Texas Offseason 2025 - Archmania Is Upon Us
The poor captain kept coming on the intercom every 15 minutes to 'update' us on the situation, although he had no updates.

Apparently, their IT went down. I thought we had it bad 'til i stepped off the plane and saw the people in a long line trying to re-book their flights...at 3am!! Wonder where they all slept? Probably in the chairs.- Texas Offseason 2025 - Archmania Is Upon Us
Hahah, I did most of it on an airplane last night, as Alaska Airlines kept us on the tarmac AFTER midnight for two hours waiting to deplane in Austin. Nightmare.- Texas Offseason 2025 - Archmania Is Upon Us

Guessing everyone who couldn't locate someone called it in as a drowning. Plus, there were probably lots of fakes from people looking for handouts. This was quite common after 911. In fact, a very popular President of the 911 Survivors Committee wasn't even in the country when it happened!!! "The former President of the World Trade Center Survivors' Network, Tania Head, was exposed as a fraud. Her real name is Alicia Esteve Head, a Spanish woman who was not in the United States on September 11, 2001. She had fabricated her entire story of surviving the attacks and losing a fiancé in the collapse of the towers. Tania Head's fabricated story and exposure Claimed experience: Tania Head claimed to have been in the South Tower on the 78th floor, the same floor where the second plane hit. She vividly described horrific scenes, being rescued by Welles Crowther (who died saving others), and being handed a wedding ring by a dying man. She also claimed to have lost her fiancé in the North Tower. Role in the Survivors' Network: Tania Head became a prominent figure in the 9/11 survivor community, serving as president of the World Trade Center Survivors' Network and advocating for survivors' recognition. Her emotional story and dedication resonated with other survivors. Exposure: In 2007, inconsistencies in Head's story began to emerge, particularly as a New York Times investigation into a profile on Head revealed discrepancies. It was discovered that Tania Head was actually Alicia Esteve Head, a Spanish native who was in Barcelona at the time of the attacks. Her alleged fiancé was a real victim, but his family confirmed they had never met Head. Impact of the revelation: The revelation of Head's deception deeply impacted the survivor community, though some acknowledge her positive contributions to the network before her true identity was known. Head subsequently disappeared from public life. This case is a tragic reminder of the potential for individuals to exploit tragedies for personal gain and the importance of verifying accounts, particularly in emotionally charged situations."- Texas Offseason 2025 - Archmania Is Upon Us

This is precisely why the spokesman for the camp can whine all he wants about constantly getting alerts and this was the '100 year flood' that no one was prepared for (ehhh, except the people at Camp Mo) and all it is irrelevant.- 4th of July Texas Flood
That is a very, very good question.- 4th of July Texas Flood
100%. This wasn't like the big outdoor concert was spoiled due to an unexpected rainstorm and they are refusing to refund guest's money. 27 young girls and young adult counselors were killed due to their negligence. That dude needs to shut the fuck up. Better to just say, "we have no words to express our sorrow and all thoughts should be focused on the families who are mourning."- 4th of July Texas Flood
Well, I have to hand it to the spokesperson for the Camp Mystic property. Dude knows how to say on message. "Camp Mystic’s co-owner only started evacuating campers more than 45 minutes after getting an emergency alert about the “life-threatening” flash floods, it has been revealed. “They had no information that indicated the magnitude of what was coming,” the family spokesperson, Jeff Carr, said of the floods that would kill 27 children and counselors. “They got a standard run-of-the-mill NWS warning that they’ve seen dozens of times before,” Carr said." OMG, it was only a standard "life threatening" message! Why didn't we tell us this sooner? Forget about everything. Camp Mystic is absolved of all responsibility!- 4th of July Texas Flood
So this is exactly what I talking about the cult trying to control the message like my local church did after a drowning at their poorly-managed summer wakeboard camp. This paragraph has a quote loaded w meaning: Dick Eastland died trying to rescue some of the youngest girls. Carr (spokesman for the owners) said that before making further comment, the surviving Eastland family members were gathering Sunday “really for the first time” to share experiences and knowledge of what happened that morning. “It will be important to go through this process and avoid sharing information on a piecemeal basis,” he said. In other words, everyone shut the fuck up and let's spin this as best we can to avoid trouble. Fuck those cheap, scummy, cult motherfuckers. I hope they get sued into oblivion. @South Austin, we need you!- 4th of July Texas Flood

That would be my hope, as well. I have a funny feeling the lawyers for the property will make sure there won't be much to collect. I remember after the Columbine massacre, the families placed a large white cross on a hilltop for each person murdered. Some mother fucking moron jackass added two large black crosses to match the others at the memorial to honor the two shooters. One of the fathers of the murdered children pulled them down almost as soon as they went up. I honestly am pretty feeling done with the stupidity in this state and would like to go back to NYC.- 4th of July Texas Flood
What if the lead of the families of the deceased is to stay silent and not file lawsuits? I would hope not, but stranger things have happened.- 4th of July Texas Flood
Thnx. It's a really good one, too.- 4th of July Texas Flood
It's a little early for an organized response since everyone is in mourning and facts are slowly being uncovered, but I find her statement encouraging for the following reason: I have a connection to the Mystic community and they have voiced a fear that the cult would band together and pressure people not to sue for a myriad of reasons, including faith, politics, MAGA, etc. We had it happen here when a member of a nearby church camp drowned on the lake. So I find her willingness to voice criticism a good sign.- 4th of July Texas Flood
From the excellent MSN article. Nice to see that some parents aren't a part of the Camp Mystic cult and are already speaking out in protest. And this one is a lawyer. 'Serena Aldrich, a lawyer from San Antonio whose two girls were rescued from Camp Mystic, said leaders “should have been taking every precaution,” given the risk. “My opinion is that they should have been paying attention to those warnings and evacuated the camp,” she said. “The flooding is not a new thing. I don’t know if it’s ever been to epic proportions like that, but ignoring the warnings doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.”'- 4th of July Texas Flood
I've already quoted this wondrous quote, but it bears repeating: Kerr County Judge Robert Kelly said at a news conference on July 5 that “no one knew this kind of flood was coming.” “This is the most dangerous river valley in the United States, and we deal with floods on a regular basis,” he said. “When it rains, we get water. We had no reason to believe that this was going to be anything like what’s happened here. None whatsoever.” I know what he was trying to say, but it really does make him sound like an idiot.- 4th of July Texas Flood
Good article. If, it is in fact, true, it doesn't bode well for Camp Mystic. If Eastland got the 1am evacuation text, (and didn't begin to evacuate for an hour) he probably got the 1pm text from the previous day. I'm no @South Austin, but it doesn't look like the business will do well in civil suits. Clement, whose daughter is a counselor, said she is reluctant to criticize the staff’s decisions, saying, “I don’t know what could have been done differently, other than the idea of evacuating earlier, and just assuming the worst.” Pretty much the basis of the lawsuits, along with the floodplain stuff.- 4th of July Texas Flood
Seeing quite a number of GoFundMe's set up 'for the families of the Camp Mystic tragedy.' Uh huh. Some of them may be legit. Personally, I wouldn't send money to anyone via GoFraudme.- Texas Offseason 2025 - Archmania Is Upon Us
Wife is who kept me away, hahaha.- 4th of July Texas Flood
Thnx for posting. Maybe the craziest post I've ever seen. We are living in alternative universe. I'm ashamed for myself that I live in the same state as these people. - Texas Offseason 2025 - Archmania Is Upon Us
