen for months and HDR still does not work over it. Prime is next best for me. They have some good original content and older movies. A little annoying how often they are trying to sell you stuff but its not nearly as bad as Apple TV. UI is pretty good and snappy and the quality of the stream checks in around Netflix level. Apple TV we have because of an iPhone promotion. This service is by far the most expendable. I don't think I'd pay for it even though its less than the others. Ted Lasso was great, The Servant S1 was intriguing but ultimately disappointing to the point where we have not watched S2. That's really the only two series we've watched on it. Tried a few Mythic Quests and they just miss the mark for us despite having some funny moments. It's like a much shittier version of Silcon Valley. This service seems like it primarily exists to try and get you to rent/buy movies. At some point we will probably pick up the Disney+ bundle. Our grandson is over here a lot and my wife has been bugging me about it for a while now. For me personally there is nothing I care to see on it. Tried the Boba Fett show and it was ok but I am not a Star Wars die hard so I could take it or leave and the wife had zero interest. No interest at this time in any of the other options.
  13. AK is my favorite platform. I also have a Kreb's Custom, KV-13 mod 2 in 5.45x39. Amazing rifle, perfect trigger. What model do you have? I check their site a few times a year and they can't seem to keep any of the 'production' rifles in stock. It's mostly NFA shit or what looks to be 1 offs and consignment offerings.
  14. Yeah the last game really shit on what the previous two games had built. The whole galaxy score bullshit was fucking maddening. It's a single player franchise and all of a sudden you have to do some contrived multiplayer crap in order to get the 'best' ending which was still dogshit. I never revisited the game after the ending patch it left such a bad taste in my mouth.

    Formula 1 2021

Not a super fan by any stretch but this was boring as shit. Dude's wheel not coming off in a pit stop was the most exciting thing that happened all day.
  16. This was my first attempt at watching a NASCAR race in well over a decade, so I am far from a knowledgeable fan or the target audience. That said...this was an unwatchable product due to all of the commercials. I turned it off and back on twice and abandoned it entirely with maybe 20 laps to go. Were the insane amount of commercials because of all the yellow/red flags? Or are NASCAR races just filled with commercials? Coming from just having watched the F1 race a few hours earlier...the production gap between the two events was jarring. Not that I am a huge F1 fan either, but I have watched it off and on over the past two seasons...outside of football season I am always hurting for sports to watch. F1 races have amazing cameras seemingly everywhere...this race, not so much. For half of it it seemed like I was watching water on glass. As for the rain...I was surprised the race was not halted because for a while there were cars going off track or into each other lap after lap. Again as someone who just happened upon the broadcast, it seemed almost farcical. Does that always happen in NASCAR when it's wet? F1 handles wet weather much better based on my limited sample size. And maybe that's just the nature of the differences between the cars but if so you'd think they'd have rain delays or something like that. All that said, commercials aside this was more entertaining than the F1 race earlier in the day where there were exactly two exciting moments and both of them were caused by equipment failure. Counting the days until September...

    Wasteland 3

IMO it is a great game and better than 2, which I liked but just was released too soon.
  18. Army of the Dead was good but it was way too long.
  19. Yeah somehow we had never seen this. Watched it last night and thought it was great.
  20. A few years back when the hurricane shut down the gulf coast refineries and most of the gas stations were dry, it was common to see idiots driving around with trash cans full of gas sloshing around in a truck bed. San Antonio.
  21. I have the Ace gen 1 rifle in 7.62x39. It looks like the primary difference between gen 1 and 2 is an mlok foreend out of the box. This was probably the most popular aftermarket part for the gen 1, that or the trigger. I love IWI stuff and the Ace is no exception.
  22. I work in Cybersecurity for a US refiner. We are hearing that their business network was completely compromised. OT allegedly was not, but was shutdown as a precaution. Down since Friday morning, supposed to be back online by this Friday. The places that are fucked now are from panic buying. There are imminent supply issues for almost every SE state though. GA TN SC NC AL MS VA are most at risk and roughly in that order.
  23. Haven't read the book, was not expecting much from a Michael B Jordan movie. That said, we didn't hate it and it was an easy watch. Bald female Navy SEAL was strange.

    2021 NFL DRAFT

Mac Jones at 15 to the Pats is a great pick. To me his comp is Burrow who went #1 overall last year...
