  3. There's been criticism of the decision. Some are arguing they're making the same mistakes made in Bakhmut, Kursk, and Vuhledar where they hold out past the point that it's advantageous for the defenders and take excessive casualties.
  4. I'm in Jefferson County. I work with a guy who's household makes over $300k/year. He gets pissy whenever people vote for tax increases and he threatens to move to Florida or Texas. If he wasn't on vacation, I'm sure he'd be ranting today. Good guy, but has a weird libertarian bent.
  5. The latest reports from Pokrovsk are that the Ukrainian units aren't encircled, but the situation isn't great. The decision has apparently been made to hold out as long as possible to inflict maximum damage, and because Pokrovsk holds a lot of strategic value.

  8. He told me they had been bombed in the raids during WW2. Ploesti has several refineries so it's a big part of their history and culture.
  9. I work with a guy that is from Ploesti. He actually worked in one of the refineries for several years before immigrating to the US.

  13. The shipyard closed in 1995. It also did not build any nuclear powered ships.
