  1. Elliott needs to let Logan gain experience in the back row by letting her play there instead of Rounsaville. And Jhenna needs to play in Hahn’s spot. Neither of those DS’s are putting up decent dig numbers or passing consistently enough to be in the starting lineup IMO. I really want to like Shook but she is the weakest setter on a top 10 team. Her out-of-system setting needs lots of work. Unfortunately, we have no other options at that position...unless Elliott decides to pick up a transfer setter in the off-season.
  2. Would both Fields and Phillips be willing to red-shirt next season? Micaya, Logan, and Kat are going to be lethal at the pins next season with another year of experience under their belts. But would the #1 recruit want to ride the pine? I think maybe if Elliott can convince her to focus an entire year on her passing (which is her weakest skill). And I presume Molly would RS as well, but may not see any meaningful playing time until her Jr year when Butler will have graduated .
  3. Skylar Field is ranked the #1 player in the country for the class of 2019. Logan would have probably benn ranked #1 if she didn't reclassify. Molly Phillips came in at #16, but most believe she is the best MB in the class.
  4. General admission tickets are still available on-line at Texassports.com. There will probably also be ticket scalpers outside the gym.
  5. Yes, 3-0

  7. Addition by subtraction with Lexi...if she and her dad were that much of problem last year, glad they are gone! Logan stepped up with her serving and was swinging more freely by the end of the match. Kat is a smart hitter as is Micaya. Morgan and Brionne are just going to get better with their blocking. Shook...she had moments where I saw improvement, but last year's version crept up during the match. Unfortunately, we are going to live or die by her setting...
  8. Fuck yeah! Way to go Ladies!
  9. Stupid freshman mistakes! C'mon Jhenna, can't let a free ball fall to the floor
  10. WTF? Claire can't serve it in....Autumn can't pass....that's your fucking job. And Riley can't serve it in..
  11. Claire and Autumn can't read the hitters worth shit. I'd rather have Jhenna back there than either one of them.
  12. Shook's sets are all over the place. And she's going to Kat too much IMO
  13. Logan needs to get out of her funk
  14. Fuck yeah Brionne! Solo block against the 6'7 tree.
  15. Score is now on the feed. Micaya being targeted on serve-receive and not handling it well. TO TX.
  16. Live stream at Huskers.com
  17. It'd be nice to see us come out with a win against FL. Morgan and Brionne are going to need to step up their blocking against FL's hitters.
  18. I really thought a lot of her poor setting was due to the piss-poor passing.... I don't think Shook was able to put up consistent out-of-system balls to the left pin because the passes were soooo far off the net. Shook eventually developed a good connection with Chiaka, but I think a lot of it had to do with Chi being so athletic and able to adjust to her sets. Right pin setting was always a struggle...Ebony needed a particular set to actually do damage to the ball...Yaazie did as well....and the constant switching of those 2 players in the beginning of the season never allowed her to develop a good connection with either IMO. We will find of out soon whether it's better passing that improves her setting or if it's a year of experience....or hopefully both.
  19. I mean, it has to, right?
  20. Another new recruit on board for this season ... 6'2 Opp Katarina Luketic from Croatia. Should be interesting to see how the line-up plays out... I just want ball control and serving to be improved this year!
  21. If Logan didn't reclassify, the 2019 class would have definitely been ranked #1. Molly Phillips will be a blocking machine...she will remind fans of Molly McCage. Phillips has played every position in the front row and has even passed the ball in serve-receive in both HS/Club ball. It will be interesting to see how she gets worked into the line-up with both Butler and O'Neal in front of her. But I can see Phillips red-shirting her freshman year (2019) and then having the options to play Butler, O'Neal, and Phillips at MBs/Opp in 2020. Skylar Fields (aka Baby Destinee Hooker) will be a high-flying attacker/blocker on the pins. I think she will slide into Yaazie's position on the right pin next year (since Micaya and Logan will be the left pin hitters). Skylar looks more comfortable hitting on the LS, but she is developing nicely into an Opp with USA volleyball. Both Skylar and Molly will both be coming in as good servers. Logan may eventually develop into one of the best 6-rotation players under Elliott. If she has a weakness right now, I would say it is her blocking. But we really do need her on the team this year. She's going to add the ball control and serving the team was missing last year IMO. Team serving will also be upgraded with Jhenna and Sydney's serves. I foresee Jhenna and Sydney playing ahead of Rounsaville and Hahn this season. I'm really looking forward to seeing this team play in the fall.
  22. Nebraska wanted to open up the season against Texas in the Vert Challenge in Lincoln this year, but Elliott requested to play Florida and Oregon even though the home team has preference to which teams they would like to play. It may not be until Big 12 conference play before we see this team running on all cylinders since we will be breaking in a freshman OH (Logan), a RS-Fr MB (Brionne), and a new libero (anyone but Autumn). If we do play Nebraska next season, the strategy should be to target Sun on serve-receive and to hit at her if she is playing in the back row... I just don't think her ball control will improve that much even at Nebraska.
  23. Yep, Skylar is still committed for the ‘19 class along with 6’4 MB Molly Phillips. I meant to say that Logan Eggleston was part of the ‘19 class but is now part of the ‘18 class with Asjia O'Neal, Sydney Petersen, and Jhenna Gabriel.
  24. Boom! And now we have our 6-rotation OH for the upcoming season... welcome Logan Eggleston! Logan was originally a 2018 recruit, but started taking on-line courses in April to graduate high school this month. https://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/high-school/2018/05/07/logan-eggleston-texas-longhorns-brentwood-volleyball/589141002/ Logan has been part of the USA Youth National Team the past 2 years and was the primary 6-rotation, ball-control OH. Although she may not be the offensive threat that Lexi Sun provided, Logan will already be coming in with the ball control that Texas needs with its plethora of hitters. She is a true 6 rotation OH and will start Day 1. With Logan's arrival, Yaazie can now go back to her natural position on the right side and Brionne can stay at MB. Micaya and Logan will play all 6 rotations and will open up the offense with their ability to attack from the back row. And hopefully, we'll be able to see what Ashley can really do with better ball control if either of the new recruits can step in and perform like Cat McCoy did her Freshman year. The fall line-up should look like: OH1- Micaya OH2- Logan MB1 - Morgan MB2- Brionne Opp - Yaazie Setter - Ashley Libero - To be determined
