  1. This song and this dance go together in an oddly beautiful way
  2. Meh. Anytime you are around sergeants vying for limited higher rank, it turns into Sensitivity and Resentment Night at the wine bar. If you've made it to E-7 or E-8, you've thrown a few elbows and made a few sullen conniving enemies. And if you don't suck, you've probably pissed off a few officers who thought they were perfect too. Especially in the National Guard where it can turn into a soap opera with guys knowing shit on each other from high school, work, or just being stuck in the same unit too long.
  3. It's not even a fucking train. It's a bunch of goobs tooling around in the banks' trucks.
  4. Must take you forever to cross the country on a bulldozer.
  5. My best trick was to be all self-deprecating when facing a new opponent, but when they said "fence" I'd sorta leap through the air and stab em in the face.
  6. I was about the 5th rated fencer at my club for a while, if some of the really good guys stayed home.
  7. Before the war, I bet lots of Ukrainians had driven through adjacent parts of Russia, or maybe even lived there. PS: that destroyed column was described as "infantry", but they and the drivers could have been "any specialty including clerks n jerks that were told to get in the trucks." May have just been sitting ducks whether they made it to the front or not.
  8. Honestly I haven't thought about metals since the prices shot up. I am under spousal orders not to sell, and I think there's too much chance it'll go down again to buy.
  9. Wouldn't surprise me if whoever is in charge of the Russian counterattacks in Kursk has been told that their non-falling-out-of-window future depends on getting numbers to the front, period. Forget recon, security, plans, coordination, communication, reserves, any of that. Or even if they wanted to do any of that, their troops aren't trained to do it.
  10. I arch an eyebrow. If they aren't fencing epée, they are merely peasants sweating in the fields.
  11. 1. Congrats to the Mississippi Authorities for bringing him in even after he fled to his underwater lair. 2. Moley-moley mole mole mole.
  12. Speaking of which, I reckon in Kursk we are seeing Ukraine's best-trained troops against Russia's conscripts. Maybe the Akhmat boys will shoot a front-line TikTok, or Putin sends in a few of his Palace Guard. I doubt either of those have any combined arms experience either.
  13. True. But seeing as how they're not Russians, there's a good chance they thought about that, and made plans for it.
  14. My lifetime of training with Hot Wheels and Legos tells me that when that truck hits the gas it's gonna be Fun Times for Lawn Chair Boy's orthodonture.
  15. "We followed the rules and married someone we didn't love, why can't they."
  16. "Shut the fuck up Donnie." "You're like a child, Donnie." repeat as needed
  17. Well, they're not going to attack Ukraine now either.
  18. To bring it back on topic, I think I got it from wearing wet boots for a week in a monsooned-out Guard drill. At one point we were camped on top of our M113s trying to dry our rotting chigger-motel bodies in an hour of sunshine. Back to thread: Who thinks A. Ukrainians pull back bc it was basically a raid B. Ukrainians will let Russians assemble to counterattack, then blow in from both flanks with more stuff to encircle them C. Ukrainians will hold center, and attack on the left to overrun Belarus D. Something else (say what it is)
