  1. He was headed for a potential all pro laden career, and that injury robbed him of it. He had a single season that was decent and otherwise sucked completely for the Cowboys and bowed out of the league unceremoniously. Probably cost him $50+ million in salary and many years of a career. Only reason it wasn't far worse is because Jerry Jones is a top 5 dumbass in all of sports. Now that's a worst case scenario and unlikely to happen, but again, intelligent people think in terms of calculated risk. I know many of the old school fans here like to think in terms of the days when players made jack shit and went to sell houses in the off-season. They'd play for the hell of it because they weren't really risking anything even if the game was meaningless. That was the terrible bowl era that existed for far far too long. This new era actually gives more than 1 or 2 meaningful games in December/January. Is still not great because of the unbalanced conferences and weight placed on record and not quality of opponents, but it's slowly getting there. At least now the people getting screwed have 2 or 3 losses and not 0 or 1. The sport has moved past the need for meaningless bowl games. The $$$ on the table has blown past the level where playing for meaningless games makes any sense for players going to the draft, or even your starting QB who is returning next year. Why risk Arch, who has taken a beating this season, behind a line that will be missing starters who are leaving for the draft? If your job told you if you took the rest of the year off you'd get several million dollars next summer, but if you worked the rest of the year (at no pay) there's even a 1 percent chance you wouldn't get the money, none of you would choose to work. You're expecting these players to think with your stupid fan brain. And unfortunately that pressure causes some of them to make bad decisions. That's why the coaches need to protect them and do what is right for them. And right for the team. This game is meaningless.
  2. That's smart. Then you add the option for them to be able to pay their way out of not having to visit that Disney shit hole. Earn some extra $$$ for the transfer portal.
  3. Yeah, the idea is momentum (inertia) doesn't translate over 9 months of inactivity. The only thing that can happen in this bullshit bowl that can have any meaningful impact on next season is if one of our returning players goes down with a 9+ months long injury. An object in motion continues in motion unless acted on by a force. Well, the end of the season and not playing again for 9 months with a completely different roster is a pretty big force to kill the motion built during the season. Thats why getting returning players who didn't get much or any time all the reps is the best use of this time. It alone won't make a difference to next season, but as a beginning to an off-season development campaign it is a solid foundation.
  4. What would you personally pay for a bottle of Elmer T Lee?
  5. No, it's always sucked. Just some years out university has done well and been worth watching
  6. 84 years later and it's the USA that's gone full fascist. Lessons learned then weren't passed down. The economic and political destruction of the current USA will teach the same lessons learned from 1929 to 1945 to a whole new generation of Americans.
  7. After the laugher schedule they got this season they should have to play Georgia, Alabama, Oklahoma, and us next season.
  8. While every other title contender plays 3 or 4 cupcakes and easily waltzes into the playoff picture. I think Slacks picked up some considerable brain damage somewhere along the way.
  9. Hill isnt playing. The only NFL draft bound player I wouldn't be surprised to see is Taaffe. As far as tape, they played multiple teams that finished top 15 in the country this season. They will go to the combine. Some may even play in the senior bowl. Tape in a meaningless game no one cares about isnt going to make any difference to the draft. It shouldn't be up to the players. Sark should sit Arch and Simmons and give this game to Lacy and all the freshmen as well as the backups. Getting some game reps would do them well ahead of spring, and unless we're going hog wild bonkers in the portal we'll be counting on a lot of them for snaps next season. People like Burke, Moore, Muhammad, etc should not play. Sark should take it off the table for them. Thank them for everything and tell them to get started working on the combine and getting ready for the predraft workouts for scouts and GMs. Do what's best for their future and remove any pressure on them. Their work at Texas is done.
  10. Then what's the point? Just stupid risk with nothing to gain. Simmons doesnt need extra reps 9 1/2 months before any real game is played again.
  11. Colin Simmons shouldn't opt out. Sark should keep him out. It's the coaches jobs to manage the roster correctly.
  12. Spoken like a true moron. Risk has to have an adequate level of reward to make it worth taking. Risk without a positive reward to consequence ratio is how stupid people go through life. There's no reward to big timing some other non playoff team in a meaningless exhibition. There is reward to getting all of your freshmen and young players you want to contribute next season a ton of snaps in a meaningless game.
  13. The players who are returning should give a shit. All except Colin Simmons, dude doesn't need to play in a meaningless exhibition game and risk losing next season like Jaylon Smith. Every player who is going to the draft should just be starting working out for the combine now.
  14. I would be surprised so many people here are too stupid to understand this very very simple point, but the last decade of bearing witness to America's insanity has shown this level of stupidity is standard here. People who get all hard about a fucking September game that they gladly want to sacrifice playoff runs for them. Same people who love giving all their money to street shell and 3 card monte dealers.
  15. Guaranteed to do that against a non con schedule of UTEP, Sam Houston St, Wofford, and UMASS. That's the whole point of this.
  16. Maybe. Michigan should want to do it and next season Ohio St doesnt have the cake walk to the Big 10 title game they had this year. They get Indiana on the road and Oregon at home. Had neither this season. Honestly the SEC and Big 10 as conferences should get together and collude to cancel all p4 non con games across the board. Tell the NCAA to change the system or get fucked and enjoy a September with zero games anyone cares to watch. I want to see them at DKR in September so we can see this team playing playoff football in 2026. Not some glorified garbage scrimmage no one will watch.
  17. Anything less than what I suggested is a massive mistake
  18. That was a 4 team playoff. If you dont even make a 12 team playoff then it's back to the drawing board and you need to find out what you have going forward. Every school should just use it to play their backups that will be back next season. Maybe that would get the NCAA to cancel these stupid exhibition games and go to mandatory p4 non con round robin and a 16 team playoff.
  19. Yep, only reason I'd watch a second of it no matter who we play is if Lacey and the freshmen played all game. This is nothing but a glorified scrimmage. Dont care if we lose by 40. Just play all the freshmen.
  20. The committee made their choices. Even putting BYU ahead of us says everything. Cancel every p4 non con game going forward. Fuck it, cancel OSU next year and Michigan the year after too. Tell them we'll see them in the playoffs. All that matters is record, losing no more than 2 games with an SEC schedule.
