  1. There are two kinds of wastewater operators in this world: those who have been "baptized", and those who will be. He's got his baptism behind him. You'll really need to watch out for him if he realizes that it isn't the end of the world and he loses the ick response.
  2. Since my retirement I have learned the deep truth of this.
  3. For comparison, in September we drove up to Springfield, spent nine days visiting, and drove back in about the same time that the package was in Houston. Black hole, indeed.
  4. I had a co-worker who is a Vietnam vet. He was shot twice and stabbed once while there. He had a shingles episode that he said hurt worse than all three wounds combined. That episode nearly blinded his left eye. The doctors were worried that the virus would travel up his optic nerve into his brain and cause damage there, but it did not, thank God. We, of course, told him that anyone who got wounded three times couldn't possibly have a brain, so he was in no danger there.
  5. My daughter mailed a package to us on December 27 at Springfield, OR. According to USPS tracking, it arrived at the North Houston distribution center, about an hour's drive from me, 3 days, 7 hours after she mailed it. The package just arrived at my doorstep, 17 days, 18 hours after getting to Houston. Absolutely ridiculous.
  6. "Guys, you have worked your asses off and sacrificed for our team. You have seen how your work and sacrifice got us into position to win a national title. I appreciate your hard work, and love each and every one of you, and our time together. I now have an amazing opportunity to coach at a legendary school with high expectations. It will be a huge challenge, and I couldn't pass on such a chance. I trust that the university will hire an outstanding coach to lead you in your future efforts. I wish you all the best in life, and hope that each of you succeeds beyond your wildest dreams, in all of your endeavors." How hard is that? Basic Leadership 101 stuff.
  7. This would be great. If he does as well there as he did at aggy, tOSU is screwed Bjorked. If he has some success there, it shows that aggy's problems are systemic and won't get fixed by one or two hires. Come on, Ohio State, hire him!
  8. Think how tall you'd be if so much wasn't turned under.
  9. Where was Big John? Not there, that's for sure.
  10. Maybe this isn't as isolated as we would like to believe. How many people are listed as missing but have been buried in a pauper's grave and no one notified because it would embarrass someone, or the authorities were too lazy to notify next of kin? I understand John Does happen all the time, but this makes me wonder how many are really unidentified. Obviously it's not that hard to get away with it.
  11. I love how the wheel rolls up for one last "fuck you".
  12. The perfect amount of peanut butter melting into a hot, freshly toasted English muffin as you spread the peanut butter in a perfect thickness over the surface of the muffin. I rarely hit it just right, but when I do, ahh.
  13. There are millions of rockhounds all over the world, with clubs, websites, the works. Other than dogs, have you ever heard of even one stickhound? No you haven't! The perfect rock wins. Getting rockhounds to agree on the perfect rock, however...
  14. Some Russkies are going to get shot from the sky, bombed to shit, or both by that good looking woman, and I fully support that.
  15. This makes more sense when you consider that for many of the respondents Trump is their god.
  16. That's going to be a hell of a reef someday.
  17. That's why that chain is on the hand truck, dumbass. Chain it up and you won't get a mouthful of compressed gas tank. That reminded me of a story a former co-worker told me years ago. He was working on a rig off the Louisiana coast, and oxygen and acetylene tanks stared disappearing. No one could figure out why until late one night a guy just happened to be looking the right way to see something shoot off the side of the rig into the darkness. He told his supervisor what he saw and they went to investigate. They found out that a guy had welded two pipes to a rail, pointed out away from the rig, in such a way that he could push a tank up onto the pipes. He would put a tank on this makeshift launcher, with the bottom of the tank pointed out to sea, and knock the valve off the tank with a hammer. The tank would then take off, like in the video above. This greatly entertained the knucklehead, until he was caught. A boat brought some more tanks the next day, and the knucklehead got to ride back on the boat to where the appropriate parish sheriff arrested him for criminal mischief. I guess it was fun while it lasted.
  18. Damn, FSU! It looks like the committee was right. Anyone who watched the ACC and SEC title games saw this coming a mile away.
  19. If there's going to be a bowl game in Austin, it has to be The Franklin's Brisket Bowl. There's some sort of weird law that requires it.
  20. A set of six Craftsman battery powered hand tools with batteries and accessories, a case for my chainsaw, chainsaw safety equipment (chaps, gloves, hard hat, eye and ear protection), and a TPWD gift card so that we can get a one year parks pass for my wife and me.
