Yep. She helps put on these classes. Both awesome people. Love the free tastings at pogos. Sadly they are canceling those for a while because of fear of c-19 Sent from my SM-G988U1 using Tapatalk

I'm far from a Cali wine expert but I got lucky to get some 2014 Corison Cab Sauv St. Helena when it was one of the last offers on Wine.woot, and that is one of my favorite wines of all time. It will be the first wine club I sign up for outside of Texas some day. I guess technically that's not true.. I used to be in the Iron Horse club for a year but wasn't drinking the bubble as fast as I was getting it.

Just watched it too.. was impressed how smooth it was.. you could tell it was different but not in a big way. I think I want to watch it again to key in on a few things in more detail Anyways.. after the oscars, finally watched The Two Popes.. I guess I was oblivious to all this happening in real life so found it extremely interesting. Hopkins always kills any of his roles.

What an AMAZING wine class last night with Ryan Tedder of Pogo, Here is what we drank - I haven't had more than 1 or 2 of these before so learned soooo much about the styles of the different Bordeaux regions. The St. Estephe region was likely my favorite.. though an aged Pauilliac was an adventure to taste. I will say I wasn't aware of how much I do like right bank likely because I've never tasted any of this quality as I will always pick Left bank Cab Sauv forward over Merlot. But those aged Pomerol and Saint Emilon were something of beauty. My favorite rye right now is one I found at Pogo's in dallas. guess it's an "exclusive" Whistlepig - 12 Year Old Bespoke Blend - POGO'S Barrel https://www.pogoswine.com/spirits/Whistlepig-12-Year-Old-Bespoke-Blend-POGO-S-Barrel-w6679972ea

Interesting... I didn't think Dan had the greatest relationship with Tim when they were together at State. I remember when Tim was out giving offers to 9th graders who turned out to be nobodys.
-
You missed my post explaining he won't be here till the summer...
-
Yep super excited. Now if we can go get a transfer WR we will be in great shape. Having a QB like that come in can get Mike's offense going a lot faster. Hate he won't be here till the summer.. but it is what it is. Leech is already reaching deep into Texas, an area we haven't usually pulled many from. And gotta say, I don't know the details of Jason Washington with y'all but seems he is a heck of a recruiter. That was our last position to fill.
-
Alright some have asked my opinion or where I'm at since this broke.. well I was coming around on the idea. Yep.. y'all can call me out.. I was all in on Napier who strung us along until we moved along... and man what a splash it has been. I've never been a fan of Air raid offenses but it's sure as hell going to be entertaining to watch likely.. and break all our offense records which Mullen and Dak set a few years back. Do I love the defensive hire? Mixed...2 years at SD State under Rocky Long.. and that's it as a DC. I do love that we went out and got our 2nd place choice (1st was Newberry at Navy) even though he just took the Syracuse job. We have down a similar style with Joe Lee Dunn during the late 90's when our D was so good (minus against ricky williams). Now as far as QB's on roster - shrader has trimmed the beard and should be ready for spring practice from his eye and foot issues. Can he sling the ball? Some but far from where he could be with another year of coaching under him. So what do we instead? As mentioned.. we are in the running for 2 QB's in the transfer portal. Costello from Stanford had a visit this past weekend and is at home. Leach will have home visit with him on Thur. Evidently he did go and visit Washington today.. so we will see. That's by far the best option. a proven starter. Next, Chase Brice from Clemson.. who will have 2 years to pay left. May or may not be still visiting. I can't wait till spring ball.. Haven't made the long trip for a Super Bulldog Weekend in 5-6 years. Might have to do that this year.

Balcones did a tasting at Pogo's right before Christmas and the Single Malt was my favorite by far. So I'm imaging this would be something I would love to try. Started back on keto yesterday so no beer for 2 months... so bring on the red wine, bourbon, scotch, and whiskey.
-
Just hell no on the pirate. Seems we are meeting with Napier again (this afternoon)... He was waiting on the bowl game... then he was waiting to hear what baylor would say.. So maybe we still get our #1 choice. If not, looks to be Sark but that's not a certain yet.
-
Correct... now everyone rightfully bash our soft OOC opponents..

You can pick turn of the century. I can pick since Dan Mullen turned us around. selective stats are selective I don't need to look it up.. it's horrible.... can we go back to that level with a bad hire? Possibly.. but we won't accept that now. A lot changed during that time also besides getting Mullen. We got rid of our Penny pinching AD Larry Templton who refused to fire Jackie because he was the best thing we had ever had, then hired Croom ..because hey..bama had interviewed him.. Then we got a new crazy president who fired LT and put in place a guy named Greg Byrne (Dollar Bill's son.. and now the AD at Bama). Add to that the influx of SEC Money and we can demand higher expectations. As we got with Dan. I can't find the stats we were 3 or 4th in the sec over that same time in wins. I get it though, we haven't done anything consistently to gain the respect of you or others. But that's why this hire is so important. I still believe it's Napier. Unless he wants to wait on Baylor. either way. we will know something tonight / tomorrow.

Cohen has done good in all his other hires. I'll give him one pass. Has to get this one right.

Had nothing to do with being a yankee... Dan Mullen was a yankee even if he had been at florida for a few years. Hell he was more abrasiveness to the people of starkville than Joe was. So again, it's nothing to do with him being a yankee, it had to do with him not instilling toughness and discipline into his program. We lost our S&C coach last year and instead of going out and finding someone that was hard nosed, we just promoted from within and that guy didn't have a clue. And you are wrong about MSU being 6-7. You can say that traditionally but times have changed over the past 10 years and it's the new standard that isn't that hard to achieve... We have had 2 6-7 seasons and 1 5-7 season since Dan Mullen rebuilt us from the ashes of Croom, so 11 years. But also made 10 straight bowls.
-
Again. It was more than the record. It was because we weren't prepared, competitive, or disciplined. He kept saying he didn't inherit the 85 bears and needed to build something here..No he didn't it was already built. He was destroying it. More so... how he celbrated the egg bowl win..as if he had done something special and wasn't GIVEN the game and not being fired that night.. You don't alienate your fan base by telling them to go kick rocks and pound sand. You don't get told by your AD the bowl game is a business expense.. and then get your ass blown out (it wasn't as close as the final score). You would be hard to find any mu fan that wanted him to stay another year.
-
Meh... we are all very split on that question. The name being pushed by some is Joe Judge who is interviewing as the HC of the Giants today. Never been an OC. Just a ST coordinator. Played under Jackie at MSU. Then worked under Sly Croom and then Nick Saban and then been with New England since 2012. He's well known in the south and some names have already been floated around concerning staff that would be good for a coach leaning on the job. That's the problem. We can't do that again right now.. we need an established d1 coach. Evidently he can bring Aaron Feld back to MSU where he started..from where he currently is at Oregon. Dave Clawson of Wake Forrest is getting some talk.. but hasn't intereviewed I'm not in favor of the service academy guys..no thanks to triple option. TROY CALHOUN or JEFF MONKEN. And hell no to Cheesedick

I get what you are saying,..just going on what has been reported. . Max of 7mil. down to 4 depending on pay of new position.

Moorhead was a good person but HORRIBLE head coach. He was sinking the ship Mullen had built back up. He had the best defense in the nation last year and only won 8 games, including losing to Mullen. The best win of his career was Auburn in 18, when 2 asst's convinced him to RUN THE DAMN BALL all night long and not play his style of play. The next week back with his check with me crap at the line down to 5 seconds. Our team lost all leadership and Joe wanted to be the players best friend. He alientated part of the team with the move to bring his boy, Tommy Stevens in to be the QB this year and make him team captain. He can whine about the "tutorgate" issue but that lost 2 defensive starters and had nothing to do with his offensive issues. He lost me after the KSU game this year. I had given him one more chance after the Iowa bowl game in 18. He fired a lot of us up after his first egg bowl win when he almost got in a fight with UM's hack of an AD on the field. It was sad that for some reason we decided not to fire him after the egg. We should not reward a 6-6 record and a win over our rival. But finally, it was the continued discipline issues on and off the field that got him fired. 5 seniors skipped bowl practice. then the fight with a "leader" of the team, Willie Gay and our starting QB. No worries though, he will ride off and be a OC again next year likely while collecting 4-7 mil from us.

I seriously had to google WTF Elko is... That's not happening. If we go the coordinator route this time it would be Todd Grantham from Florida..who was at MSU 2 years ago..and his son will be on the baseball team next year. Things might have really fallen apart with Napier tonight supposedly...as it sounds like he wants to see what Rhule does with the NFL jobs.. but don't think we hang on that long and move on to either Joe Judge, Dave Clawson, sarkisian or someone else out of left field.
-
Moorhead is approaching Croom levels to me... just so embarrassing what he has done. I could care less as long as that POS is still in charge... He told the fans that don't support him to go kick rocks and pound sand.. Have you ever wondered if losing to your rival would have actually made your program better in the long run? A player "pissing" on our field cost them the game.. they instead get a new head coach.. and our coach saves his job.. Of course not, Texas would never settle for letting one game define a coach. It's important but not ALL that matters. whatever a pathetic school am I fan of...
