  1. It's in Austin. We have started to update the kitchen and going to slowly tackle the other updates. Still trying to decide what the best plan of attack is.
  2. Brat, where do you conceal your side piece when you're at the nudist camp?
  3. Cutting edge company in Austin looking for a software engineer. If you are interested, PM me and I can get your resume in the hands of the hiring manager.
  4. I need some serious Surly help finding a product. I am looking to replace the brass kickplate on my front door. The measurements are 4" x 36" It has 12 holes for screws that attach it to the door (top row of 6 and bottom row of 6). I have been to Home Depot, Lowe's, Ace, looked online, etc.... and I can't find the damn thing! Everything out there is 6" x 36". I know someone is going to tell me to buy the 8" x 36" and cut it in half but I don't want the lines to look shitty! Has anyone been through this before? If so, where did you find a 4" door kick plate?
  5. What are the appropriate upgrades, and budget to do those upgrades, that I should do for a house that I am about to sell? The house is 15 years old and in a golf course community. We are thinking about updating all the appliances, putting in new flooring, painting interior and exterior, changing out the ac units outside, and replacing the fence. Anything else we should do or not do?
  6. I'm looking for a good fast growing evergreen shrub to build a hedge/barrier up next to an elevated deck so you cant see under the deck. It needs to be able to grow to approx 7ft-8ft tall. I had a Texas Sage there but it dies. It's on the East side of the house so it gets am sun and pm shade. Any suggestions?
  7. Kitchen oven went up like a sparkler tonight! It was crazy, I thought we were about to be in a bad spot! I was able to shut off the breaker before it got too bad. Now it looks like i'm in the market for some new kitchen gear.
  8. What a trip! We put 4k miles on a Costco rented Mini van that had 29 miles on it when we picked it up. It was an Avis rental that cost us less than $500 for 10 days. We went to Albuquerque the first night. Then to the Grand Canyon which was wayyyy more impressive than I thought it would be. It took my breath away. I was the guy that always complained that it was just a big hole in the ground. VERY IMPRESSIVE once I saw it live. We then went to Page, AZ to Lake Powell and the Grand Staircase. Then headed up to Springdale and Mt Zion. We then went up to the Ogden Valley for some snow activities for a few days. All in all it was a GREAT trip. I can't believe I waited so long to see these sites and this part of the country. It was an incredible drive and experience! Thanks for all the help!
  9. Is there a good and economic way to get HBO outside of DTVNOW? They are asking $15/mo.
  10. Great Stuff! Thank you! Now we are planning on taking 4 days to get to SLC. We are going to stop the 1st night in Albuquerque, spend the next day at the Grand Canyon (maybe stay in Flagstaff?), then 3rd day at Mt. Zion, then head to SLC on 4th day. Any thoughts or tips on this plan?
  11. We just bought a new car and we followed the last 2 lines from Horn's advice....True Car and Costco. I found buying a new car to be wayyyy easier than it used to be.
  12. I have a good buddy that went to Michigan. If she wants to contact him and get some feedback, I know he would be willing to give her some time. Let me know.

  14. Rice burner lawn mower engines or GTFO!!! But damn, that's pretty impressive. I'm impressed you took the time to check the oil!
  15. I have always heard that furniture has the highest mark up of all retail products. So not wanting to get completely screwed here, does anyone have a good approach or company to buy well build furniture at a fair price?
  16. ROAD TRIP!!! I'm thinking about packing up a car and taking the family to Utah to visit family. I know, I'm crazy. I want to build some good vacation memories and for better or worse, this is an idea that came to my head. Wife has agreed to the plan. I'm looking for any helpful advice to help do a road trip like this. Especially if you have done this trip from Texas to Utah and back. I'm thinking that renting a car might be best. Something like a minivan that gives everyone lots of room to stretch out. I figure it will take us 2 days there and 2 days back. At first glance, maybe stop in New Mexico as a half way point. Final destination will be the Salt Lake City area. Beyond, that, I'm looking for input. Thanks in advance!
  17. Yeah, the math doesn't always add up there. It's a calculated risk. Can I get to the hospital faster than an ambulance can get to me.
  18. Bet he would throw a couple dollar bills at it if he had them!
  19. I have always heard that if you play with a credit card, the credit card company will cover with insurance. Can anyone confirm or deny that? Also, doesn't your personal auto insurance transfer coverage?
  20. Damn, Heal up quick Brat. I leave nearby. If you need anyone to go feed your cat or help out, shoot me a PM and I will help out.
