  1. Jim Callis put Gilbert on his list of 10 most likely picks to be the first to the majors for this draft. https://www.mlb.com/news/2022-draft-picks-quickest-to-majors?t=mlb-draft-coverage
  2. https://www.mlb.com/video/2022-draft-day-3-recap Jim Callis called Ryan Clifford the best day 3 pick who is probably going to sign
  3. Apparently the Jackson kid is insurance in case Clifford goes to college and the Astros have a lot of pool money left over.
  4. The pool of money is front the first 10 picks. 11-20 slots are $125k this year and next year $150k. If you sign them for over $125k it comes from your 10 round pool. If you don't sign them you don't lose any pool money.
  5. Interesting comparison by MLB.com The Astros also drafted another lefty bat outfielder in the 18th round, Isaiah Jackson. His older brother is in the Dodgers organization. Here's the MLB.com info.
  6. https://www.mlb.com/news/astros-take-michael-knorr-with-first-day-2-mlb-draft-pick Good quote in there from Astros scouting director. “You definitely have some older college players throughout the game,” Gross said. “I think it’s just kind of the climate we’re in with that extra [COVID] year. Still, there was some quality depth in the mid-majors and we look to capitalize on that this year.”
  7. I have a question. Did it ever come out why the Astros didn't sign Alex Ulloa last draft?
  8. I'll have to agree to disagree with y'alls theory on the Astros draft plan but it's not a big deal.
  9. If that's their plan why would their top 2 picks last year be from HS?
  10. I would like to point you to the Angels picking 20 pitchers with their 20 picks
  11. This was supposed to say "10 non first round picks they liked." Whoops
  12. Mlb.com highlighted 10 non second round picks they liked. The Astros had one of them. No. 64: Astros: Jacob Melton, OF, Oregon State: Melton has an advanced approach and could come into above-average power. He can handle center field but also has the arm for right. (Mayo)
  13. dumb dumb Rome had a typo and of course deleted the tweet
  14. Interesting quote, seems like something Bregman would say. Hopefully he uses it to fuel his rise to the majors
  15. Tough to bet against pitchers with the Stros but I'll put my chips all in with Melton.
  16. Already in sync with the Astros social media team
  17. I'm no draft genius but Melton will be under slot as a college senior prospect right?
  18. And now they said "with the seventy two pick". Interesting choice for a rep.
  19. Yeah, I'm not saying it's a bad pick or anything. Just interesting how it happened. I think I also saw Fabian mocked to the Astros in the first.
  20. Interesting that the Stros took another lefty outfielder right before Brock Jones who was mocked to them multiple times.
  21. Brewers rep just announced that this pick was for the 2002 draft
  22. I personally say fuck all that. Let the kids play.
