I have absolutely no idea. He has recently whined about the lack of professionalism from player's agents, claiming many have no accreditation or understanding of the process whatsoever. I did see an interesting TikTok created by a female volleyball player. She said it was unnerving how the minute she placed herself into the portal, she was instantly cut off from all university services such as gyms, weight rooms, health services, trainers, tutors, advisors, etc. I wonder if athletes understand that.

College athletes were thrilled when the portal became a thing, and it has paid off for many. However, what is interesting (and slightly funny) is that so many assumed it was all upside, except for two little icky things: 1: Leaving for more playing time/money is great...if you can find a better situation. For every Joe Burrow story, there are two Tate Martells. 2: Players can come in and replace YOU

Perhaps the best description of Surly Horns ever written. Could possibly be the tagline.

I honestly hope that this is where you get your frustrations out, and that you don't take them out on your wife.

This 100%. Each season we get the usual verbal diarrhea from the 9.95 crowd about why this year’s recruit class is the best ever, yet so many of them seemingly disappear and never sniff the field. I guess the 9.95s understand what their audience wants to hear.

I am not sure but if so, that’s awesome. I do know when I watched him vs Penn State have an incredible game, I was amazed to learn he was the backup! He played cause the starter was hurt. That’s some freaking great coaching and effort on his part.

Well, one thing we can be sure of, and that is EVERY coach always thinks they are the one who can coach someone up.

There’s really two philosophies and both have pros and cons. One is the Texas one where you go pay the elite athlete and hope he contributes for the one or two years he is here and the other is the Indiana one to pursue older, less-accomplished players who are coachable and highly motivated. Butler, of course, was able to compete at the top level in basketball w teams laden with homegrown seniors. I find the scramble over the Auburn WR to be slightly concerning, and it may be more disruptive to your team than providing value.

But they also have Charlie Becker, a sophomore, 2-star receiver who makes amazing catch after catch. He’s a tall, skinny white dude who’s not terribly fast but gets open and hangs on to the ball. Watch his catches vs Penn State, which were incredible, and he made the late catch against Ohio State that allowed them to run to run the clock down. Could Cignetti think that Livingstone can perform that role for him? We shall see.

running between the tackles on 3rd and/or 4th and short
Great points but this should be posted in the already existing Running between the tackles on 3rd and/or 4th and short thread

TEXAGS Vinny 3:45p Yea, still not buying that Cignetti's better than Elko. I think Elko could have done the same thing in Indiana with that schedule.- Parker Livingstone
Sounds like the name of a movie about soldiers in Iraq. Or maybe the play the QB calls in the movie to win the game: "Okay, screw coach. Let's go with 84 balls Wingo. (Other players gasp) And Tommy, I'll have the ball there. You got this!!!!"- Parker Livingstone
Don't you dare talk that way about Johntay. He provided us a lot of entertainment this time last year. Best was when he was at Washington for48 hours before being asked to leave, though he claimed deciding to leave was a 'mutual decision.' Word is he stole stuff from other player's lockers. Glad to see he has gotten himself back together to some degree, though the talk is he wants to transfer again.- This is who Steve Sarkisian is.
None of this matters.- This is who Steve Sarkisian is.
That is actually a great question and I thank you for asking it. What I want is a coach that can motivate a player to say what Fernando Mendoza said after beating Ohio State. I highlighted the parts that are most instructional: "We were never supposed to be in this position, but by the glory of God, great teammates and great coaches around us, we were able to pull this off, and now the Hoosiers are flipping' champs. Let's go! IT'S THE RIGHT PLACE CAUSE WE'RE PROCESS-ORIENTED. We're going day-by-day. The offensive line, the defense, the coaches, the special teams. WE'RE ALL PROCESS-ORIENTED TO ONE GOAL. We're brothers, cause we know we're going to stick together to make the strongest glue ever." (ABOUT WR CHARLIE BECKER) "Charlie is incredible cause EVERY DAY THIS SUMMER AND EVERY DAY BEFORE PRACTICE WE THROW. AT 7AM ON SUNDAYS. DOING ROUTES. And now it's all coming to fruition. As well as our defense playing light's out, along with everybody. What an incredible moment." IMHO, that's what it takes to be exceptional in anything. I think Sark is capable of fielding a good team, but not an exceptional one with the attitude Mendoza illustrated for us. His teams are a reflection of him — they are, for various culture reasons, dispassionate. So yes, sadly, I want a new coach. ☹️- This is who Steve Sarkisian is.
Watching Cignetti's team currently tearing Alabama a new one. Compare how they play full-throttle all game to how Sark's teams played in year five. Indiana is ahead 38-3 and Cignetti looks pissed at his defense. It took Cignetti less than two seasons to build this team. Sark is finished with year five and it's a mess with excuses about babysitting coaches, no featured running backs, and wide receivers who can't catch. But it's the defenive coach's fault. Glad we got that cleared up. But trust in the process with Sark. We need to give him another five-to-seven years so he can really implement his program and come up with a new slogan.- This is who Steve Sarkisian is.
Amazing that so many people are just fine with mediocre results. It’s very TexAgs, honestly.- This is who Steve Sarkisian is.
So Texas isn't the richest athletic program and we made the 12-team playoffs?- This is who Steve Sarkisian is.
Totally 100% agree. It's not that hard.- This is who Steve Sarkisian is.
So Texas isn't the richest program yet couldn't get into the 12 team playoff? Care to actually address that issue?- This is who Steve Sarkisian is.
Fair enough. Here's one: 2025-26 College Football Playoff Teams (12-Team Format) #1 Indiana Hoosiers (Big Ten) #2 Ohio State Buckeyes (Big Ten) #3 Georgia Bulldogs (SEC) #4 Texas Tech Red Raiders (Big 12) #5 Oregon Ducks (Big Ten) #6 Ole Miss Rebels (SEC) #7 Texas A&M Aggies (SEC) #8 Oklahoma Sooners (SEC) #9 Alabama Crimson Tide (SEC) #10 Miami Hurricanes (ACC) #11 Tulane Green Wave (AAC) #12 James Madison Dukes (Sun Belt) Here's another: Richest College Athletic Programs (2025 Valuation) University of Texas ($1.48B): Leads in revenue, driven by $137 million in donations and a massive NIL budget of $35M-$40M for 2025. Ohio State University ($1.35B): Consistently among the top, with high revenue from football and large athletic department valuation. Texas A&M University ($1.32B): A top SEC program with significant valuation. University of Georgia ($1.16B): Boosted by recent national championship success and growing revenue. University of Michigan ($1.16B): A perennial top-five program in revenue and valuation. University of Notre Dame ($1.13B): Strong independent, consistently high-valued, and revenue-generating. - Tell Me About Texas a&m
