  1. Because wearing body cameras might tip people off that they were cops. They were in plain clothes because they didn't want anyone, especially the people inside, to know they were cops. At least not until they got shot at, at which point the unknowing people inside "violently attacked our officers".
  2. Yup, see post 7006 above. As usual Surly is ahead of the curve on all things Corona.
  3. The part in bold is a common emotional error investors make. The past is the past. Whether you're up or down on an individual stock should have no impact on your decision to sell, hold, or buy more (unless you want to go ahead and book a loss for tax purposes). The future is all that matters. If you think CVX will outperform XOM then you should dump XOM and pick up CVX as there is no benefit to breaking even on XOM if you could have made more owning CVX. In fact, this is the perfect opportunity for you effectively do a wash sale that won't be subject to wash sale rules if you simply replace XOM with CVX in your portfolio. For the record I'm long XOM and think it will outperform CVX over the next two years. Just trying to offer some unsolicited advice without coming across like the surly asshole I am.
  4. If you think CVS is going to outperform XOM then why wait?
  5. Aggy started flirting with the SEC in 1991, if not earlier, when it was becoming clear the SWC wasn't going to last. To be fair, UT was flirting with the SEC, Pac 10, and Big 10 at the same time. Arky obviously made the first move, and Frank Broyles made it clear he wanted UT and A&M to eventually join Arky in the SEC. Any talk of Arky leaving to get away from UT is pure revisionist history. When the SWC imploded, UT's hope was to join the Pac and A&M wanted to join the SEC. Both wanted to stay together so the compromise was a marriage of convenience with the Big 8. That marriage has worked out about how you'd expect since many of the members had their eye on another partner from the beginning (CU/Pac, A&M/SEC, Mizzou/Big 10 (even though they had to settle for the SEC), UT flirting with the Pac). Not trying to derail the discussion into conference realignment. Just pointing out that none of this is new, none of it should have been a surprise, and nobody "suddenly cut bait" as described above.
  6. I haven't sensed this thread turning bullish. There are still stocks to be bought even when headed into a recession, especially in a unique circumstance like this. ZM is a prime example. They've gone from 10M daily users in December to 300M in April. Not all of those users are paying customers, but it's safe to assume a good percentage are. Would I buy it now? Maybe not, but I'm still going to hold it to see what happens next.
  7. VSTO, KR, ZM, TTWO, EA, HON, TEVA, LH, XOM, CL (fabuloso!), and CLX (though contemplating selling a portion before their earnings call on Friday - sell on the news and whatnot)
  8. Who makes the replay calls? Game should be tied
  9. Total screw job. Not even close based upon the replay they just showed. Not sure how they justify overturning that call.
  10. Due to the water main break though, right? Heard people were freaking the hell out buying palettes of water. Just a glimpse into what will happen if this thing blows up. It's both. They ran out of water yesterday due to the water main break, but also ran out of Clorox wipes due to WuFlu.
  11. Looks like Brent Z. beat Looch to the (koolaid) punch: Recruiting DBs a Fisher specialty, perhaps why Leon O’Neal is exiting Brent Zwerneman , Houston Chronicle Feb. 28, 2020 COLLEGE STATION – Safety Leon O’Neal always seemed so happy and sassy at Texas A&M, at least based on his social media posts. O’Neal announced via that platform on Thursday night that he intends to exit the Aggies, entering his junior season. “I want to thank Texas A&M for everything,” O’Neal posted to Twitter. “Every game was one I’ll never forget. Win, lose or draw, the 12th Man never lost (its) spirit. I want to thank my brothers for the love and support. Our bond will last forever. “I have now placed myself in the transfer portal.” When his football days are done, O’Neal needs to consider public relations. Talk about getting out ahead of an uncomfortable subject. The announcement came as a surprise to most outside the Bright Football Complex, but truth is third-year coach Jimbo Fisher has loaded up on defensive backs in his short time at A&M. Keeping in mind entering the NCAA transfer portal doesn’t always mean a transfer (with A&M tight end Glenn Beal as Exhibit A over the holidays). But it probably does. Since that time Fisher has hauled in a slew of highly-recruited defensive backs, including four-star signees Demani Richardson (who started in 2019), Erick Young and Brian Williams in the class of 2019, and five-star Jaylon Jones and four-stars Antonio Johnson and Joshuah Moten in the class of 2020. While some of those additions are cornerbacks, the positions have at times been interchangeable, especially if a coach is trying to get more speed on the field in situations. In addition, O’Neal was listed as a co-starter with soon-to-be-senior Keldrick Carper at the tail end of last season, and the coaches are confident Carper can spend plenty of time on the field if needed. He’s also one of the clear-cut team leaders. O’Neal, who on Feb. 21 declared “I’m the best safety in the country” via Twitter, might not have been on the field as much in 2020 with so much competition. He recruited like crazy via social media and other means to his own class and then future classes, so Aggies should appreciate those efforts no matter his destination. In the end a program will get a witty player best known for his zingers off the field, although he wound up with 55 tackles and two interceptions over two seasons.
  12. I noticed that tank is still standing. Impressive as that was a big blast. Woke up both me and Bacongirl, and hardly anything wakes her up (especially not babies crying in the night).
  13. There were zero stadium-wide Texas Fight chants done while the players were on the field. Some sections tried to start their own, but none where the cheerleaders coordinated it with their signs. Any attempts to start it were quickly extinguished by zombie nation/thunderstruck, etc. Oddly no music played a few of the times when LSU fans did their chants.
  14. This x100. Zero Texas Fight chants after kick off. Godzillatron blasted music at every opportunity. How hard can it be to coordinate the cheerleaders and chants into the overall game “entertainment” plan?
  15. *until they finally put Boone’s Farm in a can, at which point the need for white claw will cease to exist.
  16. But does Bijan understand daylight savings time vs standard time? Because his post said noon pacific standard time. Noon PST = 3:00 CDT. Just floating that out there in case 2:00 CDT comes and goes with no announcement. Cue the “daylight savings time talk not going away” post.
  17. Probably not for being considered an elite offer in recruiting, but Stanco’s the one who chose to use the term “blue blood”, not me. I agree they aren’t what they used to be and probably never will be, but they’re still a historic blue blood.
  18. What are you talking about? 247 shows offers from 5/8 of the blue bloods (USC, Michigan, Ohio State, Nebraska, and Texas). He also has offers from LSU, UCLA, and Washington. I get he’s a 3 star but plenty of quality schools offered him.
  19. Right - that’s why it’s such a joke. Their schedule clearly isn’t “full” for the next 10 years, yet that’s the way they describe it. They won’t publicly admit they refuse to schedule more than one decent team per year and that they’re only interested in scheduling cupcakes for the 11 openings they have in their schedule betwjeen now and 2025.
  20. Yup. They have an opening as soon as 2021; two openings in 2022 and 2023; three openings in 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027.... aggy future non-conference schedules
  21. Doubt Iowa State is one of them - theirs has to be Iowa. Doubt WV would name us either. Old SWC teams are more likely (Houston, Rice, SMU). How many do you think named A&M? My guess is zero.
  22. Look no further than Alabama’s claim to the 1941 title when they finished 20th in the AP, 3rd is the SEC, and got shut out by Vanderbilt and Mississippi State.
