  1. That's when you climb up inside the drop ceiling and see who else is up there.
  2. I just checked with your nurse and doctor, and they confessed that they were in the back room watching reruns of Lassie. The good ones, not the trashy second season.
  3. I always assumed it had something to do with that sick motherfucker in the next room.
  4. Woodfin's a badass. Before him it was rot all the way down, like using the back of a leper's neck for nacho dip. Woodfin came in like the humble hero of a Kung-Fu movie, with all the old interests circling around, gesticulating and attacking him one by one.
  5. Say what you will about the tenets of the French consumer, but they'd burn those Amazon-owned health centers to the ground.
  6. We emptied the phaser banks, but they kept coming.
  7. Carry one coin, for yourself. After you let your wife and kids shit themselves, they will start carrying their own coins and your life will be better.
  8. Ok, this isn't for Klan-Boy. It's for the Nazis next to him. Both for the neo-Nazis and the original Brownshirts. One day you decided to become a Nazi. That's bad enough. But what compels you to adopt the short-sleeved shirt and the cheap little tie? Are you Master Race, or the guy who fixes the copier? Are you a Terror to the Comintern, or are you the Wendy's manager? Are you a World Conqueror, or the security guard? I mean, you've already got Hugo Boss designs RIGHT THERE, meant for you. But you know you can't pull it off. How much do I owe you for parking here?
  9. I am the last guy to ask about GLD, etfs, paper gold, or anything other than actual jewelry, ingots, or coins. (Most of my savings are in stocks for big blue-chip companies that have nothing to do with shiny metal.) As for supply of actual gold the mineral, don't we get a lot (most?) of it as a by-product of large mining operations for other minerals? I mean sure there are dudes in the jungle dumping cyanide everywhere while they specifically mine gold, and of course there are the almost Oak-Island-ish videos of dudes starting up a gold mine in Alaska or panning in a river, but their profit appears to come from "mining" the attention of viewers plus maybe selling some gear. Me if I want to get cold and wet, I'll just go kayaking. But if you want to talk about hiking through South America 100 years ago with Sovereigns sewn inside your clothes, those are the things I like to read about.
  10. Do what a Spanish dad would do, ditch the kid, he'll be fine, hit on tourists, crash at your mistress' apartment after long begging argument to be allowed back in, repeat. Also, Avila, Segovia, Salamanca, El Escorial. They are to the north and north west where your nearest mountain range is. You actually cross mountains to get to those three towns from Madrid. Hell you could have fun for a couple of days just riding the subway around Madrid and popping up at various stations Plaza del Sol and Plaza Mayor for just lurking.
  11. I got to see William F. Buckley in person as a much younger Canecutter. Couldn't stop imitating him for at least a month, hmmm haha.
  12. Whattaya reckon the leaders have already scooted out somehow?
  13. You're onto something with how expectations have bloated up for the "same" things. In grad school at Texas I rented a room in a 1940s house near campus. (OF COURSE it's gone and underneath foo-foo shit now.) You may know that grad students don't get paid much and that they are traditionally expected to be depressed about it. But one day I'm sitting in my 1940s room, wondering what 1940s people did, and it occurs to me that I have everything for a 1940s middle class life: cook some food on the stove, read a book from a great library, catch a bus, do my job, hang out with friends in the back yard with beer somebody scrounged up. Also I was banging my mid-20s girlfriend on the reg or just noodling around on the acoustic guitar, maybe riding my bicycle if I got bored. The kind of shit people jet off to Costa Rica to do. Later I worked in Mexico for less money but overall better lifestyle. Mexico made me think of how my parents grew up in the USA, maybe similar material culture but still plenty of cool stuff to do for not much $.
  14. Why do you hate convenience fees. We are here to help you. That'll be 12.99 plus our convenient Payment Acceptance Fee.
  15. How much does it cost to get a cheap blender and chuck some ice cream in it?
  16. It's considered common knowledge that when you venture into a town where the buildings touch, that Huggy Bear will sidle up and talk to you in jive while his compatriots pick your pocket and give your children free samples of loco weed. Best to stay out on the edge of things like Daniel Boone, if Boone circled the Sam's Club parking lot looking for a space near the door.
  17. Tommy might already know that. Might be why he stays in Florida.
