  1. Did you ever explain the “child trafficking” allegation you just threw out there initially? I haven’t even seen that asserted by the WH or right wing propagandists.
  2. Cool. I was specifically replying to the last sentence of Twice’s post, giving an example of something that I think a lot of people would not ordinarily think likely to occur…since it hasn’t before. The only conflating was in your brain.
  3. On a related note, this John Oliver segment on immigration court from 7 years ago is just rage-inducing. Elementary school aged kids appearing in court with no guardian and no attorney:
  4. I have a client on an F1 student visa. He had a PENDING Class B possession of marijuana charge. He was notified last Friday that his. USA had been revoked and that he can appeal the determination in order to actually have some sort of hearing in a Federal (District, I think?) court. Not CONVICTED…just pending, which is just ridiculous.
  5. The government of El Salvador locks up people deemed to be terrorists. So, they/we called him that and so now he’s locked up forever basically. ETA: This is kinda why immigration court is important…to try and NOT send people on planes somewhere to be tortured and murdered.
  6. I mean, the DP clause says “persons” and not citizens, so it’s really not complicated. They choose not to read the worlds and admit what they mean.
  7. Because I wanted to see the freak show at fox Business trying to explain away this economic enshittening.
  8. It hit the 7% mark for the limit down futures circuit breaker huh quickly bounced back.
  9. Awesome. He’s back to the “tariff $ flowing INTO THE USA” shit, because he knows that a fuckton of Americans don’t know any better.
  10. FYI, I’ve seen several Fox News commentators laterally refer to videos of various acts of vandalism as “vicious and violent attacks”. It’s a fucking car. ETA: I’m specifically referring to vandalism of unoccupied vehicles.
  11. I think they would be subject to the blanket global 10% tariff, but yeah, nothing even remotely close to what we are doing to the EU, etc.
  12. This always cracks me up, because, as far as the actual stated purpose of tariffs, the more $ we collect simply demonstrates how those tariffs are NOT working. The purpose is to decrease import purchases, DOTARD.
  13. Yes.
  14. Edited.
  15. Episode 13 did. It disappoint. Dr. Abbott’s character and the actor’s performance has become, for some reason, my favorite currently.
  16. He might have had 2 years credit in jail already by the time he was sentenced, or close to it/
  17. That’s correct. Also, as a matter of “decency”, the past 5 or so transitions of the office have included the incoming POTUS extending that protection for adult children for 6 months, which is allowed. Trump, because he is Trump just couldn’t do that. It’s about 2 months early and the only reason to pull the details is to give his base new stuff for their spank banks.
  18. Well…yeah. He was the #1 rated passer in the country his last season here.
  19. Under their view, I guess they work since most of that shit is incorporated through the 14th DP clause which applies to persons not citizens. MAGAT’s have famously ignored thinks distinction, but I’m sure they will suddenly become a huge fan of that language.
  20. Gravell was supposed to be the top contender to replace John Carter in Tx31 next year. I wonder if he'll still run, or if this was some sort of plan to clear the field for one of Carter's grandkids or something. I’m going to assume that he’s still the next Congressional Rep from District 31.
  21. I can’t find it now but he DEFINITELY posted that if the Dow drops 1,000 in a week, the sitting President should be IMPEACHED.
  22. Define “meaningful”.
  23. What’s your take on Putin’s early claim that the invasion was needed to eliminate Nazis from Ukraine?
  24. I’m interested to see what others think about Episode 8. I found it one of the best written and directed TV episodes in a long time.
  25. The impact of the opinion matters because a rule of legal interpretation is to use the plain meaning of the text “unless doing so would lead to absurd results”. It’s a canon of construction cited frequently in legal opinions. It’s relevant because that particular consideration is useful when trying to determine legislative intent.
