  1. Yep, the guy who in the 10th inning gave up back to back jacks in Game 2 of the World Series that went our way. The trade has benefitted in many ways...
  2. Lame, you're missing the Romanee-St Vivant and Grands Echezeaux.....
  3. He's right. Got my Overseas Dual Time last year and it gets 90% of the wear while the rest sits in a drawer....
  4. If you are doing the Rolex, get the Daytona. I think those two tones are much better than the Sub. I bought one for my wife last year and it's a great looking watch. Haven't been able to get a wear out of it yet though!
  5. Don’t want to offend but my take is don’t sell Saigon short on one day. You won’t do it justice (nor any place in the world with just one day). If you’re going thru Saigon, spend at least 3 days there. Otherwise just use it as a hub to fly in or out of. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. People always have to be offended by something these days. Bunch of cocksuckers.
  7. Here’s Lulu, about 3 days after the splenectomy. She was high as a kite for a few days, but is coming out of it nicely and on the mend. Should get the lab results early next week - expecting it to be malignant but hoping for the best. Either way, we are getting more time with her, which wasn’t looking possible at times over the weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Her name is Lulu. If all goes well overnight, we will get her back tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Here’s a few pics of her. The first one was about 4 hours before she began to crater. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Got lucky with our 9+ year old bulldog over the weekend. She’s always been in good health and we got her in London, where they do breed a slightly healthier standard than here. Anyways, my wife and I had been in Big Bend/Santa Fe for 11 days so she was staying with my folks. They have a bit of space and she loves to go up there and run around, chase balls, sun bathe. We brought her home Saturday afternoon and she was fine all day. Took her out to some of her favorite bars in Rice Village and all was still normal. About 11pm she started shivering, then lost control of some bodily functions and ultimately her gums turned completely white. At that point we rushed her off to the emergency vet. A quick ultrasound later found a cantaloupe size mass attached to the spleen that had ruptured and some concerns about her heart. Lots of stuff happened over the coming hours thru Sunday afternoon but ultimately gave the OK to cut on her this morning. All went great and they got the spleen and mass out much better than expected. Hopefully on the road to recovery and we will know in about a week if it’s malignant or not. My wife and I are well aware of all the challenges and issues with the bulldog breed. We’ve always been willing to accept that risk (and cost) if necessary. But what we weren’t prepared for was the shock of maybe losing her to a health issue in a span of about 24 hours. She may not have a lot of time left, but hopefully after a recovery from surgery we can wind it down on our own terms over the coming months or (god willing with no cancer) a longer time frame.
  11. And overall the pitching has been pretty solid. Get the bats going and we will be fine. Need to take both of the next two series at home. If we lose those, I will start to worry just a bit.
  12. We ate at the bar at both places, but Del Posto is certainly a bit more formal, in both the the look of the restaurant and service. Both have fantastic and deep heavy Italian wine lists. We did a 2009 Biondi Santi and Babbo and a 2007 Cerbaiona at Del Posto. I thought the pasta at Del Posto was slightly better - we had a spaghetti with sea urchin and their ragu.
  13. I haven't seen it yet but did live in the UK from 2005-2011 so saw plenty of the coverage on this over the years. It was truly a tragic story, and while the parents were certainly careless to not to pay the 50 quid it would have cost for a sitter, they also received such a negative (and unfair) backlash from many who presumed they were the guilty party. I have heard that the parents and the other Tapas Seven declined to participate and so the documentary complete ignores their view of things (much of which is public).
  14. Just a follow up on this after getting back on Monday night. Had a great trip and reminded me of why I love the city so much. One of the coolest things we did was head up to Arthur Ave in the Bronx for a food tour with https://arthuravenuefoodtours.com/, which I would highly recommend. We sampled more than enough pizza, bread, cannoli, oysters, salumi, cheese, etc and the couple that runs it do a fantastic job. Christian was a former somm at some of the Bastianich restaurants. Now on to the dining: - had a pre-theatre dinner at the bar at Gabriel Kreuther, which I thought was very good. The restaurant is French/Alsatian and we had the mushroom tartes flambee, a sausage with sauerkraut and the pork schnitzel. All very well done and an enjoyable meal, if a bit pricey for what it was. - Eleven Madison was a huge disappointment, and a complete waste. Most overrated restaurant I have ever been to. I found the food to be average and while some dishes hit (seared foie gras with brussel sprouts, cheese, mushrooms, etc.) many of them flat out missed. The main course was a piece of veal that was so tough that I stopped after a couple of bites, and it had a very sour sauce. On the bright side, the wine pairing was nice and included some vino with a bit of age on it like the 2004 Pegau Chateauneuf du Pape. For some context, I lived in the UK for about 8 years and have travelled Europe extensively so have dined at many Michelin starred restaurants. One thing I noticed with EMP is how large the restaurant is compared to other three star establishments. Perhaps that impacts the kitchen when having to handle that much food going out. - Had the Omakase at Shuko, which was the highlight of the trip. Run by a couple of guys that worked at Masa, it is a very cool place that mainly seats about 20 at the bar and only does Omakase with R&B/hip hop playing while you eat. The fish was fantastic and we couldn't have asked for a better meal. - Also had lunch at both Babbo and Del Posto, two NYC institutions that while a bit dated, still delivered well. Never made the Carbone lunch do to an 11:45am reservation and a brutal hangover.
  15. We flew Emirates - business on the way over and First on the way back from Bali. Made the trip much much easier. And while I drink a bit on the flights, I’ve cut my consumption down a lot over the years while flying. Much different than my Thailand flight a few years earlier where I think I got drunk twice on the way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Joe Montana did the same thing as Phil. Sounds like Singer had thousands of clients, many of which are rich and famous. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. You guys are brutal but hilarious. I kindly had to just ignore bill’s comment but appreciated the effort. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2019/03/13/massachusetts-resident-accused-admissions-scandal/KhNLVsn8PtUk1kY6tBil4H/story.html Ha, I know this guy. He’s such an arrogant twat and doesn’t really surprise me.
  19. Popped into to Texadelphia on Westheimer today for the first time in months. WTF happened to the queso? It’s now a bright orange gooey mess. Makes me wonder if they are struggling and it’s a way to cut costs.
  20. Owned and run by the Da Marco group so yeah, it delivers
  21. Sorrento is worth a look if you haven’t tried. I usually have them make me a Veal Parm, off the menu, that is unbelievable. They take a big veal chop, butterfly and flatten it then fry it up. Easily the best in town
  22. Or Marylebone/Notting Hill. Paddington is right between these neighborhoods, which are both fantastic, although I do prefer Marylebone.
  23. Haven't been there in about 4 or 5 years, and the bloody mary bar was part of the Sunday brunch back then. Sounds like it's a regular thing.
