  1. Westlake and Reagan do share a common opponent: Round Rock Reagan beat em 35-28 Westlake won 35-3 Westlake doesn't pack the same offensive firepower that we have in past seasons, but the defense is as salty as ever. One aspect of Westlake that makes the team so successful is the attention to special teams. They always block punts, especially in the playoffs, with key punt blocks last season against San Benito and Brennan. However, Westlake begins and ends with the offensive and defensive lines. I expect a hard-fought game with Westlake's line being the difference in the 4th quarter. Westlake isn't strong enough to overcome North Shore or Duncanville, and we may even lose to a rejuvenated Lake Travis in the quarters. @Longhorn94
  2. The final score was 28-7. No one cares what almost or could have happened. That is beatdown on any level of a top-ten team and easily Duke's biggest win that I can remember. One of my daughters graduated from Duke and we went to the Virginia game on parents weekend three years ago. There were more people in the stands of our HS game than there was in the Duke stadium that day and Virginia is a big rival. Now you have sellouts, a beat-down of Clemson and a last-minute loss to Notre Dame. Elko is a good coach.
  3. Also beat Clemson bad and took Notre Dame to the last possession with a QB no other school wanted. He's hardly failing.
  4. The Bjork press conference is...interesting. Bjork mentioned a very contentious board meeting last Thursday. He implied that there may have been shouting. Following the meeting but prior to the MS game, he claims he informed Welsh that Fisher wasn't working out and that they needed a change. I'm calling bullshit on that one. I think powers that be delivered an ultimatum to Bjork. "You created this mess and if you don't fire him, you're gone, too." When I think of Bjork's version about him calling Welsh and telling him a change was needed, I think of Bernie Madoff's version of his downfall, where he claims he called his sons into his study and confessed to them that he had been perpetrating a fraud over the last 35 years. Yeah, they didn't know. Sure, that's what happened. Is Bjork next? He should be. I actually feel sorry for the people who have financially supported their football program. The financial mismanagement is borderline criminal . FROM SI: On Sunday, just before 9 a.m., Bjork and Welsh met with Fisher inside Kyle Field to inform him they were making an immediate change. Bjork said the meeting was “quick and cordial.” We so need video for this one. BONUS EDIT: There is a strong spin going on right now on Texags that this firing should scare the rest of the college football world cause it shows how Texas A&M doesn't tolerate mediocre results and will pay any price for excellence. I have no words for this.
  5. Watched the Bjork press conference. Pretty entertaining. How he still has a job is beyond me. Fired Jumbo today at 9am and also fired his Athletic Director Football. He can follow Jimbo to Lamar University or Slippery Rock. Then they told the team, but they already knew, of course. Looks like Jumbo package didn’t even get to say goodbye, lol. Oh, well. Those players never learned how to execute anyway. At least they can never take away the future championship trophy they gave Jumbo when he arrived. Even by the most Aggiest of standards, that is a profoundly dumb event that I still only half-believe actually happened. The timing is very interesting. Is it to save as many recruits for the early signing day? All coaches reach an age where the game passes them by. Jumbo was that guy, always thinking he just needed the right players to execute to make his offense a success, just like it was 10 years ago. Many Aggies noted that despite Petrino, the offense looked very similar to the one they’ve been running for years. That pretty much tells us that Jimbo and his ego wouldn’t allow any changes. I’m gonna miss him. He’s probably my favorite coach. Watching his legendary press conferences was beyond entertaining. His lack of awareness to how he came across in them was really fun, too. Bye, Jumbo.
  6. @Helobious should Westlake be worried about Reagan? I know you said they have a good QB and they're undefeated. Looks liek tye blown out most of the teams they've played. We rolled Brennan last year. Are they better?
  7. Perhaps Petrino undermined him
  8. Also, for some helpful career advice, it's not a good idea to get super-drunk the night before you head out to a big project with the new client and you're driving in a car with him and holding a barf bag in your lap.
  9. I think this is terrible news. I have developed quite a fondness for Jimbo. His press conferences following a loss are easily my favorite thing about college football.
  10. That happened to me for about a year after an unfortunate night in Las Vegas. Just the smell of Tequila would turn my stomach.
  11. Spent afternoons with him in 2022 and again in 2023. Plenty of pics. He's a terrific young man.
  12. I stopped after a mezcal margarita and a bottle of Negra Modelo. Thinking of going to straight mezcal. I recommend Vida by Del Maguey
  13. Those of us who have always supported Quinn are enjoying this game.
  14. Where are all the "I'm done w Quinn, we need Maalik," dudes, lol.
  15. I know they changed the name, but I laugh every time I see Lamar Redskins. It's karma's final revenge on Mirabeau Lamar, as he was one of Texas most virulent Indian haters, lol.
  16. LOL. Athletic factories is actually a pretty accurate phrase.
  17. Yes, thanks someone told me I was wrong last night at the Westlake game. Thnx for mentioning it.
  18. They just the beat the #4 ranked team in the state so i guess they are pretty good.
  19. Yes, they knew. The idiots even videoed themselves doing it. The victim actually missed the next game cause all his equipment was contaminated. It resulted in a pretty paltry suspension since their next game was against Dripping Springs and corch needed his best players. The victim's parents have been screaming bloody murder and now criminal charges are at least being investigated. The scandal might have even brought down the district's huge athletic bond last week.
  20. Meanwhile, here in the mean hills of West Austin, the talk is dominated by the Lake Travis football "Peanutgate" scandal. Two players coated all the belongings of another one with peanut stuff. He apparently has a severe allergy. The suspensions were pretty minimal and now criminal charges are being discussed. One of the perpetrators is a highly recruited player. The fury is mounting and it may bring down the coach. https://www.fox7austin.com/news/peanut-allergy-lake-travis-high-school-students-football-teammate-severe-allergies
  21. FIGHT* *But in way to that fosters a workplace and community that is inclusive, diverse, and free from harassment where the inherent worth and dignity of every individual is respected and feels safe in an environment where all members, employees, clients, community members and stakeholders feel valued and respected.
  22. NYC Public Library at 42nd Street. Highly underrated.
