  1. Completely agree. Ted used to debate actual issues. I disagreed with him and found his face punchable, but I respected his intelligence. At this point, he’s selling shit sandwiches because that’s what people are buying.
  2. Teds “points” are such contrived bullshit. Pure fear mongering for the olds and dog whistles for the people predisposed to getting riled up about blacks/cops, kneeling, murica. With few exceptions, these are not real issues, just red meat for the mouth breathing base. We are not that far removed from a Republican Party that could stand on ideas and debate them. Now, it’s purely preying on the insecurities of the gullible. Ted Cruz is no better than a guy trying to scam grandma over the phone.
  3. Hadn’t been out in circle C in a while. Holy shit - Beto signs everywhere. One cul de sac had 5 of 6 houses.
  4. I’m wondering if has to do with educational background and income. For example, do low income whites vote more than low income minorities? What about high income for both?
  5. The demographics are changing is an old argument. They already did change. The same old people are voting though. So frustrating.
  6. Bend over and I’ll show ya. /griswold
  7. It seems like they have to extrapolate the weights of each response based on past voting trends. In the past the likely voters turn out and the unlikely ones don’t. It’s been the same for 30 years in Texas. If Beto is able to bring young/unlikely voters into the fold, I don’t see how polls like this will be very accurate. Dont get me wrong, relying on people that never vote to vote for you is a strategy that you don’t take unless you are a democrat running for statewide election in Texas. But, the one thing I keep bringing up is the number of potential voters on the sidelines in Texas. Our turnout rate is bottom 5. The votes are out there and Beto is the type of guy that can go get them. Likely voter polls will skew towards Cruz. Election Day/early voting GOTV will skew towards Beto. Election night will be interesting.
  8. Shameless plug for MJ. If you have donated to Beto, actblue already has your info and you can make a donation to MJ in less than 5 seconds. Do it because she’s a badass and has a real shot at flipping a historically republican district.
  9. Cruz is such an insufferable prick.
  10. Plano went for Hillary. Burbs are changing fast.
  11. I would typically feel terrible for the Muslim guy in this situation. But, he actively sought to join a group that is widely known for its hatred of Muslims. Take a quick tour of Texags to see how Texas Republicans feel about people of his faith. Sorry if I don’t lose any sleep over this one.
  12. The state continuously puts us (districts) in a bad spot on serving kids with special needs. It’s not only the lack of funding, it’s the nasty audits you would get as punishment if you actually attempted provide services to “too many kids”. Districts that went over that 8.5% mark got shit on with audit after audit that took more time and resources away from students. The response from districts was typically to serve dyslexic students through 504 instead of special education. Works great if your school has a great CALT and the kid is functioning high enough to attend a gen-ed class instead of a SPED class. Has always worked well for my school because we have two CALTs on campus, one of which only serves kids that aren’t in special ed. Most schools....not so much. But, things are looking better on that front already as we have gotten the go ahead to put more of the severe dyslexic kids in special education if that’s what they truly need. No thanks to TEA, the SBOE, and the Texas legislature. They never gave a damn about the kids and I’m happy the parents on here that got screwed are informed enough to point the blame in the right direction.
  13. I don’t think republicans are dumping a bunch of money on Cruz because they have internals showing anything much different than the public polls. I just think they understand the importance of this race and the place Texas holds in national politics. Beto winning would be a big step in creating a plan of how to turn Texas blue. Of course, all of this is happening while Texas demographics are becoming more blue friendly by the day. A decent cruz win and they weather the storm in a blue year against a very capable (understatement) challenger. Easy to make the case for Texas staying red in statewide elections for another decade.
  14. I think the sooner the better because they can use it for more purposes. Organization and GOTV efforts are expensive. Later in the game it seems like it would just go for last minute tv ads. But, I don’t know shit. Beto is the first politician I’ve given money to.
  15. I will now refer to both as tony’s sack.
  16. Why do all the attack ads against Beto insist on saying his name bay-toe with a country accent? Answer: we all know why.
  17. The lesson was learned and the dem base is the most motivated I have ever seen. We tend to be a complacent bunch though. I could see taking back the house and the presidency in the next couple of years then thinking all the work is done. Need to learn to stay hungry and gotv even when things are good. You can go from good to trump wiping his ass with every American value you hold dear in one night.
  18. Just saw a ridiculous ad attacking Beto for the first time. It starts with “rolling out the red carpet for illegal immigrants” in an angry voice. It’s so over the top that I hope it doesn’t gain much traction. All the people gullible enough to fall for it are already voting cruz.
  19. I don’t do anything other than donate to Beto and MJ and talk to people I run into that are interested in politics.....and vote. Only (mostly) voted in presidential election cycles before reading this thread. I don’t see myself sitting out any race in the future. Although I voted for HRC, that election served as a permanent reminder that politics belong to those that show up. One thing that keeps me motivated is the opportunity that Texas Democrats have right now. They have been irrelevant for most of my 35 years, but now they have possibly the most important mission of any state. If Texas goes purple, republicans will have to devote resources away from other typical battle ground states. If Texas goes blue, Dems will control the White House as long as it stays blue. That’s not even considering the increase in Texas congressional seats that would be held by Dems. All of those “irrelevant votes” over the years have shown that there is hope here and that things are changing quickly. We aren’t there yet but we wouldn’t be this close if it weren’t for those of you that have consistently shown up to the polls to vote for Democrats that had no chance.
  20. I’ve always read his posts in a Yosemite Sam voice anyway so this just confirms my hunch.
  21. We would all be better off if we just went back to subsistence agriculture like chrispy on his ranch. We can just live off the fatta the lan.
  22. So, just to make sure I have this straight, you think trump won because he promised the most free stuff? Other than the wall Mexico is going to pay for.
  23. And that’s why trump is president?
