  1. We are testing a lot of kids with fevers that are coming back negative.
  2. Big change coming. If there is a positive case in a class, nobody has to quarantine if the positive person and the people that were around them were both wearing masks the whole time. Lunch could still be an issue but it will end the whole class quarantines. If you are a close contact due to lunch or some other reason you can get a test 5 or more days after exposure then come back on day 7. This second part is in place now.
  3. That’s a district change that just came out. The rules are about to change again Friday. Fun times.
  4. I saw that they are allowing religious exemptions as an out. Not sure what religion bans masks, but whatever. Probably all of the religions in round rock by 7:30 this morning.
  5. Round Rock does away with opting out of masks. Rednecks are mad. Water is wet.
  6. The reporting delays are usually from parties outside of school. I found out one of my kids was exposed at daycare a week after the fact. Daycare worker took a couple of days to report, then the daycare took a day to report then the parents took a couple of days (it was the weekend), and I end up knowing a week later.
  7. We go back 48 hours after the kid starts showing symptoms. Likely means the kid started showing symptoms on Sunday and was kept home on Monday. It’s obviously not going to be 100% effective but we never saw massive school spread with the system last year. Let’s see if it holds up with delta.
  8. FWIW I have had 0 mask problems between my students and staff. No complaints, no reminders needed. I would have major issues with the students being pissed if there was anybody refusing to wear a mask in their class. My 10 year olds are more reasonable than most of this country. Central-ish Austin.
  9. My school made it through the first week covid free. Week two might not be so lucky.
  10. I believe my staff is 95% vaccinated. Guess we are about to find out…
  11. The teacher part is maddening. If they aren’t vaxed it comes out of their personal/sick days. Fuck em.
  12. 0 mask issues at my school today. I’ve never had a mask issue with a kid since this whole thing started.
  13. If we send the entire class home then the teacher can teach remotely. We just won’t ask them to do both at the same time. The teacher can still come to work if vaccinated and not showing any symptoms. As students get vaccinated, they will be able to stay as well. I have a lot of students starting the year in quarantine.
  14. Has to be that way. There’s no way to effectively contact trace for 20 elementary students that have been in the same room for 8 hours. It’s going to happen early and often. Telling my teachers that they have to be prepared to go remote within 24 hours.
  15. You seem sensitive. Maybe try a board that’s less….surly.
  16. I’m not a group of people and I’ve never tried to keep people on here from using that language.
  17. In most of those cases we have backup plans ready to go to keep the place running. People from central office or other schools can shift over. Classes quarantining will be a thing but I don’t think we will see widespread staff issues. In many cases the class will have to quarantine but the teacher won’t, if vaccinated.
