  1. I saw a picture of one of the RNC attendees like this on the news the other night. The TV was muted, so I got the picture out of context at first. My first thought was, "Why does that dude have a teabag taped to his ear?" Took me a bit to realize the cult connection.
  2. Or their turrets removed and used as ersatz armored infantry transports.
  3. Before the 2011 game an aggy former coworker was telling me that the crowd noise would disrupt Texas' play calls and timing. When I pointed out that my high school football team had worked out how to overcome crowd noise in the 70s, he shifted his story. He said that the overwhelming noise from the crowd struck actual fear into the hearts of opponents, and that it made visiting players envious that they didn't have such an awesome home crowd. I just had to laugh, which wasn't appreciated.
  4. I think that hitting Chernobyl would cause enough radiation leakage that Europe would have to respond militarily. That would be very counterproductive for everyone.
  5. Might have been rude of her, but now we'll never know. Way to go, Romeo.
  6. Military and LEO snipers are trained to only shoot when they have a clear identification of the target and are certain that the target must be neutralized. If the local LEOs were responsible for that particular rooftop the SS snipers would have to ensure that the shooter was not a local LEO and that he was an actual threat. That takes time and judgment, and usually confirmation. It seems to me that once the shooter drew down on the LEO who climbed the ladder, the SS snipers assessed the threat and got lead on target as quickly as possible. The shooter was just able to roll back over and fire at Trump two or three times before the snipers got their rounds off. The rooftop should have had a law enforcement presence on it in the first place. That's where I think the failure lies, not with the speed of the snipers.
  7. Bitch, you're just mad because the dog you starved and abused then let off the chain hoping it would attack the neighbors bit you instead. Shut up.
  8. Strong username to post correlation.
  9. I have somehow become allergic to the adhesive on HEB brand band aids. I have two places on my left arm that are swollen and itch like hell where I put band aids over minor wounds that wouldn't stop bleeding. I haven't had band aids on those areas for four days and they still itch. I have to use Curad or Band-Aid brand now and pay twice as much. Dammit.
  10. Both. I haven't walked less than 24 inches past the back of a truck in 40 or more years. Just assume that the hitch is there, waiting to maul your leg like a shark at South Padre.
  11. Fuck you, too, Buddy. I had to get my wife to read that to me. I am seriously red/green colorblind.
  12. She was. She never let someone be a stranger for more than five seconds, and she took no shit from anyone. God, I miss her.
  13. My mom had to use a talker like that due to laryngeal cancer. One day when we were down at MD Anderson for a radiation treatment we went down to the cafeteria for lunch. There was a little girl about 5 years old in line behind us with her mom. She heard my mom say something to me and her eyes got huge and she gasped audibly. Then she turned to her mom and in that 5 year old "whisper" said, "Momma! That lady's a robot!" My mom humored her by acting like a robot the rest of the time we were in line. Later, she saw my mom eat some food and freaked out about the robot being able to eat. It was cute, and funny, as hell.
  14. I'm burning post oak in my offset turning spare ribs and top loin into delicious smoked meats and making my neighborhood smell like Lockhart. Happy Birthday, America. I love you, warts and all.
  15. The Windows sound on those always gets me.
  16. We each have our own tastes. I know several people who don't like green chiles.
  17. Having the perfect onion on your cheeseburger. Not sweet, not too mild, and not too hot. It just fits in with the mustard and pickles to bring the perfect spice to the whole burger. Sublime.
  18. I wonder how many questions he'll get in his press conference about burner phones, recruiting for Texas, and when he knew that he was going to Texas. You know that the texags "journalists" are dieing to ask those questions.
  19. No, just doing yard work around the house today. Just brutally hot, and I'm not 19 anymore.
  20. Working in this heat is kicking my ass. I was an out of shape office pogue for way too long.
  21. The city from which I retired last year has everyone working a summer flex schedule of four 10 hour days per week this summer. The exception is holidays. Weeks with holidays are four 8 hour days and a 8 hour holiday. So this year everyone is getting screwed out of a four day weekend AND the supervisors still have to figure out how to cover 24/7/365 operations with split schedules. Glad that's not me.
  22. I hope that UW makes a better hire than aggy just to see texags explode with excuses and rationalizations.
