  1. This ^ I guess if you treat it like any normal vacation (stick to relaxing stuff like sightseeing, dining, shopping, golfing, laying by the pool, etc) then 6 days would be pretty doable. The question then is, why in god's name would you choose Vegas for a trip like that? I guess I've never tied it, so who knows, but I can think of a ton of better places for that type of "relaxing" trip. But yeah, doing Vegas the way I've always done it, and how I imagine most people do it, and how it was clearly intended to be done (balls to the wall, excess is best, booze-filled overindulgence of strippers and cocaine)...6 days would be fucking brutal.
  2. 6 night? Holy shit. Trying to make up for missing the last few trips in one go, huh? RIP thunderlounge’s liver

    Javier’s

Yeah, the one and only time I've ever enjoyed it was boozing on the patio with a group of friends. But we just drank and ate chips, so we could have been pretty much anywhere. Can't really credit the restaurant with that.

    Javier’s

I've just never gotten the love for this place. Every time we've gone (the first time over 10 years ago), wife and I have both just thought it was really meh. And every time, we've gone with people who love it and can't wait to show us how great it is...because, obviously we "must have ordered wrong" or "didn't go with the right people" or something. And every single time, it is meh. Went about 2 months ago, just the wife and I (hoping maybe our company just sucked all the other times) with the hookup of a mutual friend of Javier's. Mutual friend eats there all the time (and is very close with Javier), and just like all the others, swears to me that we must just not be doing it right. Mutual friend tells us exactly what to order, made sure Javier knew we were coming so he could take extra special care of us..."you're going to love it doing it the way we do it, blah, blah, blah." Food was very meh (maybe even more-so than the previous times), decor was really really dated and tired. Place needs a remodel badly. Service was just okay, nothing special, and certainly nothing that felt any part of "hookup from some of his best friends" level. Javier was nice enough, but his interaction with us amounted to not much more than maybe getting us seated a little quicker than normal. Mutual friend said, "Be sure to have Javier get you one of his special margaritas that his (Javier's) wife always drinks." Javier said he had no clue what our mutual friend was talking about, but that he'd try to get us something special. It showed up and it was just a margarita. The place was packed every time though, and without fail, I'm sure I'll get plenty of people telling me how great it is and how we're just not doing it right, etc. I don't get it.
  5. I could see this happening. Although, USC had by far their best shot at Urban last year and didn't even try to take it (at least not to anyone's knowledge publicly). He was primed and ready...living in LA, working with a bunch of SC grads in his ear, shopping the coaching market, etc.
  6. Intimate partner violence with injury? Whatever happened to "domestic violence"? Or just plain old "assault"? smfh
  7. Assuming that's all true (I think you're right about some version of it all, BTW), what does it say to you that he still said no? Is it possible the AD was willing to give him everything he wanted except the one thing he really wanted/needed to say yes, which was complete control? Is it possible the decision makers had an arrogance about them throughout the process that made Urban feel like he wasn't really going to have that much say in anything? Is it possible that there were waaaaay too many chiefs and not nearly enough indians at UT for Meyer to ever really feel like he could be successful there? Is it possible that Urban took one look at the entitled "We're Texas" culture of the entire institution (from the "big cigars" who think money should be able to buy them anything, to the "woke culture" who put more time and energy into whining about shit like being forced to sing a song that might hurt someone's feelings than they do into football, to everyone in between) and realized that it won't ever translate to sustainable success on the field?
  8. Oh, look closer. Just when you think it can't get any more aggy, you're reminded that...it's aggy and of course it can. There were like 6 of them all sitting together wearing it. So, not just one dumbass aggy decided this was a good look. Nope, a whole group of middle aged men pooled their burgundy truck payment money together to get front row seats and after talking it over and thinking it through, decided, not only to all wear matching shirts, but to go with that shirt. You can't make this shit up...
  9. Some of them even boo'd when they were supposed to hiss. That offensive behavior will not be tolerated...prompted a strongly worded letter.

    Culture

Yeah, and no head coach worth a fuck is walking through that door if the shit culture of the school won't get out of his fucking way and let him do things his way.
  11. Landomatic

    Culture

Close... Mack was let go and Saban peeled back about 2 layers to discover the culture at Texas was fucked, so he got a raise from Alabama Herman was cut loose and Meyer peeled back about 2 layers and realized the culture at Texas was even more fucked than the last round, so he went to Jacksonville And none of that is in chronological order

    Culture

No shit? And you really have that mentality? And don't see this (below)?

    Culture

How old are you irl? Serious question.
  14. Landomatic

    Culture

And Urban (and Saban before him) said no because the Texas culture is fucked and they could see it a mile away.
  15. Landomatic

    Culture

Yes...it's the overall culture that's the problem. And yes, everything you mentioned is part of it. And then some.
  16. He spelled it out pretty fucking clearly, I'd say. Which part don't you understand?
  17. Yep. I’m all for that strong silent stoic type for a head coach, but for fucks sake, show a little passion at certain points. He was like a mascot for zero fucks given, just get me the fuck outa here
  18. Florida State played ND hard last week. We wish we were Florida State
  19. Yep. Said it in another thread…entitled, soft, We’re Texas culture horse shit
  20. I wish. At least Jerry acts like he still wants to win and makes moves to try to get there (even if they’re the wrong moves). Texas apparently just thinks that shit will be handed to them. This is some entitled, We’re Texas culture bullshit right here
  21. So you’ve got us winning the SEC in 3 years? Not sure what game you’re watching
