  1. And now the Chris Ruffos and John Roberts of the world would have us believe that we live in a color blind, color neutral world because they’ve changed out offensive racial slurs with terms like DEI, wokeness and CRT.
  2. Black Sirius had a blast with this story today. The bug eyed butter biscuit who interviewed her on Fox is from Garland and worked with James O’Keefe at one point.
  3. Most of conservative America has never gotten over the election of Barack Obama. It’s the only thing that explains this obsession with black voter suppression.
  4. Does Chief Justice Roberts know this kind of thing is still happening? https://www.yahoo.com/news/wing-operatives-jacob-wohl-jack-220938188.html Far-right operatives Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman have agreed to pay New York Attorney General Letitia James' office up to $1.2 million for a robocall campaign they put together to suppress the Black vote ahead of the 2020 election. “Wohl and Burkman orchestrated a depraved and disinformation-ridden campaign to intimidate Black voters in an attempt to sway the election in favor of their preferred candidate. Now they will pay up to $1.25 million," James said in a statement Tuesday announcing the agreement, which still needs to be approved by a judge. James filed suit in 2021 against the pair, who were known for smearing President Donald Trump's political opponents with transparently false accusations. The suit alleged that Wohl and Burkman were responsible for more than 5,000 robocalls filled with misinformation about voting in New York in August 2020. The speaker on the call identified herself as “Tamika Taylor of Project 1599” and falsely claimed that voting by mail would result in voters’ having their personal information used by the police to track old warrants and allow credit card companies to collect debts and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to track people for mandatory vaccinations.
  5. The Baylor faithful are hopeful they can bring McCasland home. McCasland’s Tech grad wife thinks they’re already at home.
  6. Here’s what he said about Religions: they are the fingers that point us to the moon. They are not the moon themselves.
  7. Richard Rohr is a bad ass.
  8. True, but there is no shortage of other schools willing and able to do business with these kids. I’m friends with a board trustee at SMU and their boosters can’t wait to throw all kinds money at these new moguls.
  9. Somebody help me understand how DEI causes injury to those in the dominant culture college campuses in Texas?
  10. Correct. And everybody outside of the South will snicker.
  11. The notion of historical blue bloods continuing to be a thing is very much an open question. The playing field has leveled and continues to change. The days of kids caring about Roll Tide, Pig Sooie, or Hook ‘Em are so over. They’re business people now and they’re all about business.
  12. It’s annoying to watch her be so willfully ignorant. She’s stupid too.
  13. There 71 select schools in the AAU. I would be surprised when one considers the impact on faculty recruitment and retention, research dollars and brand, Texas and aggy administrators won’t being saying “so.”
  14. It’s a reset for him and Piggy will reap the rewards.
  15. I think he’d be silly to leave. Doesn’t have much to prove and Baylor will pay him.
  16. Scott Drew is prominent in KY’s conversation.
  17. It’s still unsettling that college adjacent people feel comfortable suggesting that absence of people of color (who do not play sports for LSU) can make white people happy.
  18. So, it has only taken a few Republicans 5 years come to grips with unassailable facts and admit that their party is irredeemably lost: https://www.yahoo.com/news/house-intelligence-committee-chair-says-155145884.html House Intelligence Committee chair Mike Turner said Sunday that Russian propaganda has “absolutely” seeped its way to Congress, saying some of his Republican colleagues have repeated false claims on the chamber’s floor. “It is absolutely true we see, directly coming from Russia, attempts to mask communications that are anti-Ukraine and pro-Russia messages, some of which we even hear being uttered on the House floor,” the Ohio Republican told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union.” Turner’s comments come after House Foreign Affairs chair Michael McCaul’s told Puck News last week that Russian propaganda has “infected a good chunk” of the GOP base. Turner, who has been an outspoken advocate of passing additional aid to embattled Ukraine, said Sunday: “There are members of Congress today who still incorrectly say that this conflict between Russia and Ukraine is over NATO, which of course it is not.”
  19. Shit will get real when the AAU opens an investigation into how the state of Texas has negatively impacted the quality of education offered in state publics with its onerous limitations on what can be taught in the social sciences.
  20. Going to the Sec should make racists in Texas feel better about themselves. Damn. https://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/politics/watching-the-happiest-country-on-earth-finland-on-pbs/112931525/
  21. Anybody who thinks state schools in Texas are sufficiently diverse, equitable and inclusive is just not paying attention. Since the first Black student was admitted to UT in 1956, no public university playing D1 sports at the highest level has even 5,000 black students enrolled - and that’s in the state that is home to the largest number of black citizens in the country. Black people feel under assault in Texas and it’s not because we’re paranoid.
