  1. Kicking off the weekend, breffiss.
  2. I fucking hate mosquitoes.
  3. She had it half right. Put it out on the street with a sign saying $10 and it'll make itself disappear quickly.
  4. But the shape of Oklahoma doesn't bother you?
  5. Do you fart in it?
  6. Wait long enough and they're all brown.
  7. Shouldn't matter at all since it's an electronically fan controlled "oven." Would make a small difference if you were in a manual fired smoker.
  8. What? We love United!
  9. No. They do a shitton of stuff that is not in the name.
  10. Exactly. And sonar isn't 100%, they knew something imploded in the area, but it could have been an external tank or some unrelated piece of stray scrap. They made the right decision to continue search until definitive confirmation. Plus this is/was a great training opp for a lot of the search team.
  11. This. Wait until you have a bird, any bird (that you'd actually take) in hand, and then contact your first choice and be open with them.
  12. Titanic also had engineering and manufacturing error as contributing factors (compartment design, metallurgy used). Lot of links in that fault chain as well. Not disagreeing with your second statement at all, but ultimately human hubris killed wealthy people in both cases. Did you read the article? They notified Coast Guard, who opted to proceed with search.
  13. Immediately after watching, I told a friend the movie could have been only those 5min of montage and I would have left feeling like it was the best movie I'd ever seen.
  14. Cheese Foundation
  15. You aren't wrong, look at his other posts, it's clearly an AI bot.
  16. Yes it likely had some internal damage from the wreck. And yes 8k is ridiculous for a Civic trans. Those cars are a dime a dozen, get a scrap pull with a warranty and pay a shop to swap it in, probably 10hrs labor. Should be 3-4k total out of pocket.
  17. For music, if he wants neutral performance, I haven't been able to beat the Etymotic ER-4 family for probably 15yrs, own 4 pairs. But they're pure headphones, no mic, though you can get an aftermarket mic cable. Ety does make other lower end earbuds that have mic, and I use a pair of them for travel phone calls. Now if you want comfort, I've posted in a couple other threads about custom earmolds - if you are doing long wear, you really should get custom earmolds for whatever earbud you choose. Added bonus of greatly improving the sound, specifically the bass performance and noise isolation, of any earbud.

    Arrival

This, the story is fantastic. Short but strong.
  19. I probably posted this somewhere in here already, but Discount tries really hard to price match anyone, including internet prices and sometimes including rebates. It never hurts to take your best price in there and ask. Also re: the comment above about scheduling rotation at Costco, Discount rotates anyone's tires free, no matter if you bought from them or not. I've gotten some truly shitty service from Costco tire center, no serious damage but wheels came back just spooged all over with lube, dirty car, they just dgaf.
  20. Ha, Audi and Porsche laugh at you. Try 20k or more.
  21. We had a panel interview a few years back, finish up with the candidate, I ask the group "what do you think?" Everyone looks at each other, then the entire room bursts out laughing. It was amazing.
  22. This is where it died. The "formula" was really that their movies had so many layers of story, their characters had complex development, every age group/audience sector got something meaningful out of every movie. Lasseter was an absolute master there. Their newer stuff has lost the layers and lost the magic in doing so. Incredibles was a great example, look at the dad's character from movie 1 to movie 2. The character went from a complex, internally torn, emotional and growing human into a stereotype caricature with a single focus. Lightyear was another. Buzz was one supporting character in Toy Story, yet had more personality and more character development in Toy Story than in Lightyear (an entire movie about him!), where he also became a stereotype caricature with a single focus. Lasseter made his characters human. Pixar since then has made its characters stereotypes.
  23. Life is actually stranger than art down there:
