  1. Word in Washington is there's going to be a congressional hearing on the 3 v 3 debacle. It could really ugly and make the 1950's McCarthy hearings look like a game show.
  2. Australia is the new Aggy. "if you count gold medals by population and only count the top ten small populations, and tally the medals for only the first week, we won the Olympics!"
  3. Westlake starts and ends with their offensive and defensive lines, which will be good, but not the best ever. We have a good QB who will play at the next level. We lost our great little running back, who went to Army. We should get to the state quarterfinals, and with luck, the semifinals. We can't get past North Shore these days.
  4. Paging @Helobious My beloved Chaps are opening at home vs San Benito. Can you please provide me any info about what to expect, players to watch for, etc? Thnx in advance.
  5. Depends on whose rules you played with. The 92 game was more physical. Today's game allows less physicality. The '24 team is more athletic overall and better at shooting 3's.
  6. I'm not sure. The 2024 team has had to play much better competition. The Dream Team played nobodies with just a few of the teams lucky to have one mid-NBA player. There were 9 NBA players on other teams, with some of the opponents, like Angola, with none. This year, there are 139 NBA and WNBA professional players competing in basketball. Mighty Lithuania was sponsored by The Grateful Dead to raise money so they could attend the Olympics.* The Dream Team's '92 opponents would be crushed by teams like Serbia and France today. *Lithuania beating their hated, former Russian masters for the Bronze was the actual best story from the 1992 Olympics basketball.
  7. Shout-out to super-great Cedric Baxter. My boy will be back stronger than ever! I love that he's already thinking about a career in branding and apparel after football.
  8. As I said, Ultimate Frisbee SHOULD be an Olympic sport. It’s awesome! And if we don’t bring the gold home in Break Dancing, which is an Olympic sport this year, then you’re gonna see me get REALLY ANGRY! I used to work on the US Olympic committee ad campaign. One of the clients told me they pulled softball/baseball because offically, the stadiums would then sit empty if it was held in weird, pansy countries that didn’t play baseball, like Greece. He said the real reason was because Eurosofties were trying to find a way to deprive the US of more medals. Screw them. Baseball is coming back in LA in 2028. USA, USA!
  9. Here are the facts: FIBA-sanctioned 5 on 5: Hugely popular sport. International stars generate hundreds of millions of $ for the sport. One of the most visible sports in the world results in: 2 gold medals. 3 vs 3: Lame sport that no one cares about. Best players don't play in it and gets very little visibility, also results in: 2 gold medals. They have the exact same importance in the medal count. I like to see the US stick it to China, just like we did in Tokyo four years ago, 39 to 38 gold medals USA, USA! Winning the medal table means a lot to both countries, probably even more in China. We should be able to win a lame 3 v 3 tournament in the sport we invented and is played everywhere in our glorious country.
  10. This is a brand, new version of the old post. I'm too lazy to scroll down through my old memes, so I recreated it, as it's one of my faves. Collect 'em all!
  11. This team rolls the Dream Team. Prove me wrong.
  12. This is so inspiring to watch our team doing so well ON THE WORLD STAGE. If we can continue to compete and build a true basketball culture, it makes me dare to dream of a day when US players can compete with the best 3 vs 3 players and shock the world!
  13. I wasn't joking about Ultimate Frisbee, which has previously been an Olympic exhibition sport. I think it's a great game with amazing athletes.
  14. I had forgotten that boxing was an Olympic sport. I'm glad it's been eliminated. It's a barbaric enterprise. Ultimate Frisbee would be a better Olympic sport than flag football, as it's played in lots of other countries now. They're quite good at it in Japan, Canada, Australia, England and many European countries. Glad to see Lacrosse is being added. it's a popular sport in the US and lots of people play it. I could see those drone-loving bastards in Canada beating us, though. Perhaps one day, basketball will grow in popularity in the US, and we too can compete in 3 vs 3 basketball against countries where it's a deep part of the culture, like the Netherlands.
  15. Aggy should be top 5 just on the basis of being SEC ready, which is something Texas can't even understand.
  16. We still have scoreboard over Aggy with our LBJ School of Pubic Affairs program. I really need to buy one on ebay!
  17. This is why I love Surly. An already funny conversation about UCLA's new coach has morphed into Alvin Ailey/Tommy Tune smack-talk.
  18. I was really just trying to be funny and hit my weekly post quota.
  19. Every sport is made up, haha. And considering hundreds of thousands of people play it in the US, you would think we could find a few who are good.
  20. How embarrassing is it that the US can't find 3 good players men and women to play 3-on-3 in the Olympics? Is the rim height in meters?
  21. I'll use the word excited since that are the rules for this thread, but as a father of two fabulous young women, we are way past the point of excitement and hope for a better future. This is about saving their rights, along with our constitutional republic for them and their upcoming families from the Trump cultists.
