  1. This story is so random. Someone passing himself off as an obscure musician. Why was he arrested? Tipped off by a rock writer, haha. Is it illegal? Why not just kick him off the stage? And did the imposter know the real Dick Dodd was in the audience? Did he show up because Dick Dodd was scheduled to perform, or was it a coincidence? So many questions.
  2. That's easily the most interesting brush with fame on this thread.
  3. Sounds like you fell for the, "I'm the brother of Clint Black" scam. Oldest trick in the book. My sister fell for it. She got taken for thousands.
  4. Totally. She was no Karen. I pulled a fast one in the middle of their big shoot and she didn’t understand what I was doing, and freaked the fuck out. I did have to promise to remove all Red Bull signage from the background of Arch signing my football and not share any images before a certain date, which I did. It was God’s work I was doing.
  5. Happy to say I've never tried it.
  6. Shoot. Great question. I forgot to ask. When I met Arch, the head client from Redbull freaked out when I told him the ball was for Surly Horns. She, of course, had never heard of Surly, and was horrified that I was having him endorse a football from an unknown website that could somehow cause harm to them by association. She was very not happy with me in general, but I got my signatures and photos, haha.
  7. Okay, my beautiful friends, I have some fun news that is...fun. I got to hang with Michael taaffe and Jordan Washington today as they participated in a summer football camp. And yes, the Sacred Surly football made an appearance. The camp was free, so kids who didn't normally get a chance to participate in training got great access. Michael was awesome. He is very excited about this season and he wants to go pro. The most interesting thing that he told me that the training and discipline that he learned as a very young player were the tools that helped him rise from a 0-star college walk-on to a starter at his dream school and he is fully committed to having success in the pros. He is very charismatic and the kids loved his energy, easy laughter and kindness. He demonstrated drills and he, Jordan and the other coaches were very engaging. It was fun talking about his magnificent INT vs Quinn in the state championship game, probably the best INT I've seen live. I wished him health and success in his ultimate goal. My beautiful wife made Michael sign a Westlake hat. Michael knows Surly Horns, haha. Jordan was another one. He's very easy-going and full of smiles. Dude is large and solid and very nimble. He is excited about his opportunities this season. He really connected with the kids, and was even tying kid's shoes. He is a gentleman and a good person. I am excited for him this year, and wished him success and health, of course. The glory of the Sacred Surly football continues to grow and it is getting close to the delivering it to @immamac . I would be really happy if he just keeps it, cause he deserves it for creating this amazing site. But if he wants to auction it off, so be it. I talk a lot of crap and post a lot of stupid stuff, but love this community and all of you. When I purchased the balls for Quinn to sign, I had no idea this project would grow and now look at the signatures: Quinn Ewers Arch Manning Michael taaffe Jordan Washington Quintrevion Wisner Jahdae effing Barron Isaiah Bond Gunnar Helm Cheers,
  8. More TexAgs gold: njohn87 5:17p AG As a loser and an underachiever personally and professionally, I don't feel it's my place to ask more of the teams I follow and their heralds than I ask of myself. njohn87 Worked basically 15 years at the same company, reliably hand in 8-4 level performance, got myself demoted from a management position that I'd handled competently but unspectacularly for several years by giving myself a scathing annual self-evaluation a couple of years ago, just normal stuff. Unprovoked, I put in writing and submitted to my manager that "I haven't maintained a culture of accountability".
  9. Triggered.
  10. Phew. Was so worried that the Aggies (whom I greatly respect) were going to make an emotional decision and move on from the man who was the REAL force behind their rise. Now that they've cleared out the dead wood in Schloss, they are perfectly positioned to take advantage of this season's preseason number-one ranking (which is when it counted most) and dominate for years to come.
  11. Okay, maybe I have a playlist or two, big deal. And maybe a couple of her Eras Tour outfits.
  12. The statue on the Texas A&M campus is considered hallowed ground and a key stop on the Battlefields of College Station tour.
  13. A couple of years ago, I got invited to cover Troy Aikman, who visited a Domain bar in North Austin to introduce his light beer, EIGHT. I enjoyed talking to him, but the reason he impressed me was because of this: The event was in a private, press area in the back of the bar. After a while, he left us and went over to the public part of the bar and started pouring his beer for fans who had come in hoping to meet him. He spent a good amount of time with them and was incredibly nice in general. Dude is 100% authentic.
  14. I have my next Longhorn players event coming up in a few days. Will share pics and tag @Derka
  15. That's a very good one. I had the same impression. Few more: Recording Kathleen Turner for Burger King. Bet you didn't know she was the BK voice for a couple of years. Yeah, it was a phone-patch, big deal. Sultriest voice ever. Shared a seat next to Patrick Dempsey on flight to LA and didn't know what movies he was in, haha. Guessed wrong, twice, lol. Al Pacino getting interviewed next to us at Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica. Our smokin' hot producer wanted to pay me $20 to go over and do my laughably horrible Michael Corleone impression. "Don't tell me about my business, Kate." Sanity prevailed and I didn't do it.
  16. I have had funny and weird celebrity encounters. I once took turns with my first daughter and a man and his son at a tire swing at the playground at 70th Street in Central Park on the East Side. We talked for around 30 minutes. He had a hat pulled low and sunglasses. After a while, he suggested our children share the swing at the same time. My daughter had stranger-danger and didn't want to, which hurt his feelings, cause his son was half-black and I think he thought that was the reason she said no. It wasn't. We had a very boring conversation, in which I blathered on about the upgrades to the playground. Finally, he and his son moved away. My wife walked over to me and said, "Hey, guess what? Robert Dinero is at the playground!" I looked over and of course, that was the man I had been hanging with, haha, without knowing who he was. I will say that I was really impressed with him, cause people would walk over to tell him how much they liked his movies and he would take their hand and look them in the eye, and tell them how much that meant to him. He was so cool.
  17. Franzia? @gofuckyourself I only drink Thunderbird.
  18. @Rimbo, I worked out next to Krist Novoselic at the Sunset Marquis in West Hollywood in '90's. Just saying.
  19. I like rock and roll and I don't particularly like Taylor Swift's music, but I respect what she does and Dave Grohl is giving embarrassing aging rock star vibes.
  20. Washed-up rocker embarrassing himself by taking non-factual shots at the world's biggest performer is lame.
