  1. That Rose Bowl is easily a top 5 moment in my life. After the game, I ended up running into Marcus Allen and got a congratulations. I will go to my grave knowing that VY was the GOAT.
  2. And then they tried to claim credit for it on Twitter
  3. I don’t think of Medicare being used by working people. After posting my random thoughts, I read an article on Forbes that mentioned the comparison to Medicare Advantage plans which contain these benefits. This would make traditional Medicare more competitive with those plans which could be a benefit. Ultimately it would likely result in premium increases for the beneficiaries.
  4. To move this back to policy, someone sell me on why Medicare should cover vision, dental and hearing. Is it worth the cost or should it be on the chopping block?
  5. When you say “reconciliation text”, are you referring to the reconciliation instructions or alternatively the actual legislative text of the bill with all of the spending and tax changes? Also, how do you think the progressive caucus in the House reacts when Manchin, etc. strip down some of the social programs and related tax changes?
  6. I’m still not certain they can pass either the infrastructure or reconciliation bill. The House and Senate are both playing chicken right now with the House being unwilling to take up the infrastructure bill until the Senate passes reconciliation instructions. Sinema is publicly complaining that $3.5 trillion is too much. Also, they will have to increase the debt ceiling at the same time.
  7. Greg Abbott puts children at risk to help him win the Republican primary. It’s that simple. He cares more about being Governor than Texas school children. How morally bankrupt can one individual be?
  8. The no vaccine passports really pisses me off. If a private business wants to only allow vaccinated people in, then I support their right to do that. I would definitely support that business. The Republican Party likes to talk about personal responsibility, but personal responsibility only exists when it negatively impacts poor and/or non-whites. I support an individual’s choice to not get vaccinated. However, that choice carries consequences. They should be forced to bear the consequences of that choice - lost jobs, no ability to travel via air/public transportation, increased medical costs, etc. That’s the essence of personal responsibility. Fuck these stupid assholes who continue to support these ridiculous politicians.
  9. It’s really unbelievable. Even if we need boosters every six months, it’s 2 shots a year and things could return to normal. People are really stupid.
  10. So, how worried do I need to be about Delta? Entire family is vaccinated and my vaccinated 80 year old FIL cancer survivor lives with us. Prior to this latest flare up, we had returned to normal as I was going back to the office most days, having lunches and dinners with clients and colleagues and not wearing a mask anywhere. I’m starting to worry that I need to shut things back down again. I’ve started masking up in common spaces at the office and will go back to only getting groceries via curbside. Eating at restaurants is likely out as well. What’s the latest in breakthrough infections in the not so healthy elderly?
  11. At least he didn’t shoot him - Progress?
  12. I took this story as a positive. I assumed Hobby Lobby bought the tablet to burn it as it didn’t confirm the Earth was 5000 years old.
  13. These are the type of feet you generally see in babies born in an asylum.
  14. Also close to 50% of the conference being small private schools isn’t a recipe for success.
  15. If SMU didn’t keep paying, who was going to keep the 5 hookers that CJ killed quiet? Also we should give TCU some share of the credit. They tried to get into the bagman game in a big way.
  16. Will we see the return of SpiderAg?
  17. Watching Nolan walk off the Erwin Center court that day and then returning was a terrible day. Angriest I have ever been at an opposing coach/player. Having the rivalry back will be a good thing.
  18. I’m fucking tired of reading stories and comments about how Texas is a terrible conference partner and killed the SWC and Big 12. SMU, TCU and A&M killed the SWC by being fucking morons about openly giving cars and massive bags of cash to recruits in ways that brought NCAA scrutiny. Most of the league ends up on probation and can’t be on TV. To put the nail in the coffin, Arkansas leaves for the SEC and the conference is dead. How was that Texas’s fault? With the Big 12, Missouri gets on its knees and begs to join the Big 10. Nebraska leaves because it can’t beat Texas on the field without partial qualifiers and tailbacks who drag girlfriends by the hair down staircases. Colorado leaves for the PAC 10 because they never liked being in the Big 8. Texas tried extremely hard to save the Big 12. We invited A&M to participate in a Texas sports network. It’s not our fault they were too fucking stupid to say yes. When Beebe said the conference payouts don’t need to be shared equally, Texas said that wasn’t necessary. A&M forced the unequal payouts and then left the next year over the LHN.
  19. Just to rub little brother’s face in the mud, can we request Arkansas as our annual Thanksgiving game?
  20. The statue at the end is definitely Kang.
  21. Correct - I was in the right centerfield bleachers for Game 2 and afterwards didn’t think I would see a better game. Then Game 5 happened
  22. Unforgiven - Deserves got nothing to do with it
  23. Prior to Covid, I noticed an epidemic of people from the back of the plane trying to push their way to the front to make their connection when our flight arrived early. You booked a 15 minute connection. That’s not my fucking problem.
  24. As the Chairman of the Board used to say, put a bag over her head and do your business.
