  1. I’ve seen shit tweets and “news articles” like this nonstop for the past two days. Are Lakers fans and the media thinking if they say it enough, they will convince the Nets and the rest of the world that the Nets should give up Irving for a 2027 first and have to take on Westbrook? All these stories talk about Westbrook like he’s still a star and valued asset. One ridiculous “proposed trade” was 4-way with Suns (get Durant) and Spurs (get dumped with Westbrook for 3 firsts)…the Nets would be giving up Durant and Irving and only getting back Ayton and two firsts…and it’s totes fair that Bron Bron gets Kyrie for Westbrook a single first!
  2. So you believe they traded for Harden against KD’s wishes? If so, I guess he can blame the team for the situation and be justified to move on. But re: the rage in your post, I think you may be confusing my single post for some ongoing debate against KD. I am definitely in the camp against star players 1. bailing on their team while under contract 2. Demanding specific destinations so the current team cannot get fair value in return. It is particularly disgusting when their contractual obligations are made in bad faith (e.g. Deshaun Watson and Texans), or players leave teams in shambles after they pulled the strings to wreck the franchise’s future (Lebron twice in Cleveland, and now in LA).
  3. Ok then the devil’s advocate still says KD can’t hold Brooklyn accountable for having Kyrie and his crazy antics when KD knew what he was signing up for, and presumably endorsed if not requested the Harden trade. Brooklyn’s only real faults were making the stupid Harden trade from Houston, and then making the slightly less stupid Harden-Simmons trade. I hope the NFL and NBA owners (sorry, “governors”) take control and put their feet down on these star divas demanding trades to specific teams. It is uncompetitive and terrible for teams and fan bases losing homegrown stars, or in this case stars that the franchise mortgaged the future to get. The boogie man is that one team tells a star to take a hike and they get blacklisted by agents and figure free agents. Ok well what if all the teams agree to put an end to this bullshit?
  4. Yeah, well my expectations after TLJ and the box office bust couldn’t have been lower and I found Solo to be merely worse than Attack of the Clones. I was surprised by and enjoyed the Maul cameo too.
  5. The Lakers should offer Westbrook to Minnesota for two firsts and cash considerations.
  6. Solo did poorly at the box office because it came out after TLJ and there was serious (and justified IMO) Rian Johnson backlash, not because they recast younger versions of Han and Lando. I waited for it to come out online and was surprised how much I enjoyed it.
  7. My FIL passed all his medicals going into AF after playing D3 football, then after a couple years they found the cartilage in both his knees was so shredded he needed bilateral knee replacements. He put off the total knees until he was 35, but until then they had put him on the forward command setup squad, managing install crews for electrical and HVAC. After the surgery, they made him a recruiter and let him live in his original hometown until he hit his years for full retirement and benefits. It was a hell of a gig for him. He expects my sons to be flight surgeons before going into private practice and is hatching a plan to get AF to pay for their undergrad and med school. More power to him if he can swing it.
  8. Ok but couldn’t you have got someone better that Gobert for 5 first round picks? Did inflation affect NBA trades too? I remember when (allegedly peak) James Harden was only worth 3 firsts and 3 pick swaps.
  9. Is Nate Heupel the inbred love child of Nate Hybl and Josh Heupel?
  10. Who knew back when the Twolves had Garnett, Marbury, and Tom Gugliotta that it would be peak for the franchise?
  11. Next summer’s class sucks. They will either have to acquire a big name/contract via trade or hold off until free agent class of ‘24.
  12. ND maybe the prize jewel remaining, but selfishly I wish the SEC would add UNC for the road trips, and also because UNC is aligned with Texas in terms of being a powerhouse in athletics, academics, and research. But SEC doesn’t care much for book learnin’, so bring on Miami and FSU!
  13. SEC to add UNC, UVA, FSU, and Miami to take it to 20 teams? I just read it in this post.
  14. Today’s story/rumor/fan fiction by Florio is they could settle by saying 2021 was part of “time served” along with an 8 game suspension in 2022. That makes it look like an unprecedented 25 game suspension. Watson would have to repay the Texans his $10M 2021 salary if that happened along with losing half of his 2022 Browns salary (~$500k). In theory the Texans would get that $10M cap space back. What would be interesting is if the Texans then tried to go after the extension signing bonus, because he never played a down on that extension for Houston or Cleveland. He (retrospectively if the above scenario happened) would be considered suspended for detrimental conduct in 2021 then signed an entirely new contract when he got to Cleveland. That would be $27M more for him to return and cap space for Houston. It would also be the right thing to do, since Watson effectly got paid $37M in 2021 to do nothing but sit, tweet Future lyrics, and fight civil lawsuits. He got a new $45M signing bonus from the Browns so it’s not like he’d be getting cheated. He is the thief.
  15. You answered your own question. Unless you are a team in LA or Miami, you need to start your superteam yourself and have them recruit other stars (Pierce in Boston, Lebron with Cavs, Steph and Klay in GS). From a basketball and winning perspective, why wouldn’t a star like KD want to jump on a squad like Memphis, Boston, etc. where the team would still have a good, young group around him after giving up assets in the trade, rather than jumping to the previous year’s top team(s) that might have to gut the team to get him? In conclusion, if you are small or mid-market team you are screwed unless you draft multiple stars yourself and enjoy a short run.
  16. You’re not. Most people feel bad for the team’s fans (or themselves if they are fans of the team) when a player buttfucks the franchise with hood outs, trade demands after signing new extension (eg Handjob Watson), or if they take such a high percentage of the salary cap that the team can’t afford good enough complementary players to compete for championships (eg most NFL teams after a start QB gets their first $40M/yr extension, or Washington Wizards after giving Wall or Beal a supermax). The player gets their money, tries to dictate when and to where they are traded, and the original team ends up sucking.
  17. It wasn’t the Nuggets owner’s fault that they gave Michael Porter Jr. a 5 year max extension and he only played 2 more months. They’ve got that on the books with the super max they just gave Jokic.
  18. They could’ve picked up the one year option for $1.8M then reassess if they want to resign him or let him walk to free up time for Smith, Eason, KJ Martin, and whatever other forward will be on the ‘23-24 squad, but instead gave him 3 years/$22M?
  19. Why did Durant sign the extension if it was even a possibility he’d leave? He’s really screwing his next team (and himself) if they have to give up a boat load of assets.
  20. @shadow_operative he would show some balls and heart if he went back to his home team Wizards/Bullets and turned that shit around with Beal.
  21. So earlier this week it was leaked KD might request trade if Kyrie leaves due to how the Nets handled it, then after Kyrie takes the option to stay KD requests a trade anyway? WTF?
