  1. Always a fan of d’Aubusson in the 6th https://www.hoteldaubusson.com
  2. Thinking I’ll roast a bone in lamb shoulder.
  3. Now that was a series finale. Won’t spoil anything but brilliantly done.
  4. Plaq Lock actually delivered. Went yesterday for the jazz brunch and had the gumbo. Wife had the eggs sardou. Much better than I expected, great cocktails, and a cool place overall. Will definitely do it again. The lack of good pubs in Islington is a bit disappointing but it’s still a good day out.
  5. It’s annoying but not a big deal for one race. I’ll take the Saturday qualifying and Sunday race in the middle of my afternoon all day every day.
  6. Alright, here are some thoughts on Islington. The area is a bit more limited for me as I don't get over that way very often. Pasha - excellent Turkish (as noted above); also close to the Kings Head pub, which is great. They do a pub theatre in the back that can be boozy fun at times Trullo - one of the best Italians in London 12:51 - does a great tasting menu at a reasonable price. Really solid place Ottolenghi - North African, with some Middle East influence. There are a few around London, with varying menus but the Islington one is good. Sambol Shiak - good, quick cheap eats for laksa Pig and Butcher - I echo what was said above. One of the best gastropubs in the area, along with Drapers Arms which has a nice beer garden on a sunny day Smokehouse - have not tried but was considering it initially for this weekend. Then I saw the limited menu with 4 mains - a veg, a pasta, fish and pork loin. Could be good but too many other options in the area for my liking
  7. All the little Caribbean countries are challenging
  8. Gotcha. Will put something together tomorrow. We’re going to meet some friends over there on Saturday and having lunch at Plaquemine Lock before. I’m often intrigued but usually disappointed when I try the Cajun/southern/Mexican/bbq scene here. This place supposedly rates well. https://plaqlock.com
  9. And if you want something more modern European Clipstone (fitzrovia) Frenchie (covent garden) The Portland (fitzrovia) Cora Pearl (covent garden) Blandford Comptoir (Marylebone) Louie (soho) run by a former NOLA Brennan’s chef Wolseley/Delaunay/Fischer’s - all are part of the Corbin & King group and more brasserie style and do great food and excellent breakfast.
  10. Can give you tons of recs if you tell me more about what type of food you’re looking for. Here’s a start, I think the furthest west for these is Notting Hill. Lots of stuff to the east and north in Shoreditch and Islington but haven’t included below. I would start booking tables now. Stuff fills up quickly. High End/Michelin Star Core by Clare Smyth The Ledbury Frog by Adam Handling Sunday Roast The Blacklock The Guinea Grill Hawksmoor Indian Gymkhana Trishna Jamavar Dishoom Roti Chai Italian Locanda Locatelli Osteria Romano Quintessentially British St. John Scott’s (seafood) J Sheekey (seafood) Rules
  11. First week of June will be very lively here, possibly more busy than you want. It’s the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee so we have a four day weekend with 2 and 3 June as bank holidays.
  12. Have heard mixed comments on my trips to Wyoming. Some people have told me the bears can be pretty adept at turning their heads to avoid it. I’ve always carried but never encountered one on foot.
  13. Looking forward to this tomorrow and to hear his story. Yurii was on a visit to London just before things kicked off and has now stayed to raise money, mainly for WCK.
  14. Did Guy Savoy and it was just bad. Best part was the wine, 89 Haut Briton. Been to His signature restaurant in Paris many times, which is amazing, but this replica failed miserably. Le Cirque and Robuchon deliver.
  15. Vegas during the first week of the tourney? I don’t understand your problem.
  16. That really sucks, sorry to hear that. I’ve never dealt with a dog on chemo but know a few that have, including my FIL. He regretted it because although it extended the life of his dog a few months, the quality of that life was not improved on chemo. Not saying what you are doing is wrong, just something to be aware of. Only you know what will work best for Rini.
  17. Decided to cancel Budapest and do Marrakech instead. While not overly concerned about the trip, we felt it’s something that we can push back to later in the year. And, I’ve been there 3 or 4 times before but never to Marrakech. C’est la vie.
  18. Let us know how it comes out and upload some pics. Tried it about a year ago and didn’t quite come out like I hoped so need to try it a second time.
  19. There is no way the conventional Russian military is being used up in this war. There are plenty of Russian troops, tanks, artillery and more importantly aircraft available to move on to the next target. Their ability to successfully deploy their military is certainly in doubt, but the numbers are clearly there.
  20. Easy for you to say when it’s not your country under attack and your brothers and sisters being slaughtered.
  21. That's what I said when I moved overseas. Just 2 years then come back. It changed everything, and in the end, didn't really want to go back.
