  1. Damn sip conspiracy this place didn't make Texas Monthly's Top 50, instead they put all those sissy Austin BBQ places and a bunch of sip pitmasters in their issue.......
  2. Perhaps.....though we went 4-0 vs the Cove in the 80's. including the 2 or 3 years Mumme was there. Seems like they were the homecoming game two of those years.
  3. Let us know what you think of the Maui offerings. I remember drinking a couple of these (Pineapple Mana) coming back to shore from one of the snorkeling trips and it seemed pretty good after flailing around the water for a couple of hours.
  4. What are the horses names? Snoopy and Prickly Pete!
  5. Damn.....I remember when Mumme was the coach at Copperas Cove....they were in our district and needless to say, they were who you scheduled for homecoming every year.
  6. I lived around the corner from Magic Wok during that time......Cheap college kid chinese food for when you were tired of pizza delivery and all the other fast joints in the area. Agree totally....Chili's makes a decent burger and most "fast casual" places fit the bill when you care more about just getting something decent and quick. Agree on the hate for Applebees though...was stuck in Oak Ridge, TN on assignment for a couple of weeks in the mid-90s and Applebees was, at the time, the pinnacle of fine dining there. Hated that place ever since and fortunately have maybe only been once or twice since at the behest of family members.
  7. I've sentenced boys younger than you to the gas chamber. Didn't want to do it. I felt I owed it to them.
  8. mmmm......Jambalaya!
  9. No, that picture shows a Hammond being played by a Reggie As opposed to Reggie Hammond
  10. Great theme song though.......70's and 80's TV always had memorable theme songs
  11. Could also go on the favorite drummers thread
  12. You look a little stressed..... Oh I'm stressed.......
  13. KU begs to differ on that one..........
  14. Oh, which reminds me, did you hear the one about the Pope and Raquel Welch on the lifeboat
  15. Balcones Country Club.......my old neighborhood area. And stuff like that never happened in that neighborhood..........😁
  16. This seemed appropriate for some reason.............
  17. I think Maui brewing is the only one on the island of Maui...most of the craft brewers are on Oahu. Maui does have a nice tap room at the brewery in Kihei and when I was there 2 summers ago, they had around 20-30 different varieties on tap at the taproom, though they probably have about 10-12 of those available in stores around the island, depending on what is seasonally released. Definitely worth a stop if you want to kill a couple of hours on a nice afternoon.
  18. I'll second for Bruford
  19. the livin's easy.......
  20. To add to others not mentioned here Stewart Copeland Phil Collins - yea I said it......go back and listen to some earlier Genesis and you'll know why he is on the list Ginger Baker
  21. Damn straight.......accuracy bitches!!
  22. My Dublin thoughts to add to others. I do think Ireland is best explored beyond its capital city, but 2-3 days in Dublin is great. If you haven't been to Guinness, worth a trip....if for no other reason then to sip a pint in the 360 observatory. You can actually hit both Guinness and Jameson in a single day...if you do the City bus pass, both are stops on the path. The Jameson tour was redone in early 2017 and was an improvement from the times I had been before. Just note it isn't the actual distillery anymore (that is done in Midleton, near Cork in the south of Ireland) Trinity U/Book of Kells is a must One thing that hasn't been mentioned on this thread yet is Kilmainham Gaol, the old prison. Good historic information and it is pretty close to Phoenix Park, which is a really nice and large park in Dublin (both are city bus pass stops) Lots of really good tours. One good pub crawl is the Literary Pub Crawl which combines drinking and a little history about some of Ireland's great writers. It is pretty well done. Temple Bar does have a lot of the touristy pubs, but there are lots of great pubs around the city. Try O'Connors pub around the corner from the Merrion hotel in Georgian Dublin (near the government buildings). Depending on the night, there can be some impromptu trad sessions there. Getting out of the city - Malahide and Howth were mentioned on the coast. Few other ideas: Wicklows - mountains (really hills) just south of Dublin city. You can drive (or take a tour) out to the Glendalough area Newgrange/Hill of Tara - If you want to learn about prehistoric Ireland, these are two good sites up in county Meath to the north of Dublin Someone mentioned a chippery earlier, I think it is Beshoff's which have several locations around Dublin and very good fish and chips. Dublin's restaurant scene has definitely gotten more diverse and there are lots of good options around town.
  23. Frank: Inchon, Korea, 1950. I was the best cook Uncle Sam ever saw, slinging hash for the Fighting 103rd. As we marched north, our supply lines were getting thin. One day a couple of GIs found a crate, inside were six hundred pounds of prime Texas steer. At least it once was prime. The Use date was three weeks past, but I was arrogant, I was brash, I thought if I used just the right spices, cooked it long enough... Kramer: What happened? Frank: I went too far. I over seasoned it. Men were keeling over all around me. I can still hear the retching, the screaming. I sent sixteen of my own men to the latrines that night. They were just boys. Kramer: Frank, you were a boy too. And it was war. It was a crazy time for everyone. Frank: Tell that to Bobby Colby. All that kid wanted to do was go home. Well he went home alright, with a crater in his colon the size of a cutlet. Had to sit him on a cork the eighteen-hour flight home!
