  1. Go the middle way: take them prisoner, treat them in accordance with the Geneva Conventions, move them to safer areas of Ukraine. And keep them unti every Russian and collaborator is out of Ukraine, and the victory is complete. If prisoner exchanges can happen, exchange the least combat capable prisoners. This establishes and reinforces Ukrainian humanity, and denies Russia trained veterans to put back in the lines. Either that, or Mao's way: take them prisoner, feed them and treat them well, record their identities, and give them a short instruction on what Ukraine is fighting for. Then release them with the warning that they would be shot if they were captured again. That may only work in a civil war, but this may be culturally close enough to a civil war for it to work.
  2. Got home from running errands about an hour ago and found about 0.03 inch of rain in my gauge. Not even enough to cool things off, and everything is already dry as a bone, but every 0.01 inch is something.
  3. That is what we are saying, but I would bet that we have a supply of ATACMS ammo set aside and ready to transfer to Ukraine when the moment is right. There is a reason that Russia has pulled much of their Black Sea fleet from Sevastopol to Rostov and has increased their defensive measures for the Kerch bridges. It's not like Ukraine has a lot of naval assets capable of offensive operations against these installations, so there's something else that Russia is worried about.
  4. Is there a Ukrainian equivalent of El Deguello? If so, it looks like some Russians are going to hear it soon.
  5. I wish my wife understood this. That and the fact that she doesn't need to be speaking every second that she's not reading. I just want some quiet. How hard is that?
  6. I haven't had any rebound problems five days after finishing it. For me the worst side effects were a bad metallic taste in my mouth and some dizziness toward the end. The dizziness got kind of cool, though, when I found out that I could lean out forward a little bit and feel like I was flying. I hope that you recover completely and rapidly from all of your maladies.
  7. Have you seen your doctor and asked about paxlovid? It really helped me.
  8. So when they pull it out to use it, that equipment will glow in the dark, making them an easier target for HIMARS. Nice.
  9. I like the 30mm gun on the A-10, but with the Russian AA systems and MANPADS, it would be costly to get into range to use it, or Maverick missiles for that matter. Where I think the Warthog could help is in suppression of air defense systems, if it can carry HARMs. I am not familiar enough with the load out of the A-10 to know if that is even possible. Ukraine needs some Wild Weasels to knock down the Russian SAM systems. That would be a good start toward air superiority, if not supremacy.
  10. It's the money. This is Texas, where only fossil fuels are acceptable to "right minded people". Anything else threatens their income, whether from their jobs or leases.
  11. This. The rolling stock is always the priority. Track is easy to repair. Bridges can be rebuilt with more difficulty, but still not too hard to repair or replace. But rolling stock, especially locomotives, take time and resources to rebuild and get to where they are needed. Replacing stock also competes directly with replacing armor and transport trucks for resources. Set up a choke point at the bridge, shut it down with a missile strike, then rain missiles and artillery on the backed up trains and the personnel trying to unfuck the situation.
  12. Ten days in and I feel good in general, but I'm tired all the time, and moving around even a little bit, like watering trees, exhausts me. You Covid veterans, please tell me that the fatigue goes away. Ironically enough, I got a text for my fourth Texas Cares blood draw the same day I tested positive. I'll go by there next Monday or Tuesday.
  13. I like to think it does, but others may disagree.
  14. I work at a wastewater treatment plant. If you get any of our product, it is indirectly, and has been further treated by others to meet safe drinking water standards.
  15. I overheard two coworkers completely seriously discussing how China is inflicting this heatwave on the world. They don't know how they Chicoms are doing it, but they are absolutely convinced that the evil Chinese are to blame. Idiots.
  16. Don't flush those goddamn wipes! They do not belong in a sewer system.
  17. That sounds hellish, indeed. Hopefully it will not happen again.
  18. Congratulations, Vic. I wish many happy years for you and your bride. I also await your additions in the wive's thread.
  19. Dick Hickey. What a way to let the world know that your wife really can suck a golf ball up a garden hose. Between that and the reward, widow Hickey must have been popular with the gentlemen.
  20. I rag on cops, but that one kept his cool, did his job, and left, all while having to listen to that. Have a good day, officer. Can you imagine being that asshole's neighbor?
  21. Someone is going to call them, bet on it. When they arrive, guarantee that their first action will be to protect their turf. They did at Uvalde by detaining the one woman and pushing the agry citizens back. Cops cannot abide competition or outside direction. This could work.
  22. The cops would react more strongly to the response team than to the shooter. Cops cannot tolerate the thought of someone cutting in on their territory, especially if they might show up the cops.
