  1. Meh. It's a pretty big stretch to take what is being reported and turn it into a big deal.
  2. Sometimes the tournament bling is a lot. My son's team won an 11U tournament put on by Perfect Game. They handed us rings, medals, a banner, a huge trophy, an MVP plaque, and a MVPitcher plaque. I don't know what 2nd place received. I suppose if an organization has a building where it could make a trophy room that would be good, but we're just some dads who don't want to take home any of that stuff!
  3. Awesome. My son's 11U team won a tournament in Houston yesterday. A lot of fun.
  4. For most of the 2010s I played 5-6 rounds of golf per year. I would shoot between 80-95. I have played 1 round of golf in 2020. On 9/24 I played the Tournament Course at Golf Club of Houston and scored an 89. Front 9: 51 Back 9: 38
  5. I'm loving this. ALCS is going to be tough. Let's do it.
  6. No blood last night, but a great time on the road and in the woods with my son.
  7. This afternoon I'm taking my son (10 yrs old) out on his first archery hunt. I guess it's my first archery hunt also. I did not hunt much growing up and have only gun hunted as an adult. We've got a ground blind brushed in near the intersection of 2 game trails at a corner of our largest food plot. We had a game camera malfunction near it, so I'm not certain what we will see, if anything. I'm amped. I hope something walks out and that he can get a shot. I wonder how much he's learning in school today...
  8. Should we sweep or take it in 4?
  9. I'll suggest this earlier tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. SUGGESTION: The Astros should score more runs.
  11. That's what I am wondering about. I haven't kept up with the details, but if the shooting cops didn't falsely obtain the warrant, then I don't know why a murder charge would be considered reasonable. But Lebron thinks...
  12. I don't have any experience beyond the first few weeks of 11U fall ball. I think your other post is on target. Majors teams simply have a lot of talent and fewer weak spots. Our team doesn't hold tryouts, we haven't cut anyone since the transition from 8U-->9U (some of you may remember, my son was on the chopping block, but we stuck it out), so we're attempting to develop our 11 and play against teams that are often cutting a couple and recruiting a proven talent. I like our model. I don't see much benefit from being cutthroat and hyper-competitive before age 13. We hold our own and win a lot, but we also run into some Majors teams that are buzzsaws. haha
  13. It likely depends on the age. It's certainly not the case for us as we just moved into 11U ball. Our squad has played 4 seasons together. We were 7AA, 8AA, 9AAA, 10AAA. We're starting 11U as AAA but we'd prefer to bump to majors soon and test ourselves there. We'll see. Our defense is up to the task. Half of our bats are. Most of our pitchers likely aren't. It will be fun to see the boys get challenged soon. Fall ball is sporadic. Hard to tell much. We barely practice and then show up to play against some teams that are practicing 3x/week.
  14. I love Framber. I miss our bats.
  15. Has any school that has been open in-person for over a month had an outbreak? I haven't kept up with the news nationwide.
  16. Skipped the dove hunt this weekend and put in a lot of tractor work for deer food plots. Mowed, disced, drug, planted, drug again. Hopefully, Mr. Big Buck and his harem will enjoy the dining experience close enough to my son's bow blind. (Cat Spring, TX)
  17. Our school (PK3 thru 12) has been open with in-person instruction for 3 weeks now. There was a lab-confirmed case reported to us on 8/24 in the PK3 program. Not sure if student or teacher, but that person was sent home and the rest of the school kept rolling. We're a ways past that now and concluding another week with no lab-confirmed COVID cases. The protocols, specifically the masks, suck but the kids adapted quickly. In person schooling isn't killing anyone. Whodathunk?
  18. His right knee flexed funny at the end of the slide.
  19. CC getting the day off - SuperJack at SS - with Greinke on the bump.
  20. Very good and neighborly. This is how it should be. My neighbor, on the other hand, gets pissed if I park near his lot for a few minutes while I shuffle cars in the driveway/garage.
  21. It sounds like I probably need to trim a few more branches and get a block. We bought scent control spray and detergent and will be using those. Thank you. That's 2 votes for clearing the shooting lanes a bit more. I figured I could always go trim more if I didn't get enough on the first pass. He can hold 30 seconds right now and still make a good shot. Thankfully, someone gave us some advice on hold times a few weeks ago. He's done some short/quick holds to be ready to anchor and aim quickly if the deer only presents a good shot for a few seconds. And longer holds for if he needs to stay at full draw while waiting on the shot. It'll be his first time, but he's been shooting his bow for 2.5 years now and is starting to put nice little groups together at 10 yards. It's not as good at 20, but we likely won't be shooting if the target is past 15. Another vote for some minerals or something!
  22. Excellent info. Thanks! What about putting any sort of corn or mineral/attractant on the ground? It's been suggested to us to put some where we want the game to stop, right in a shooting lane.
