  1. I never mentioned the Republicans. This thread is the Democratic thread, hence I have focused my discussion on the topic.
  2. Back to repping players. Just posted this Jaylon Gilbeau image. Maybe Jaylon made a video.
  3. People unable to pay their rent, or unable to feed themselves, or a twenty-something who is drowning in college loans, and can't find a job due to the fact that people all over the world can apply to their jobs, didn't care that we had the most stable economy in the world. They just knew they were hurting. The markets were up. So were their expenses. Most Americans are pretty normal types who just want things to function. More of them voted for Biden in 2020. They could have and would have voted for the right Democrat candidate with the right message and ideas in 2024. I sure hope we find the best candidates moving forward.
  4. Johntay, who posted again today, really can’t help himself. He is his own worst enemy.
  5. I disagree. That was a very winnable election. Voters here and in Europe, fed up with inflation and rampant immigration, were demanding change. We ran the most incompetent, bizarre campaign in years. A president, unable to form coherent sentences in the debate, is finally forced to drop out. Biden could have announced he wasn't running again two years ago and given us a real chance to find the best candidate. Instead, we got the most dysfunctional campaign we've ever witnessed. Kamala didn't represent the change. We need to clean the slate and find the next Bill Clinton, the next Obama, etc, as many people on this thread are already pointing out.
  6. Disagree. You do everything the starter does without the hate and with luck, you can stretch it into a long career at a good salary without the CTE.
  7. I disagree. We won in 2020 by representing change. We lost in 2024 by defending the status quo when voters wanted change. And we set up ourselves for failure in 2016 and 2024 by allowing identify politics to lead over issues people actually care about.
  8. So you're happy with the results? I may not know much about politics, but I do know a lot about marketing. Voters wanted change and we offered up the same people, same ideas, etc. It's not that hard. And identity politics have polluted the Democratic platform to the point that they hand easy victories to the Republicans.
  9. Two things can be true. Trump is a facism-loving monster and the Democrats ran the most inept campaign since Walter Mondale. And if Democrats (of which I count myself one) want to even have a glimmer of a chance moving forward, they had better hold themselves accountable and get new leadership.
  10. Well said, haha, but unfortunately, we keep serving up softball pitches to the Republicans by allowing peripheral morons to have too much influence on the platform and promoting causes that normal people just don't care about.
  11. Backup quarterback. Best job in professional sports.
  12. We lost cause Americans wanted change and running the semi-coherent sitting president, then doing a last-minute bait-and-switch with the current VP sent a message louder than any words or speech that there would not be change. Brett Stevens wrote this editorial in the NY Times. I agree with all of it. "First, they should admit that their party mishandled Mr. Biden’s age. Leading Democrats insisted that he had mental acuity for a second term when most Americans believed otherwise. Party leaders even attempted to shout down anybody who raised concerns, before reversing course and pushing Mr. Biden out of the race. Already, many voters believe that Democrats refuse to admit uncomfortable truths on some subjects, including crime, illegal immigration, inflation and Covid lockdowns. Mr. Biden’s age became a glaring example. Acknowledging as much may be backward looking, but it would send an important signal. Second, Democrats should recognize that the party moved too far left on social issues after Barack Obama left office in 2017. The old video clips of Ms. Harris that the Trump campaign gleefully replayed last year — on decriminalizing the border and government-funded gender-transition surgery for prisoners — highlighted the problem. Yes, she tried to abandon these stances before the election, but she never spoke forthrightly to voters and acknowledged she had changed her position. Even today, the party remains too focused on personal identity and on Americans’ differences — by race, gender, sexuality and religion — rather than our shared values. Third, the party has to offer new ideas. When Democrats emerged from the wilderness in the past, they often did so with fresh ideas. They updated the proud Democratic tradition of improving life for all Americans. Bill Clinton remade the party in the early 1990s and spoke of “putting people first.” In 2008, Mr. Obama, Mrs. Clinton and John Edwards offered exciting plans to improve health care, reduce inequality and slow climate change. These candidates provided intellectual leadership." We need fresh leadership, lose the identity politics crap, and run people who can win.
  13. Okay, couple new Stories posts from _jaythegreat_: First, he's repping one of his friends, Ja'Kobi Lane, a WR at USC, with a video of the guy making a nice catch in practice. That's a solid post. In the next one, he's repping former Longhorn and current Seahawk, Byron Murphy, who seems to be promoting some swag from a brand called Amiri. Maybe they hung out during Johntay's brief stay in Seattle. I think these are good posts. To me, the message of promoting other people's success, says "I'm going to be a good teammate." Of course, he could be paid for cross-promoting Amiri. Dude still have 84K followers.
  14. "Compliment" (with an "i") means an expression of praise or admiration. "Complement" (with an "e") means to complete or enhance something else, or to work well together. Sorry.
  15. It was slightly surreal to watch my younger daughter and her crew all night on the Bama/Duke broadcast.
  16. Haha, younger daughter graduated from there. Here is a pic she took from her seats.
  17. Looked like the food was awesome
  18. My younger daughter is with her Duke crew at the game tonight in NJ. Go Blue Devils!
  19. Good luck tonight. Sounds fun!
  20. Funny, it seems pretty parallel. I didn't realize until now that Randy Moss was originally committed to Notre Dame, then lost his scholarship, then transferred to Florida State, kicked out for pot, then ended up at Marshall. Not sure Cook has the talent level to overcome his obstacles, but it will be interesting to watch. Another thought is perhaps Johntay Cook benefited from being on an incredible HS team that hid his playing limitations, like Tate Martell.
  21. Can someone please alert Immamac that recent site update keeps opening the Johntay Cook is Dismissed from the team thread on BurnOrange&White's computer and forcing him to post on it?
  22. When he was kicked off the University of Washington team last Dec, it was then too late to enroll for the Spring semester. Perhaps schools will wait 'til he clears his record. I agree that a D2 program has nothing to lose by offering him a role next Fall. It will be interesting if he can repair his reputation. Boy, he sure f'd around and found out.
  23. Johntay posted again today. Here he shows himself getting training. Looks like he is working out w/ HS kids. I think it's his way of saying 'I'm back to grinding' and which is a good message. No idea if anyone will touch him at this point but I'm rooting for him.
