  1. And Jesus said, “who touched me?” Lk 8:45-46
  2. Tech and Houston find themselves in a perpetual state of catch up to UT and aggy because of long term inequities in funding. Even if the state started to fund all systems equally starting tomorrow, they would still be behind because they’ve always been behind, and without an equitable arrangement, there is no catching up.
  3. Well, he’s wasted millions of our tax dollars on razor wire, bus and plane tickets for migrants.
  4. I’d like to hear from those of you who really believe DEI is a danger to Texans? What’s bad about diversity, or inclusion? Most people opposed to equity can’t tell you what it means.
  5. Can we make a distinction between Bible thumpers and Christ followers?
  6. One could have slept through a history class and still learned about all of the enslavers.
  7. They won’t stop the flogging until she bleeds or finds Trump’s 11,780 votes.
  8. The world got along without race for the overwhelming majority of its history. The U.S. has never been without it.”
  9. The public face of America’s official racial classification is its census, and has been so since the first decennial enumeration in 1790. The initial classification was implicit in two civil status distinctions: free or slave, taxed or untaxed. Applying these distinctions in the census generated a count of three ancestry groups (European, African, and [untaxed] Native American), which set the foundation for all racial classifications to come. From that starting point, the division of the population by race has been repeated in every decennial census, down to the most recent in 2000 https://www.amacad.org/publication/racial-classification-america#:~:text=The public face of America's,or slave%2C taxed or untaxed.
  10. Swalwell has become quite the bad ass. He should tutor his colleagues.
  11. The US is unique in that it is the place where race classification began.
  12. Mitch did some evil shit during his reign, but denying Obama’s SC pick a hearing for nearly a year was the most despicable, imo.
  13. it is true that a black kid with a stellar academic record and board scores is likely to choose Morehouse over UT. That has not always been the case.
  14. Since the first black student was admitted to UT in 1956, black enrollment has exploded to 4.3% 68 years later. It’s as bad at other P5 publics in Texas,, which btw is home to the largest number of black people in the country.
  15. Where the hell is she? Has anybody reminded her how she torpedoed a 6-3, 7-2 Democratic majority on the Court? And don’t get me started on fat ass killer Mike.
  16. In January, I called to schedule a doctor recommended routine procedure with UTSW. The earliest date I was able to lock in is in late April. Tell me again how bad things are in Canada?
  17. Harlan is not going to allow Clarence to recuse. He’s too useful.
  18. I think you’re gonna see more of that closer to home.
  19. Now the SC has decided to hear the Trump’s immunity case. I guess the three judge panel’s rendering left something to be desired.
  20. I think you’re gonna see a response from the communities most affected by this. College sports fans in Texas won’t like it either: As doors close and funding fades, students worry UT-Austin is taking Texas’ new DEI ban too far https://www.texastribune.org/2024/02/26/university-texas-austin-dei-ban-students/
  21. Biden has to be more concerned about his son’s long term health than anything else. Hunter’s takes says it all: https://www.axios.com/2024/02/26/hunter-joe-biden-sober-2024-trump President Biden privately has expressed worry that Republicans' daily attacks and the criminal prosecution of his son Hunter are taking a toll on his family — and could even lead Hunter to relapse, given the family's history of struggling with addiction. Why it matters: Hunter Biden knows this. He told Axios in a rare interview that he sees his continued sobriety as crucial not only to his life — but also to ensuring Donald Trump doesn't return to the Oval Office. "Most importantly, you have to believe that you're worth the work, or you'll never be able to get sober. But I often do think of the profound consequences of failure here," Hunter said. "Maybe it's the ultimate test for a recovering addict — I don't know," Hunter Biden said. "I have always been in awe of people who have stayed clean and sober through tragedies and obstacles few people ever face. They are my heroes, my inspiration." He added that in this case, "I have something much bigger than even myself at stake. We are in the middle of a fight for the future of democracy."
  22. Let’s get this ball rolling: https://www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/democrats-introduce-bill-to-expand-u-s-supreme-court/#:~:text=WASHINGTON%2C D.C. — On Tuesday%2C,from nine to 13 justices. US Senate and House Democrats introduced a bill that would add four seats to the U.S. Supreme Court, bringing the bench from nine to 13 justices. The bill was introduced by Sens. Ed Markey (D-Mass.), Tina Smith (D-Minn.) and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Reps. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), Hank Johnson (D-Ga.), Cori Bush (D-Mo.) and Adam Schiff (D-Calif.). The Judiciary Act was first introduced in 2021; a press release cites the growing support for court expansion in the intervening two years. Today, the argument for an expanded Court has reemerged. “Republicans have hijacked the confirmation process and stolen the Supreme Court majority—all to appeal to far-right judicial activists who for years have wanted to wield the gavel to roll back fundamental rights,” Markey said in a press release. “Each scandal uncovered, each norm broken, each precedent-shattering ruling delivered is a reminder that we must restore justice and balance to the rogue, radical Supreme Court. It is time we expand the Court.”
  23. Can you imagine the shit this kid takes from his other criminal friends about his mom groping men in theaters? That has to be traumatizing.
