  1. Thanks, I’ll attempt this approach. I think the platform may be dying anyway. The volume of potential contracts they currently have posted has dwindled significantly in recent months. They only have 35 listed right now and several are 10+days old which tells me they’re not filling them at the rate they used too.
  2. I still get a couple of contracts a year through the platform, so I don't necessarily want to burn that bridge. The client most likely wouldn't be utilizing them for other engagements.
  3. I've done some freelance work in my field and to clients I've used a sales platform that matches freelancers with clients. Most of the projects are short term, but some have gone on longer. I've got one client that I've been working with for 2 years and we've had an annual contract that renews every year. At this point, we have a good working relationship and see no reason to stop...the problem is the platform keeps a 50% cut of what the client pays. Both the client and I are in agreement on moving off platform. I could lower my rate a little bit to give this client (it's a non-profit) some savings, but also increase my take. However, there is a buyout clause that is like 50-70% of the annual contract (I can't remember the exact amount off hand). This year's contract is due to end soon and I'm looking for a way around the buyout clause. I've been contracted as a Sole Proprietor, but am wondering if I get an LLC going if I can contract under the LLC instead of me personally to avoid the buyout clause. Does anyone have any input or advice?
  4. Great books and enjoyed the first couple of seasons of the show. I’ve only read3-4 of the books so haven’t watched the show beyond that. I need to pick these back up.
  5. Built this entry table. I used Peruvian walnut, read oak and a third wood that I can’t remember for the top and coated with a poly. The base is just box store lumber painted and stained. I may refinish the top at some point since seems like the topcoat is a little uneven.
  6. Its a tough position since it's a sibling. I can only speak from my experience, but the steps tell us to make amends wherever possible except when to do so would injure ourselves or others. To me, this is one of those situations where the amends would cause more harm than good because of the circumstances and my sponsor would have told me to stay the hell away, because bringing up past things like this could cause more emotional damage to the victim. I don't know the family dynamic, but seems to me like this creates an elephant in the room type situation, so the amends is warranted. In going through the amends, I've always been told to make them in person, say my part, then shut up and listen to what the other person has to say. Seems to me that that opportunity wasn't given to your loved one. The whole purpose of the amends is to set things right with the harmed person and honor their wishes. I think a response letter for them to say their part is more than warranted.
  7. I thought of this as more of a tribute to Prince. I always enjoyed Fallon's story about Prince making an impromptu performance at the SNL 40th after party.
  8. We picked up the truck in GA this weekend and brought it home last night. For the time being I’m parking it in storage until I can make room in my garage or find a shop. I still need to inventory it but I do have the hood, rear benders, tailgate and bed pieces. Most of those have had the body work and are primed. Some touch up work is needed in places but based on my limited knowledge it looks close. The original engine was replaced with a 350. It’s a rebuilt motor my father in law put in before he had the body work started but it has been sitting for years with no fluids in it. I know I’ve got my work cut out for me but am excited to take this on.
  9. I definitely want to do it and my wife (no pics) is on board. I’ve just never taken on a project like this before and not sure what the order of operations would be. Won’t even know for sure what all needs to be done until I lay eyes on it myself. Going to do some research on it. I feel confident about doing some of the mechanic and wiring work myself. I imagine this will be a project I complete a little at a time as budget allows.
  10. My Father-in-law is giving us his 59 Chevy pickup. He’s had it since he was a teenager and is only the second owner. Its currently in a friends garage in Georgia who’s worked on it here and there over the years. The guy is going into hospice so he’s got to get it and wants to go ahead and pass it down. I know it’s going to take some work and $$ but I’ve always liked the idea of something like this. From what he says, the engine still runs the body is pretty much ready to be assembled and painted. The cab is on it, from the pictures I’ve seen the bed needs to go back on. I know we’re looking at some work still but I’ve no idea what I’m getting myself into. I feel ok with doing some basic mechanic and assembly work but I’m clueless about paint and body work. Any advice is appreciated. Pic for reference but I’m not sure this is even the most recent picture.
  11. No, not at all. Some of us still go to BBG too. Some of us just had a vision for a new group that wasnt necessarily the clubhouse style AA.
  12. Suburban group in Plano is another legit one. My home group AA101 in Rockwall is a fairly new group but is a strong one.
  13. This will be next week's disaster on Landman.
  14. I've got several tubs of antique porcelein dolls. Some were hand poured and painted by my stepdad's grandmother, but then there are others that were manufactured. Some are by a German Manufacturer called K&R. I've found a little info on the web that says they were made up until sometime in the 1940's. Would be interested to see what some of those are worth.
  15. My teens have been doing their own laundry for a few years. They each have an assigned "laundry day" to get their stuff washed and dried.
  16. Someone pointed out that Kayce's dead son is buried there, could that make it designated as an Indian burial ground?
  17. Maybe an employer where it was provided for a w9?
  18. I'm in the same boat along with Josh Allen and Kyle Pitts....frustrating.
  19. Saw these last night. Did not want to try.
  20. That is true, and I'm not against rehab (I made a trip there myself). In my case, I wasn't willing and honest when I checked out and found myself drunk again within 90 days because I took the middle of the road approach. I knew the solution, but wasn't willing to fully surrender and be completely honest. I've seen this experience in many others along the way.
  21. I'll third this, rehab is a place to dry out and hopefully get introduced to the long term solution, but it doesn't work if they aren't willing or ready. To quote the spiritual experience: "Willingness, honesty and open mindedness are the essentials of recovery. But these are indispensable."
  22. He stopped doing his laugh on purpose because he didn’t like people mimicking him. https://www.vulture.com/article/eddie-murphy-changed-beverly-hills-cop-laugh.html#
  23. My youngest was a private adoption (basically surrendered to us by birth mother). SD was not in picture. If i recall, our attorney had us run ads in local paper looking for him and the non-response was considered is surrender of rights.
