  1. He has .774 OPS for the year combined with Colorado. Compared to most of the trash at the bottom of our 40 man - that looks like Lou Gehrig.
  2. I’m always amazed at Vegas strip casino table minimums now.
  3. He would be insurance for Brantley but I wouldn’t want to give up on Meyers to do it. It doesn’t look like there’s room on the 26 man roster.
  4. That’s a great question - Who will play the Derek Fisher role in this years playoff run?
  5. If Julks was still on the 26 man, we should have absolutely picked up Grichuk.
  6. So who’s ready to offer Brantley 2 years at $40 million?
  7. You’re assuming JV loses his personal catcher in the playoffs. I guess between the 2 of them it likely makes more sense to let Framber keep Linus’ security blanket as compared to JV.
  8. It was one game and he didn’t even get a hit. Let’s not start patting ourselves on the back just yet.
  9. Josh Miller just made the list. What a moron? Can’t measure it - it’s called Catcher ERA.
  10. He made a nice leap this year. Great looking deer!
  11. Maldy giving the Hook ‘em to his fans at Surly as he crosses home plate.
  12. Is this the most “unclutch” Astros defense ever?
  13. I will give Dusty a hearty Thank you when he retires at the end of this season.
  14. It appears that Harold may have dropped 2 inches of rain on my place. Maybe something other than the Mesquites will be green.
  15. He’s clearly a moron. Winning brings in fans and results in increased revenues. It additionally provides opportunities to raise prices on everything with limited bitching.
  16. He’s an incredible deer. In one sit, he was 20 yards from me in my bow blind. It was really cool to see him up close and personal. I think he injured one side of his antlers in velvet the prior season which is why I didn’t have at least one year of history before 2022. I should also mention that I’m trying to get the trophy deer on my place to 7 years old. So, if he was 5 last year, I’m hoping for another couple of years of growth. I’m working toward a 200 inch deer one day. We’ve come close but haven’t broken that barrier yet.
  17. A couple of thoughts on this: 1. completely agree that the approach being taken by Red states in higher Ed makes no sense. Investing in higher ed brings others to invest in your state as companies want to hire educated employees, etc. 2. On disclosure - maybe the issue isn’t disclosing the costs but the student’s expected earnings after graduating with your anticipated degree? I keep seeing anecdotes about kids getting private university degrees with significant debts in careers which can’t generate the income needed to ever repay it. The costs and the benefits ultimately need to be understood. 3. On costs, I agree that certainly inflation should be expected but why should higher Ed costs inflate more significantly than other costs in our economy. I don’t think there is one item like admin costs as it’s a multitude of items that have created the inflation. 4. The parent of any child who believes they are repaying their student loans with influencer money has failed. I had the benefit of parents who stressed the importance of taking costs into account in my college choice. That ultimately lead me to a great education at UT for a great price. 5. With respect to interest, that’s an interesting thought as if the loans are Gov’t loans, the US doesn’t need to make a profit there. It could view that as an investment in our future economy.
  18. It has to be his mechanics. His fastball doesn’t have that deceptive lack of drop anymore. Its the same with Framber. We’ve been talking about Framber not throwing his sinker too hard since the opener as it eliminates the late movement on the pitch. He’s still throwing it too hard. I don’t know why we have coaches because I don’t think they do anything. They’ve had all year to prep Diaz for where to cutoff throws from the outfield at 1B, but he still doesn’t know.
  19. The only item that I dislike about the current student loan forgiveness plan is that it does nothing to fix the problem going forward. For the borrowers impacted, it will certainly be beneficial and should provide some amount of economic stimulus. All of the other issues with education discussed today (excessive cost, lack of govt support, lack of disclosures to student about the actual cost and ability to repay said loans, predatory for-profit institutions, etc.) are kicked down the road for the next group of borrowers. Unfortunately today’s climate prevents people in government from actually working to find a solution.
  20. Watched Heart of Stone last night. I was entertained. It was over-the-top action for 2 hours.
