  1. Packing the court is a full on regarded idea. What would we be saying right now if trump was pushing that? He’s already got an advantage, which could be expanded with RBG or anybody else going down in the next year. Add two more picks for him and it would be lost for a generation or we go into a civil war fighting it. So why would I be ok with my side doing the same thing? Seems a bit hypocritical.
  2. These hit squads are really strange to me because there is no revenge factor. They are just ruining the lives of random people for no reason. It seems like these groups are attracting some seriously mentally ill people, which makes a little sense considering it is a high risk job. The characteristics of a psychopath seem to match up well with somebody in this field who is arrogant, takes big risks, don’t have remorse, and are very manipulative.
  3. Damn, complete menu overhaul?
  4. Those video links posted above I watched the HPD video and immediately thought that it didn’t make sense. I was excited to hear the other guy’s take. However, it appears that he must be a pirate as it’s the only explanation why he would have a screeching bird that obnoxious. Is there anybody not related to Blackbeard claiming the two hour thing?
  5. Sorry, I haven’t had a chance to keep up with every facet of this ridiculous situation. Where is the two hour thing coming from?
  6. Not sure how many name changes they can withstand but I agree that the food is pretty good. Should have just stuck with verts.
  7. I wonder how many people are going to get let out of jail when all of this comes to light. Any other case involving this group of dirty cops testimony should be tossed. Not really easy to prove when you started lying. Once your credibility is gone then everybody should get out IMO.
  8. I was watching the news this morning and they were showing that some police dog now has a bullet proof vest to keep it safe. Quite ironic considering the first thing the cops do is shoot the family dog in front of the terrified owners. Shoot the cop dog and you will rot under the jail. They kill your dog as a matter of procedure.
  9. The dice doesn’t have a memory so it doesn’t matter what was rolled previously. The odds are adjusted for each of the numbers so, over time, you would come out the same as betting the 6 and 8. In the short term you might be better off.
  10. This issue is very simple to me. Either everybody gets their person of faith (within reason) or nobody does. It has nothing to do with the murderer being a terrible person. Theoretically, everybody in that situation is. This is purely about southern conservatives pushing their brand of religion on everybody else per the usual. They will also tell you that they are under attack and their religious freedoms are being taken away.
  11. Thread title had me thinking tiger woods was back at it.
  12. I’ve read a theory that if we got rid of property taxes, home values would quickly float up to where people’s payments would be roughtly the same. The example would be a person goes to a mortgage calculator and sees what they could afford and buys a house in that price range. It could be a 300k house without property taxes or a 220k house with property taxes. Monthly payment ends up the same. Of course, if you already own a home, it works out great for you because your house is worth more and you don’t have to pay taxes anymore.
  13. Because people love to give money to support their confirmation bias.
  14. Tried out Whitestone in cedar park for the first time today. The standard offerings are decent and the taproom is worth a visit if you are out that way. Nothing worth a special trip though. I did like the melted snowman winter ale more that the online reviews give it credit for. They have some at the brewery that is bourbon barrel aged. Only really mentioning it because I know we have quite a few north Austin/norther burbs folk on here.
  15. I agree with everything you said other than that we do teach it in schools now. Financial literacy starts in 3rd grade where they are taught about credit, debit, savings, interest, debt, etc. Obviously that is only for Texas and the kids that started the program aren’t in the workforce yet, but it’s now happening. The lege is proposing a new graduation requirement for a specific financial course in high school this session.
  16. Republicans lose a lot of seats then double down on stupid. Potty Patrick hasn’t even started his stupidity yet. Keep digging your graves.
  17. I personally like this approach because it factors in retirement spending instead of just picking a random big number to try to hit. It also gets people to think about living in a paid off house, driving paid off cars, etc. A $1500 mortgage adds $450,000 to the number you would need to save. Getting rid of that before retirement is much easier for most people than adding 450k onto a number they are trying to reach.
  18. Male voice: We’re very upset about this whole thing. We do not want something like this in our neighborhood. Take that off the internet. That’s disgusting. We don’t want that. Leonard: Sir, if the owner wants those photos on the listing, that’s their choice! Male voice: You’ve got to take them down! We live next door and we don’t want this! This is what entitlement looks like. It’s all about what he wants and he’s going to throw a fit.
  19. 1. I agree. Middle schoolers anywhere are dumbasses. 2. A lot of shit has happened at the low income minority schools over the years and it gets 10 seconds on the nightly news once and it’s done. Something happens to a rich white kid and it’s national news for weeks and panties are all in wads.
  20. Pretty sure (not 100%) that it wasn’t the librarian. Only reason I’m commenting at all is because I don’t want her reputation to suffer if it wasn’t her.
