Several of my aunts and uncles made a trip to Russia in 1979 or 1981 (it was either right before or after the Olympics as they brought back tons of Olympic pins to give to us kids) and one of my uncles was standing out in front of his hotel one morning smoking a cigarette and a guy came up to him and offered him $200 US cash right then and there for his Levi’s. He said he would have sold them if it hadn’t been snowing.
Yeah, I'm not going the 50' to the shitter at night without a firearm in AK and you walk 1.5 miles in the snow, at night, without a light, empty handed?
Looks like there is access from the road right where it says Dickerson's River Bottom. Lots of cars parked on the side of the road if you zoom in on google maps.
Lights Out was the name of Rather’s book. Truth is 3 guys with semi auto 308s could shut down a high voltage transfer station in just a few minutes. That HV switchgear isn’t cheap and there not a whole lot of spares sitting around. There is also another EOTWAWKI book called Lights Out by David Crawford about an EMP attack on the US and how a small group near Floresville survives. The book was originally written as fan fiction on the Frugal Squirrels preparedness site.
Yep, 'twas. And the smells of coastal bermuda hay, cowshit, diesel tractor exhaust, fresh cut cedar and 2 stroke OPE engines on a crisp winter day help that feeling linger with you.
Was up at the ranch this weekend. Looked over some of the new calves, helped haul a little hay and cut a few trailer loads of brush off a couple of roads. Decided to take lunch down by the lake. Enjoyed my meal.
