  1. Well, he shouldn’t have said it publicly. There’s a reason why the White House immediately walked it back and clarified his comments.
  2. @Napoleon We’ve tried that. Unfortunately we aren’t in a part of the country that has much of that and we are still in high season so they are all busy with projects that make them a lot more money - they are busy making canvas boat covers, boat rain curtains, and other upholstery work. We’ll find something/someone and make it work.
  3. At least we are still outperforming our football team in the rankings.
  4. I’m in Costa Rica right now and we’ve been trying to source any Ukrainian flag to fly on our boat. I think I found a guy that can bring me one in 2 weeks. Anyone coming down sooner?
  5. Where did y’all end up? There are definitely places you don’t want to take fish but most are good enough to excellent.
  6. It’s been a long, long time since I’ve taken fish anywhere at home. My first guess would be Fins. They do an outstanding garlic fish dish and I’m sure they could also do grilled/blackened. Or ask Josh. Glad y’all had a great day. We are taking yellowfin tuna we caught yesterday to a restaurant here in the Quepos marina. Can’t wait.
  7. I’ve also heard it requires overnight accommodations i.e. a cabin and head. Honestly though I think you are correct in your thinking about people just wanting to call their boat a yacht.
  8. Just going to leave this here. Marlin, sailfish, tuna today and would have caught more but my captain couldn’t stop looking at this Tica girl. Also caught a manta ray by accident and it took up well over an hour of our fishing time. We thought it was a big tuna or a foul hooked marlin. IMG_0356.MOV
  9. They are extremely laid back. Their driving behavior is just bizarre. Our driver kept saying “Chupador de culo” and it always made me laugh but now that I drive my own car here some I know what he meant. Like Austin, Quepos has a bad grackle problem. These little birds have learned how to mimic a car horn because they hear it so often.
  10. For rational, healthy people, yes.
  11. Well we didn’t get finished today so I did not get to take @ernest_t_bassout for a cruise. I’m 99% positive we will be done tomorrow so he just needs to stay one more day. Fishing is still kind of slow but the marlin are still around. Typical day is raise 2 or 3 marlin and 8-10 sails. I’m here 3 more weeks if anyone wants to come fish.
  12. I knew specifying cloth would trigger some of y’all. Please explain. I’m talking about going into a store or restaurant or whatever. I’m an asshole for wearing a cloth mask? You’re the one with the problem not me.
  13. Ulcerative colitis here. I was in my 20’s when I got it and like a typical guy refused to keep up with my meds and checkups. Well, that didn’t work out so well for me and I had my colon removed about 20 years ago in an emergency procedure. A few years and 3 additional surgeries and I’ve been “cured” ever since. Just have to use the bathroom about 5 times more often than most people.
  14. Cool. I wear my cloth mask anywhere it’s required even though it does nothing for me or you. It’s not a big deal to me. But the mask theatre is ridiculous. Walk into a restaurant wearing a mask but take it off when seated. Wear a mask on the plane but take it off to eat or drink. Sorry, that’s just regarded. Most of us have accepted that we are going to live with this shit forever and realize that other than getting vaxxed there is nothing we can do about it.
  15. I’ve been in Costa Rica for a few months and we see that here a lot. A large majority of the locals wear masks everywhere no matter what they are doing. Walking down the street, riding a bike, in the car, in every store, etc. It’s weird and funny because Ticos in general basically ignore laws. Traffic laws aren’t even a suggestion here because nobody obeys them. Makes it really interesting to drive around here.
  16. Yeah so they’ve been working on it for about 10 days now. Took the parts off and took them to the shop, cleaned and painted the stuff that is still good, got new parts for some of it, now putting it back together. Honestly I thought I knew a little about the engines but after watching them do this 90% of the time I’m thinking what the fuck is that? I’m glad I’m not a diesel mechanic.
  17. A bunch of us are back to normal. Get the vaccine/boosters and go back to living your life. You should try it there’s a whole great world out there.
  18. Progress. First pic was 2 days ago and the other is this morning. They still need to get those parts installed and then do an oil change and then we are good to go.
  19. Met @ernest_t_bass and his 2 young daughters (no pics) at the marina last night. They’ve done the waterfall tour and zip lining and seem to be having a good time. My boat is having the 1000 hour service done right now and I’m hoping it gets finished today so we can take them on a booze/sunset cruise this evening.
  20. Any new news on this? Friend of mine is leaving CR tomorrow to head back to Texas. He just headed into town to get his test done. Right now I’m booked to fly home in mid April and hoping I won’t have to get tested by then. Of all the stupid shit the CDC has done the last few years this may be the worst.
  21. Lol no he’s not. That’s like ztejas calling Cunningham a 50% 3 point shooter. Sample size and all.
  22. Bullshit wtfffffffffff. No foul?
  23. Ok, one shot to make your first sweet 16 ever. Get er done.
  24. Man I’m going to miss Big12 basketball.
  25. Oh shut the fuck up. GO FROGS!
