  1. I respect your post. Agree about the drama. It's fun. I do hate when people criticize him for leaving Jackson State. Almost every college coach goes onto better opportunities when they can. And his former college and conference deserve lots of blame, for trashing him out of jealousy at press conferences, stealing his things from the locker room, (!!!!) and not honoring his contract.(allegedly) He has also been criticized for 'leaving the community.' I think the community left him. But how can you say he hasn't succeeded in two seasons? CU won ONE game two years ago and had the worst players in a major conference. Now, there are scenarios where they make the 12-team playoff! Just being in the conversation for that is insane.
  2. Attending a game on a chilly fall Saturday at West Point is an unmatched college football experience. It is stunning on so many levels.
  3. It doesn't matter what he does for the rest of the season. He has already exceeded all expectations, especially from the, "he's a fraud and will have a terrible season' crowd here, who have dominated this thread. Since the season wasn't a disaster, the 'move-the-goalpost crowd' was out in full force saying, " but they haven't played anyone good." Whatever. Now, most of his haters here (and they are haters, for sure) don't even bother posting anymore. As someone in marketing, I have been intrigued with all his disruptive marketing efforts. That is where he excels. As I said, he can be a total clown show, but not acknowledging what he has accomplished in two seasons is disingenuous. And he's a lot more fun than watching the usual retreads fail over and over. (I"m lookin' at you, Tom Herman.) But not Jimbo. Jimbo is gold and I miss him every day.
  4. Yep, would probably take him with him if he moves.
  5. Since he has flipped a top QB recruit from USC, perhaps he is planning on staying at Colorado. I do think he runs the program like a clown show, but his turnaround has been pretty remarkable. He was a winner at his last school and is looking like one now.
  6. Guys. I need your help. I really went out on a limb to convince @immamac to invest in our ai image generation division. So far, the investment costs have far exceeded the payoff and he is not happy. This could be my last chance to save my job at Surly. Please post images so I can keep my job until my pension kicks in.
  7. Has anyone else seen those insane, 'THE TOP RANKED 11-YEAR QB IN AMERICA' videos on social media?
  8. Say what you will, but there is probably no better business model in America than selling childhood dreams of future success to wealthy parents.
  9. We're up!!
  10. With the Aggy game less than two weeks away, it's time at Surly to get the 'ole ai computing machine repaired and running. We've programmed the Pascal language updates and are entering data on punchcards as quickly as we can, which is difficult with all the programmer cutbacks. (Thanks @immamac ) You should be able to add more glorious Aggy images shortly. Thanks for your patience!!!
  11. Didn't stop me from being the top Fleshlight salesman for Q3 in Central Texas, buddy! Hey, embrace ai, the Cybertruck and the new Hook 'Em. And speaking of the Cybertruck, we need everyone to step up with donations if we are going to hit our target!
  12. Haha, thanks for the personal shout-out. As a Westlake 'honk,' I love Sam and agree that he was a special, unique player, plus an incredible competitor and winner. And yes, Quinn's team and coaching is much better. However, I think Quinn's ceiling is higher and I think his top performances have been better. While there is much legitimate criticism of him here, he has made several throws that are simply unreal. His sideline toss to R. Johnson while scrambling vs Oklahoma two years ago comes to mind. So does his TD throw to Worthy vs Alabama, which is (amazingly) criticized here. Thanks again and congrats on your daughter's transition to college!
  13. Ewers is our best QB since Colt McCoy. First Texas QB since Colt to win a conference championship Threw five TDs two weeks ago against conference opponent Threw two TDs and 0 INTS on the road last week in double-digit road win against a conference opponent that has a sociopathic-level motivation to beat our program. His second TD was an amazing throw on the run. I've gotten to hang with him over the last three summers, and he is a genuinely nice and good person The wonderful thing about Surly Horns is that it is a forum for everyone to share their views, and I always enjoy all of your posts, even when I disagree with what's been written. Just wanted to remind us all that we are incredibly lucky to have this outstanding young man represent our program. And yes, I'm out of shape. Fuck you. I turned 65 last week.
  14. I wonder if they will repackage Jan 6 as a national holiday of some sort, like Hitler did with the shrine he had built to his Brownshirts who died during his Beer Hall putsch? Every year, on Jan 6, Trump can lay a wreath on a memorial to Ashley Babbit.
  15. Texas A&M in Daily Mail today! It's the 25th anniversary of Bonfire '99 and the criminal level of incompetence. Some of the best comments: They didn't actually pay out that much in lawsuits in the end. There were a lot of lawsuits but most got thrown out. The real reason it won't happen again is because they would have to pay a $2-3M premium for an insurance policy each year just for the bonfire. I read the story of one guy that was crushed. He lived for a few days, alert, knowing he was going to die. Apparently 37 were injured. The stack collapsed in the early morning hours as students were on top of the pile, 4 feet higher than authorized, according to my reading. 5000 logs stood up right over 60 feet tall....held by chains....what could go wrong I understand tradition, but this bon fire set up seemed inherently dangerous and I'm surprised they even allowed it all those years. What a waste of trees Twelve people die and they’re motivated to beat their rival? That sounds unbelievably crass. Moronic.
  16. Has Johntay dropped any new Tweets today?
  17. So true. Ego and jealousy can be a career killer.
  18. I just checked out his feed and I don't see the posts where he's trashing Texas. Did he pull the bad ones down? I do see recent posts where is he praising his former teammates, like Baron, Baxter and Weisner.
  19. Not sure how any of it is worth your anger. This so much. He is a young man whose is now operating outside structure. He may not have caring people around him giving him good advice and not have a good emotional foundation to make decisions that are in his best interest. I was friends w former Texas swim coach, Richard Quick. He said the best athletes often couldn't handle not being the star at the college level. We may be seeing this here. It must be scary to be a young man without any life plan outside of 'making it to the league,' and then suddenly having that removed from your life.
  20. Damn. Just looked. People talking some serious trash to him. The one below is pretty bad. Another wondered what would he catch first? A ball or a possession charge. Brutal. Another pointed out that his agent needs to reign him in. I agree with that one. I wish him the best. Not doing himself any favors.
