  1. As I recall, the expression is, "the referee lives in Austin."
  2. There’s a very good rule in life that Auburn should observe. If you choose to present yourself to the world in a very silly-looking fashion, you had better be really, really good at something or prepare to accept a lot of derision.
  3. Thanks, @immamac and everyone else who helped. It was so amazing! So many nice people, terrific San Antonio barbecue and plenty of alcohol. I really enjoyed it!
  4. What's interesting about the 2016 game is that Kansas also played a pretty horrible game, as well. The game was a total shit-show in front of half-empty stadium.
  5. One of my friend's son plays for USC. She's going to the game so I'll report her experiences from the mean streets of Boulder.
  6. Was watching Brennan HS's broadcast of last year's Westlake vs Brennan playoff game last night. @Helobious, you might enjoy this. We traditionally face a lot of home cooking each year in playoff games in San Antonio, but apparently, Brennan offense was given 51 plays to get 10 yards! That rarely happens: Then, in the 4th quarter, we faced an almost insurmountable 3rd down and 151 yards needed for a 1st down! Later, the broadcast crew gave up trying to keep up with the score and decided 41 points was enough for us and didn't add our last two TD's to the point total, haha.
  7. Huge congratulations to @immamac on the brand-new Surly Horns offices!!! You did an amazing job with the decor! They are a must-see on West 6th Street!
  8. Oh, crap. Sounds like your browser may be accidentally taking you away from the many other football threads and bringing you to the Deion Sanders "Coach Prime" is now at Colorado thread. If you are on Google Chrome, go to the History tab and Clear your browsing history and cookies. If the problem persists, go ahead and Clear Cached images and files. If the problem still persists, bring your computer to Surly IT on floor 3 for repair and we will issue you a Surly loaner. Unfortunately, @immamac just spent a fortune on tailgating food & beverages, so all we have left are some shitty 2011 Dell Netbooks.
  9. This CNN editorial writer seems to disagree with you. Excerpts below: "After his team’s first victory earlier this month, University of Colorado football coach Deion Sanders said something remarkable. He talked bluntly about racism and football in a way that few Black coaches at an elite level are willing to do. “We’re doing things that have never been done, and that makes people uncomfortable,” Sanders said. “When you see a confident Black man sitting up here talking his talk, walking his walk, coaching 75% African Americans in the locker room, that’s kind of threatening. Oh, they don’t like that.” We know what Sanders’ critics say. He’s got a big mouth. He plays the race card when he should just coach football. His “hype train is about to derail.” His success cannot be separated from the political and cultural climate in Black America. Sanders may be an athlete, but he’s taking on some of the same foes many Black Americans face in their daily lives today. Sanders represent one of those rare moments of contemporary racial progress. He has entered one of the Whitest and most conservative institutions in America — college football — and excelled. While many college football players are Black, most of the top teams are coached by White men, and many of the best teams are in red states like Alabama, Georgia and Louisiana. It’s not unusual to see Black and brown players competing on stadium turf surrounded by cheering White spectators.
