Look at all the progress the US has made on corona in the past 5 months since it started here

what makes you think we can play any sports in, say, less than 3 months?

If you’re gonna fret about anything, we should be talking more about how many schools are not going to have football (and other sports) permanently when this is over.

Just speculation, but if something drastic doesnt change by Thanksgiving, id guess 25-35% of current FBS schools wont have a team from next season on

    This should go well . . .

So it appears that the first post above was satire, that Maneesh is virulently ant-mask, and he’s pointing out the absurdity of it. That thread went about as expected.  It also appears that he’s continued to troll the maskers with anti-mask sentiment. The anti-maskers appear to have tried to dox him and get him banned. He is undeterred. Fun times in Cinco Ranch.

I used to be a speed demon in HD and the thing that made me stop and chill was a simple lesson in my HS physics class.

the question started with “how fast above the speed limit would you have to drive to Austin to save 10 min” then went on about centrifugal forces an Co of friction etc. The fist part of the answer answer was 130mph- the entire way.

just that fact blew my mind since it basically meant speeding of any kind was a waste of time. It would be much easier to just leave 10min earlier.

You lost me at "centrifugal forces and co of friction."  See, that's the part that I tune out.

  4. Just found this thread.  Great to see this discussion.

For the last couple of years, I've been marathon focused.  Ran 6 from Dec. '18 through May '19, when my body had enough, and announced so through a stress fracture in left tibia.  Took two months off, was able to ease back in.   Ran a decent (for me) Houston marathon in January, and was set to try to BQ at Shamrock marathon in Va Beach in March, which was cancelled.  Because I took a separation package from work at the end of February, and absolutely no one is hiring currently, I've had the time to keep the training up through the summer.

The last few weeks, I've backed off the mileage a little bit, and have decided to concentrate on speed a little--thinking I'll try a post-40 PR 10k in a month or two, whenever the races open back up.  The problem now, of course is HEAT.  In Texas this time of year, if you don't start your run before 6 am, you're sunk.  When that sun comes out, it sucks out the will to live.  I've been able to supplement some with a small backdoor lap pool (50'/17M).  That's been helpful to flush the lactic acid and work on breathing regularity.

@drt, I'm glad you're happy with the vivoactive.  I've gone through a number of different Garmin GPS training watches, and last year transitioned from a Fenix 3HR to a Forerunner 945.  This is the best Garmin I've had, and both for training, and for physiological feedback (sleep metrics, HRV, etc.), it's head and shoulders over anything else out there.  It blows Apple Watch out of the water on physiological feedback stuff.  My son is using a similar Garmin for golf , and that stuff looks really, really cool.  Interesting to see if you like the golf functionality.

@UrbanAchiever, you're an animal.  I haven't run <6:00 at any length for around 30 years.  Although some of my speedwork intervals are at that pace, there is no way I could stretch it even to a 5k.  Even more impressive that you're able to do that in this heat.

  5. In my old job I’d travel to London regularly. I would stay in a hotel near my office by Paddington, and take my early morning runs around Hyde Park. Almost every time, I’d see a fox or two in the neighborhoods between Paddington and the park. Urban foxes. Pretty remarkable creatures.
We need some of those here in my suburban neighborhood to keep the critters down. I can’t keep up with the rabbits with my pellet gun. They breed like rabbits.

Joe must be one pissed off mf’er to demand his name be removed all the way from the grave.   Nice spin job by the admin though.

Guide from YouTube comments:  This is from May of 1992.  The deposition was taken in St Louis.   The deponent is "Jack Garrett" who was at one time a research chemist at Monsanto's Texas City facility in the 1950's.   Monsanto (represented by Ed Carstarphen on the left), was being sued by some residents of Houston (represented by Joe "Hairpiece" Jamail on the right with the wagging finger) who alleged that Monsanto had harmed them by exposing them to dangerous chemicals.  This lawsuit may have been one regarding the Brio Superfund site.  "Tucker" was an attorney representing Ayrshire.  There is an Ayrshire a real estate development company in Houston, so I can only assume it's the same company, though I'm not sure of their role in this case.  It's probably got something to do with property values allegedly impacted by Monsanto.

Hozzle rockets don’t take no prisoners.

A golfer gets a hitch in his swing where the first point of contact with the ball is the hozzle instead of the club face.  The hozzle is the socket transition point where the club head attaches to the club shaft.

The results are the absolute worst shot in golf where the ball skitters off away from the golfer.  The big issue is the golfer gets “the shank” in his head and doesn’t trust his swing anymore and that causes his swing to get worse and cause even more shanks.

The golfer has “the shanks” and if he can’t overcome them will self-banish himself from the game and develop some sort of substance abuse problem.

Or change his name, move to a remote coastal village in South America and work on a fishing boat.

Were you spying on me at the range today?  Creepo stalker.

I'm pleased by how many people in my part of Texas are not wearing a mask, how many businesses are not enforcing it, and how many cops don't give a shit.   It's not nearly enough, but it's a good start.

So you hate college football, and believe in killing the old, weak, and sick to make room for the strong. Got it.

Saltlife stickers in Dallas, Tennessee, and my absolute favorite, Chicago. Yeah, saw one on a Subaru in Chicago.

Don't fucking bring up the Great Lakes, whose salinity is very, very low.

Also, agreed, I don't give a fuck what political team you're and your co-exist sticker??? How about you quick posting to social media while driving so we can both CONTINUE to exist and not die from you killing me.

For the longest time, Mrs. NNM thought those stickers said “Shit Life” because of the goofy font. She wondered why people put them on their vehicles. It’s better if you read it that way.

ANY corporate sticker on cars is ridiculous to me. The first thing I do when I bring a new-to-me vehicle home is strip off all of the dealer badges. Why in the world would I give free advertising to someone I just paid tens of thousands of dollars?

What's amusing is most of them are full sized trucks without any form of winch and the back window is covered in Monster Energy and Browning or some other million dollar Corp. Add to that they live in the city and usually their trucks are spotless and not a single scratch can be found anywhere on the vehicle.

There are off roaders, and the thread here has some legit folks. However, 99% of the ones you see in Houston,  Austin or Dallas etc hardly see dirt. You'll never see a vehicle like that at a place like Wind Rock nor Hidden Falls, because largely, they are fucking worthless off road.

My kids all know that when we come upon one of those trucks, I shake my head and say, “poor guy. Don’t you feel bad for him?  He has to through life with a little bitty penis, and everyone knows it. Must be really difficult.”
