This is exactly the problem. It wasn't all about Briles. It was about Baylor and the screwed-up culture they had, and have. Because of his amorality, Briles merely took advantage of that culture.
It wasn't only football players that were raping. That's why BU didn't get any NCAA sanctions. There weren't any privileges or considerations given to football players that weren't also extended to other students. Think about that. It's sick. If a woman complained, she was silenced and shunned, regardless of whether it was a football player or Joe Fratboy.
As a whole, a girl is probably safer at Baylor than at Big State U. But when the worst happens, she's in the worst possible place. They will do anything to preserve their mythical veneer of virginal girls and virtuous boys. The pure, undefiled Baylor must evict the Jezebel from its midst. She will be slutshamed, silenced, shunned.
Sure, they got rid of Briles, McCaw, baby Briles, Lebby, Kaz (the worst actors), and Starr. But the culture remains, and it's repugnant.
And TCU hired, and continues to pay, baby Briles and Kaz. Disgusting.
