  1. Maddening. If it's your own family, you can allow complacency to kick in and make the decision that it's "just another alert on the river". You don't get that luxury when you're responsible for hundreds of other people's kids.
  2. If absolutely nothing else, sirens wake everyone the hell up and are a blaring declaration that this isn't just another flash flood warning on your cell phone (for those that have them) that probably doesn't directly affect you. It screams local. At minimum, it gets people moving, gets eyes on the river, with precautionary measures being taken. There's no world that sirens wouldn't have saved dozens of lives.
  3. What point do you think you're making here?
  4. I get that it seems like nothing matters anymore, and norms and precedents don't exist or are for losers, but a President's administration unilaterally deciding to release names and evidence from an ongoing, unresolved investigation didn't used to be a thing. It's not legal, in fact. Even if it could hurt your political rivals.
  5. Right wing comedy at its finest!
  6. Your friends are liars. They'd vote for a convicted pedophile Trump over a radical left Marxist socialist communist. They'd just scrunch their nose a bit to feel okay about it. For the good of the country, after all.
  7. The mental gymnastics here. Wow.
  8. Some people really like thumbs.
  9. While this is "fun" (as fun as a sitting POTUS all but admitting he's a pedophile can be) and will certainly have more staying power than the usual Trump crime/cover-up, anyone thinking that this is what breaks MAGA and finally turns the tide against him is crazy. Fox and regime-friendly podcasters are struggling to find their footing at the moment, but give them a couple weeks to figure out their talking points, and everyone will be back on program.
  10. A lot to unpack with this one.
  11. Steve Kerr: having personal vendettas against young players, then trading them way past their peak worth since 2014.
  12. Not trying to make this specific to Kerrville, but most people in most towns get along perfectly well face to face. Then they go home and rant to their spouses about how you, or people or look, think, or choose sexual partners like you, are what's wrong with the country.
  13. I'm absolutely guilty of this. I don't watch college basketball anymore save for bouncing around the competitive tournament games for a couple of weekends a year, so it's hard not to be a little skeptical. It's been a long ass time since the NBA has had all All-NBA caliber American white dude. You have to go back to Minnesota Kevin Love. Before him, all the way back to John Stockton and Mark Price. Even if you lump Steve Nash with them, that's a lot of under-the-rim, "coach on the floor" type skill sets. Gordon Hayward's best year was 22, 5, and 4.
  14. The whereabouts of the FEMA director after a week has passed isn't on topic?
  15. Shut the fuck up, Mark.
  16. As someone who completely cut off the ESPN teat (F1 app), I applaud this move. Though, it has come to my attention that some people root for college football teams that are worth watching more than twice a season and may not share my opinion.
  17. Exposed...and then (likely) forgotten and unchanged.
  18. After all these years, I'm still fascinated that he thinks this kind of shit helps his immediate situation or his reputation, rather than just making him look bitch made. Windhorst+Shelburne basically means this came straight out of Bron's mouth. Bruh, you're 40 years old, making $60M per, and they drafted your son for you. What else do you want? The ONLY chance you have at another ring is Luka coming in to camp in the best shape of his life and carrying the team on his back, letting you pick your moments.
  19. Arguing that we shouldn't give humanitarian aid to bad actor countries (hey, don't worry, we're not anymore) if they don't stop committing atrocities is certainly a take.
  20. Jesus fuck. The standard is Russia, China, and Yemen don't get to be our allies that we supply with more weapons than they know what to do with, and the military spends countless hours war gaming possible scenarios with them if they overstep. Is this a bit? Now, if you want to criticize our problematic relationship with Saudi Arabia, by all means.
  21. The person who wrote that doesn't actually believe it for one second (assuming he's ever been in a single corporate meeting), and he doesn't give a fuck.
  22. Just so we're all clear, we're at the "why is Israel held to a higher standard than Syria, Sudan, and Yemen?" phase of the discussion. And soccer spray dude wants to be taken seriously.
  23. People fucking suck.
  24. How many of those other countries does the United States directly supply with arms and munitions and deploy B-2's on their enemies when they ask us nicely?
