  1. Up 5 feet in the last 2 days and still rising.
  2. Not something we get to say often but the lake is on the rise in July. It’s actually up 3.5 feet in the last few months and should go up another 5 feet from the recent rains.
  3. Per a CNN article: Trump's Secret Service detail was given additional assets that is part of the protocol for the presumptive nominee due to his heavy campaigning, which includes additional manpower, counter-sniper, drones and robotic dogs, the law enforcement official said. On Saturday, there were four counter-sniper teams on site, the official said.
  4. I’m on the beach in port aransas. Doomed? Drunk? Both?
  5. This is the fastest way to get Biden out. The DNC won’t fuck around if money starts to dry up, and it will.
  6. Our spring rains brought Travis up a little and it’s currently at 40.9% full. The bigger news is that Buchanan went from 46% full to 77% full in the last 3 months. We are now entering the part of the year with the highest usage, least rain, and most evaporation. Should be able to avoid disaster but it will be interesting to see what shape the lakes are in at the end of summer.
  7. What happens to the bond money that is being collected for this project? Does it go into an (Al Gore) lockbox or can the money be used for other cap metro purposes? Assuming it has to go towards the rail project that was voted on, it seems like we should get something out of it, even if drastically reduced in scale. They are collecting a shit load of money.
  8. When I tell them we aren’t the best fit, they trust me more and want to work with us…..but still aren’t a good fit. Hard as hell to turn down the business but I know which obstacles will still be there in 6 months when we are at the finish line.
  9. Absolutely true. I source 100% of my own deals and knew that would be the case when I took the job. The part that makes it workable is that I can qualify/disqualify a prospect (school district) in about 30 seconds. Makes conversations at conferences and even through email really easy.
  10. I’m 41, self manage, and have nothing in bonds. Not sure I ever will. My goal is to have a draw rate low enough that I feel safe keeping it in index funds. I will also have social security, TRS pension from 15 year in ed, and investment properties. Don’t really see where bonds would help me.
  11. Cold emails that a very general like in the OP hit at less than 1%. On the flip side I sent 5 very specific ones last Friday and got 4 responses that day. If you do some research ahead of time and can quickly explain why your product solves a likely problem they have, it’s a game changer. Anybody that writes cold emails should follow Josh Braun’s free advice. When I got hired at my new job they said don’t bother with emails because they only get business through connections and conferences. Good thing I didn’t listen!
  12. Looks like the hill country has another chance for a round of rains this evening. The Travis basin is in the line of storms but I’m sure the force field will be up and running. It is one of the few remaining areas in central Texas that is still experiencing a drought.
  13. Been in a new role for 3.5 months with the first month being onboarding. I sell to school districts so it’s get something across the finish line this month or wait until next year. Have a proposal out that would get me to my fake onboarding quota. Totally fine if it doesn’t happen in terms of job security because nobody really expected me to get this far this quickly. I also have a good base so I will be fine financially. Usually takes 6-12 months to get a deal done. However it’s still nerve wracking to either hit a home run or strike out with no in between. I’ve teed this one up about as well as possible so now it’s just a waiting game.
  14. Buchanan is up to 66% full. A lot of the recent rains have been in the right spot for it. Travis hasn’t seen much improvement. Not seeing rain in forecast for the next week. Doomed?
  15. “Researchers found between 25% to 50% of the water running through Waller Creek — which crosses along UT Austin’s campus — is the product of leaky city pipes, UT officials said in a release. Those leaks provide a gift, allowing the creek to help nourish trees along its banks, even during drought conditions.“ Good lord.
  16. Pouring in my part of Round Rock, which also will flow to the Brazos via Brush Creek…..
  17. How many of our courses are pulling treated lake Travis water vs gray water and water from their own retention ponds?
  18. Where does that red blob to the right flow to?
  19. I drove for Uber way back when it was a new thing in Austin. Rolled up to a house in pflugerville to pick up somebody with a man’s name. The garage door opens and a middle school/early high school aged girl start walking to my car. When she was about halfway to the car, her mom pulls into the driveway PISSED off. She starts going off on the daughter and then comes at me. I show her the app and explain that I was here to pick up some guy. Turns out it was the dad’s account and he was out of town. I pulled off and called the dad since his number was attached to the account and I was going to try to help him get out of the cancellation fee. He was a complete dick so I let it hit and went about my night. Glad I didn’t get shot. /CSB
  20. Isn’t Austin College really expensive? Maybe that was part of the humble brag.
  21. I agree with your take on removing Hamas being the holdup in any peace talks. But I don’t see any round table being taken seriously by Israel. They see them as a deadly cancer they are cutting out. If you leave any, it can quickly resurface.
  22. No idea if this is true but I’ve heard that in California you lock in your taxes at the purchase price. Prevents people from being forced out of their homes due to rapid value increases.
  23. McCallum pulls from as far west as past 360. It borders Eanes in some areas and has the same demographics in those parts. There are always some exceptions, but the kids and parents are way more relaxed (in a good way) than neighboring districts and other HS tracks. Having gone to Westwood and worked at a lot of these schools, McCallum would be my first choice.
